My trip up to Scottish borders and my take on the Honda 750x DCT.
You have to live with the bike for about 3 years and really get to know it before you can make an informed judgement on it. This i will do in stages with this my last bike. Thanks for reading this and thank you, to all those who subscribe to my channel. Cheers Baz

The only things I changed on my NC were the seat (fitted a Puig, way more comfortable) and an aftermarket screen (can't recall who made it) Mine was a 2015 DCT model. Most versatile motorcycle I have ever owned. I would 100% have another one. I used to hyper-mile my NC. On a run I could get it to return 99.9mpg...

Bib, it sounds great mate. I'm going to take my seat to P&P seating, they did my Forza 350 and put a gel insert in it. I'm going to change the front fork springs and the back spring eventually. Meanwhile not been out on my bike because I've been poorly. I am going to the NEC bike show because it's only up the road from where I live. I will be videoing and bunging it up on KZfaq. Great to hear from you buddy take care, all the best Baz 👍

Hi, 12 months in, 4000 miles covered, changed the fork springs at first service, watch Chris Moss on the Knox channel. Didn’t change the rear spring. Pyramid plastics do a great crash bar, had the aux lights fitted, not too keen on the standard headlight, rad protector, screen protector, rear rack. When riding around expect upper 70s sometimes 80 mpg (UK) and 75mpg when loaded with camping gear. Is it a commuter bike, yes……but it’s also a great tourer. My only complaint is the side stand, it could have done with a longer arm that allowed the bike to tilt a little lower. It’s the 22 model.

Yes the springs need changing Colin. I haven't had a issue with the side stand but I did have a main stand put on by honda. Also I did go for the bigger screen they do, but that was still too low! Hence the one I've got now. They also put in a type C USB, for me. I use that for my sat nav. Great to hear from you Colin. Take care, all the very best to you 👍

@@bostinbrummie I’m, having the centre stand fitted on Friday, I had the bigger screen fitted plus the wind deflector, that did the trick. I haven’t fitted the rear hugger as yet, bit did fit the extender for the front mud guard. I’ve fitted a cheap saddle mesh to the saddle, I’ll see how that goes on a longer rider . Enjoyed the video, keep riding safe, Colin

After your walk round the only gripe I can see is I have a large bag on hand back seat and I would have to remove every time I wanted to refuel so it’s off my list , thinking of the ADV 350 for simplicity, I’m only 51 but can’t be bothered with gears due to traffic these days , enjoying riding is harder.
@bostinbrummie
@bostinbrummie 8 ай бұрын
Yea Neville it's a bit of a pain lifting the back seat up every time you want to refuel mate. I must admit though Neville the bike grows and grows on you, the more you ride it. Going to change the tyres soon to get better grip in the wet. The tyres on it are not too bad but in the wet they could be a lot better. Then I'm going to tackle the suspension back and front. It's just cost at the mo mate. Anyway great to hear from you Neville. All the best mate 👍

Yeah, with Hondas for some reason, they think it will detract from appearance if they add mudguards. So if you want to protect your radiator from being plastered with mud, you need to add a mudguard extender. Likewise, at the rear, you need to add a mudguard to stop the underside of your seat, and adjacent parts being subjected with mud.

Baz. Hope you are well. Did you find the increased weight (Forza to NC), problematic? I'm considering the NC750 manual, primarily because its 10kg lighter than the DCT, and cheaper! There's nothing wrong with the SH350 scooter I have. Its light, (172kg), speedy. The lust of the internet makes me consider a more powerful bike that I may not need!

Hi Geoff, hope you are well mate. I absolutely love the bike Geoff. The weight thing I didn't have a problem with, I must say. You know me and bike seats! Geoff. That's the first issue and the second is the suspension. I intend to sort them out.The weight thing I don't have a problem with at all Geoff, it's so light! I tried my mates Bandit 1200 and my goodness me, the weight of mine felt like a push bike in comparison. I even let my mate on mine, he said " bloody hell that's light!!". As for the power! The power is wonderful. In fact me and my mate, opened it up on a duel carriageway. He said he had a job keeping up with me and he's got a 1200 triumph. I hope this helps mate. Great as always to hear from you mate👍 All the very best Baz

Hi….me again, can you advise as to what better front springs you will fit, I’d like to make same change also, the rear will get changed down the line…I also added fork protectors, little covers at bottom of forks to stop crap causing issues with the seals…oh and instrument screen protector a good idea….as for the filling up of fuel…well call me lazy, but I do it at home in my garage, just use a small can and a tube….not a splash or incident….just for ease….I live on an island just off France, so not going that far….my TT tires have to say are excellent…totally on road which is fine…..as I say, great bike, ticks all the boxes…..mine is the grey silver colour….

