It's more common in childrens death than you want to accept. I know it's insulting to your sensibilities and instincts as a mother, but most children that are murdered are killed by a parent or primary caretaker.

It's so sad that anyone even NEEDS this law 😭💔 if you have kids and one goes missing and you don't call the police... Then you had something to do with it in my book. If i call my 10 year old in from riding his bike, and he doesn't answer or ride by within 30 min my ass is in the car on the phone with the cops panicking.

I think the problem is that this law just applies to children of any age so it has a wider window. A missing toddler should be reported immediately. When it comes to a 17 year old with a history of running off, the parents are more likely to wait it out. They should have broken it down into age groups.

You’re right but it’s not even just women that can’t have kids. There’s so many families that want to help children or just add to their family and choose to adopt. Hell as a single mother with grown kids I’d gladly take in any child that needed love and stability.

I believe there’s women like her that want the child for the attention they’ll garner only. They might think that the good attention will outweigh the low times and hard work and when it doesn’t, she loses her narcissistic supply. The child is her property to control, an extension of her and where she gets her admiration and respect, so she wouldn’t dream of giving her up to someone else. Idk...

I, honestly, think these young parents are afraid of the stigma that comes with giving up a child to be adopted. They are made to feel as though they are the dregs of society if they give up their child. With this, they end up keeping the child and eventually come to resent the child for taking their freedom away. This coupled with the financial, physical and emotional demands of raising a child takes its toll and the anger takes over. Just my opinion, but if it was more of an accepted societal norm to relinquish custody, we wouldn't see as many of these cases.

She probably thought she'd get off like Casey, although the circumstance are/were different. The reason WHY Casey wasn't prosecuted was that she had inside knowledge of how crimes are investigated (Dad George was a County Sherriff Deputy) and thus there were things the Jury didn't have to convict on. Y'all blame the jurors for Casey Anthony being free, but the jury could ONLY decide punishment with the evidence at hand. This case was different. This young mom had no training or knowledge as to how forensics work in cases like this. Instead of placing her child up for adoption, no she chose to murder her child. Most likely Megan Bowell was FAR below the intellect of Casey Anthony.....

I truly believe she saw the Casey Anthony case and thought she could have gotten away with it like her. She really thought she was smarter than everyone else. Ppl are sick. I feel like there are probably a lot of women seeing that case being like “hmmm.. I can do that.. she got off and I can lie better than Casey..” No you can’t. You WILL be caught. Take care of the babies you were blessed enough to have.

I actually think the USA has great punishments compared to ours here in the UK, when you get life its 15 years for some horrific crimes. It's ridiculous. One guy I know (a local) killed a 2 year old, he got found guilty of manslaughter sentenced to 8 years but with good behaviour in jail will be out in 5 or 6. Disgusting.

Unfortunately people who commit crimes against children don’t have a conscience and therefore they won’t have remorse no matter how long they sit in jail.

The system especially failed JJ and Tylee. They had Lori allegedly making up false claims of abuse about Tylee's father and they just let her continue. The police in Arizona had Charles Vallow reporting about Lori's delusions and they didn't do much to ensure the safety of those kids. He also said she was threatening to kill him, and when he came up dead no one from the second police department researched the police history. When Charles was murdered, the police seemed to have believed Alex Cox's story even though everything about the situation set off red flags. There were so many opportunities to step in and help those children before they were murdered.

Everyone says that, but now a days they send them to prison where they are locked up with people that have done the same things , she will be locked away with baby killers and child molesters.

Life with no parole means you will die in prison...the only way that would change is if somehow they were to appeal the sentencing (on a technicality or maybe a new law) or she was able to get a new trial and then would either be resentenced or get a new sentence..but if all the appeals are denied (they usually are) then she will never get out.

A life sentence in Tennessee is a minimum of 51 years it is possible she could be released when shes close to 70

They have the coroner’s report and autopsy sealed so we have to wait for the trial. I think they’re still testing evidence which is why discovery is slowed

I’m sorry for your loss and the loss of the beautiful child that could have had such a lovely life. Sadly, it seems your situation is all too common, too. I know several women who would be the most amazing mothers, but cannot have a child, but I know some who shouldn’t even be allowed fish, but they have multiple babies with multiple men and could careless if they are well cared for or not.

Murdering, or hurting a child makes my blood boil. I do however believe our system is broken. I found a toddler wandering around n the 2nd floor of a motel. I called police. After several hours they contacted his grandmother. She was given to her only to walk at dark with him down a very busy road. She was so ill equipped she requested l hold onto a bag of toys for him. Many children find their demise in foster care. I am outraged by this babies death, but we must brainstorm to fix what is tragic. I don't have the answer. Peace and Blessings to you.

48hrs is too long - I feel 48hrs is too long to wait to search for a missing capable adult. An incapable child should be reported the moment the parent can’t find them - even if they have to call it off later because the child is found and the family should be assessed for child safety.

I mean, I know a lot of good teen moms. And there’s been so many cases where moms in their 30s kill their kids. So your comment doesn’t make sense

I sure hope you one-day given the gift of a child. I am the mother of a 30yo son. He often was my sweet spot, and frequently " gave me a run for my money". No matter the tears l will forever be happy that l am his mother. Blessings to you.
