Solid real-world advice! I have decided to go the Self-Taught Route and was happy to hear you mention JS + TS + Nodejs & React. I started originally in PHP & Wordpress building sites but found it awkward trying to get through interviews etc. great content & honest delivery :-)

at the time I was using teamtreehouse, udemy, youtube, and other stuff like that that didn't cost more than 10-50$ per month each. My focus was on finding most engaging good quality content that was recent (especially important today for Front-end and anything AI). I think those resources I used are still good but it's very subjective. If you want to do AI front-end projects or hard core machine learning, then you should look for current best resources for that for example wherever they are at. Also because it's a bit more difficult to find a programming job these days than it was 10 years ago, I see more and more people on twitter go straight into indie hacking & trying to work for themselves. the tools to get up and running these days are way better than when I got started so this is more of an option for junior people now.

I've been learning python programming for 3yrs. I've got several other courses I've gotten half way threw. Recently I realized I think I know to build better projects, bigger actually. The job search hasn't gone well. No phone screens. Been networking. I look on indeed here the market is dried up for the time being. But having yrs of experience in Electronics repair im trying to find a electronics technician role with python programming. There are roles like that and I have been getting job interviews there. Either I'm going to get a part time job and build stuff,finish courses or move across the country for a job that involves programming.

Thanks for the video I'm currently in a bootcamp and I'm almost done . Im hoping I get a job soon . Sometimes when coding I feel just like you said I feel like I'm dumb and want to quit but I know if I keep going I'll get there hearing your path is very inspiring.

Wow, thank you very much for this video. I love your positive and realistic perspective and approach to this challenge. I want to start my coding journey with Python. Since I’m not into books, I need a purely practical online teaching approach. Do you have any particular platform or instructor you would recommend for a total beginner?

What skills did you know for your first job?
@emergingbits Жыл бұрын
I learned Javascript and Angular at the time which helped me get my first job. then quickly picked up React, Node.js, on the job. Today I would recommend if you want to do front-end, Typescript, React, next.js is a good start. Python if you want to the AI machine learning stuff.
