You're the only instructor I know that shows in detail what you're doing and NOT blocking that detail with your fingers when tying knots. It's amazing to me how many people on YT don't critique their own videos. Details matter. Anyway, kudos for that.

I’ve been subscribed for a while; I’ve seen almost every video you’ve put out there; I’ve learned lots and tried to teach coworkers other neat tidbits and tricks. I’ve given away expedient ridge lines I’ve made from your instructions to people as gifts or as a thing to put in emergency kits. I’ve used your ridge line setup in every situation, from setting up camping shelters to preventing people from getting heat stroke at community events when shelter is unavailable. From Plash Palatka’s to the venerable GI poncho. Thank you for the advice and knowledge you share with us.

Keeping your ridgeline & your toggles connected to the tarp or rolled inside during transport will help ensure you always have them ready to deploy. Half inch pvc tubing cut into small sections with a hole for a small lanyard loop will keep toggles together with a light duty caribeaner. Thanks Corporal. OAF.

Another benefit of using toggles is that the pressure exerted on grommets is very little. Those cheap poly tarps always lose their grommets when you tie THRU the grommet, rather than spread the stress to both sides using a toggle that spans the hole.

It's one of the things I learned early one. My instructor taught us to use simple knots first. Where you can set up a basic shelter with only overhand knots and shoestring knots. It was the Keep It Simple Stupid way of doing it, that anyone can do. And from there we learned more advanced stuff.

Firefighter hear. We learned multiple knots in fire school. I quickly learned that a figure 8 knot will do just about anything you want. Loop in the end. Loop around an object. Loop in the middle. Tie two ropes together. Still use other knots for technical rescue. But the figure 8 is a great general use knot. Also easy to tie in the dark and with gloves on.

Thx to corporal’s vids and tutorials i’m using ropes much more efficiently. I also watch other people’s vids about effective application of knots. And most of them are super simple and easy to use. For summer i only need hammock, 10m rope with few Prusik loops on it, sleeping bag - and my lazy camp is ready:). Occasional stakes or extra stands are made from sticks and branches of fallen trees.

I have made several “rapid deploy ridgelines.” It’s fun to put together as an at-home bushcraft. I may not always have my pre built equipment so I am completely onboard with the Corporal’s method. It’s easy to remember and to teach others. The main key here is to practice, practice, practice!! Muscle memory and repetition.