Hi Karl, great to hear from you mate. I will be checking around and I'll get back to you about the springs. I have had some major health issues in the past and has raised its ugly head ( Cancer) got to go and have some tests again. I thought I was free but I might have a different one. So I've been concentrating on that at the mo Karl but I will get back to you no probs at all mate. In fact I'll do it today and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. The hugger I got from powerbronze. I fitted mine on a treat. Sorry you had some trouble with yours. The hand guards I was going to get but had a simple solution to that Karl, I put over mitts on. They only cost £10 and when I was travelling up to Scotland my hands were freezing cold with what I thought were warm gloves. I put them on Karl and within 10 mins my hands were like toast. They fit over my gloves and are from Spada. It was the best £10 I've ever spent! Great product. Anyway Karl I will get back to you about the springs soon mate. Great to hear from you, take care Baz 👍

@@bostinbrummie hi Baz….well firstly I really hope that your health improves and you can kick that ailment right in the nuts…I wish you good luck and a positive outcome….cheers for taking the time to look into my query….it’s a tricky thing that Honda balance costs against quality, for me for a few extra bucks, better suspension and a double disc up front and maybe, just maybe shaft drive instead of chain, but of course it’s all about cost cutting, I have to say compared to my old bikes from the 70s and 80s, the quality for me is much better, I find it most odd that it’s a crapshoot as to what make of tire you end up with, mine look and feel very much road, and nothing like a semi off road tire, not that I will ever go off-road intentionally…..and yeah, bit unlucky with that stubborn screw that I cannot undo, it will get sorted by my dealer that’s for sure….I have been enjoying my bike riding around Jersey where I live, but my god our roads are utter shite….oh to have French smooth roads….so close to France in distance but I honestly feel we are now a borough of London…..hey ho….so yeah, my very best wishes to you, great you sharing your experiences and as I say, kick that bastard into touch….cheers..Karl

What kind of fuel do you use in your country? The best I could get from a full tank till now is 70 mpg, when I rode mostly on the highway. When I ride with lots of city riding, mpg is between 58-62. I use ron 95 with 5% ethanon, haven’t tried the premium gasoline yet. I find it hard to reach the 80mpg and above that many people have been showing.
@bostinbrummie
@bostinbrummie 10 ай бұрын
Hi mate, in this country we have 2 types of petrol, E5 and E10. E5 petrol is made up of 95 per cent unleaded petrol plus 5 per cent ethanol (which is why it’s named ‘E5’). E10 petrol is much more beneficial to the environment, containing 10% ethanol and 90% regular unleaded petrol - and was introduced to help the government meet its climate change targets. I mainly use E10 myself and I'm getting around the high 70 mpg. So on a couple of runs recently, I did get around 75 - 80 mpg but that was at a steady rate about 60 mph on the Motorway ( your Highway). I hope this helps, it's great to hear from you by the way. Take care out there. All the very best. Barry 👍

How would you compare this to the Forza? I’m riding a Burgman 400 and contemplating moving up to the NC750 DCT so would appreciate any thoughts or comparisons you might have. Thanks and cheers
@bostinbrummie
@bostinbrummie Жыл бұрын
Hi Billy, great to hear from you mate. So here goes for the comparisons. First of all I like the NC 750X better. It's a more versatile bike than the Forza. The Forza was crap over bumps and pot holes Billy, as you could imagine with the smaller wheels. The riding modes you've got, Standard, rain, sports and user modes with the NC 750 X are great. Obviously there is more protection from the rain on the Forza, but that's no big deal for the 750. The electric screen is great on the Forza but I found it a bit gimmicky to be honest. There are pluses and minuses for both bikes. The list is endless Billy. I did enquire how much a Forza 750 was. I was told it starts at about £10,400. Where as the NC 750X DCT is about £7800 so the price is a lot Cheaper bike. Got the modes the Forza 750 has. All in all Billy I would make the change. I need an automatic because I suffer from Gout and it used to kill me changing gear on a manual. I completely forgot about the NC750X DCT. If I would have remembered I wouldn't have gone for the Forza 350 Billy. When changing over from the Forza to the NC it was a bit of a love hate relationship with the NC. Now I love it mate. I'm a great believer you have to live with a bike for about 3 years to really know your bike. On my videos if I don't like anything on the bike I'll say it Billy, like the seat and so forth. I absolutely love the sports mode and can't wait to make the mods on it to make a good bike into a great bike Billy. Hope this helps mate All the very best to you Mate 👍

I got my new bike recently…the DCT version due to weakened wrists from a nasty accident 42 years ago…drunk driver almost ended me…anyway love the bike, but..so angry, tried to fit my Puig hugger, the screws on the chain guard came out ok, as did the screw near the disc brake….but the screw that holds the brake cable etc onto the swing arm, well the screw just turns around and around…cannot get it out, gets first service next month so will get bike shop to fix this issue and mount my rear hugger, and well at same time do my front fender..I have hand guards, centre stand, side stand plate…about all I need….oh and my battery cover had not just clips but two screws…unknown to me or the manual…Velcro is a great thing, I have my trickle charger all hooked up…if I was to be critical, I’d say a twin disc up front might be better..but hey I,m splitting hairs, it’s a great bike, tricky to deal with throttle and back brake control to start with, but once you get used to it…it’s brilliant, nice 60th birthday present from the wife.
