I am a former Dean of Students in Colorado for both middle/high school students. These parents know damn well their children weren't allowed to attend graduation. The crazy thing is that these children's parents allow them to run their homes and act a fool at home, and then they bring that same Energy and Nonsense to school every day. There were discussions with these parents about their badass kids and it fell on deaf ears so good for the school for following through with their consequences because this is more than likely the first time these children and their parents have been held accountable!!!

First of all that's wrong and that's wrong like the one lady said her daughter got a special certificate and her diploma so that doesn't make sense it doesn't matter if they got into it or did whatever I say you can't hold stuff against people he's a kids and they had a right to graduate and if they felt like that they should have contact the parrot like the parents say they never been contacted about anything about their child doing anything in the school so that's a bunch of hogwash people need to stop

Listen up parents, your kids know what to do at school - behave. Follow rules. Dont presume - when consequences are enforced - your child is the exception. They are not. High school awaits - if you dont want to counsel your child to follow the rules during their high school years either - please, please PLEASE homeschool them. Period. Your non compliant child isnt being wronged here. You as the parent need to tell them why. Graduation from middle school isnt their entitlement. And they know it. So do you. Meh, this kind of makes sense. I've never understood why middle schools graduate and pass failing students along. It sounds like these kids did not earn their graduation. I had a lot of problems with learning and didn't graduate high school. It was sad when I got the letter in the mail saying that I was ineligible and wouldn't be able to walk. It was depressing but I didn't show up and demand to be allowed in. I hadn't earned it. I got my GED and am in community college now, I'm excited for when I graduate next spring and will get to accept a diploma I did earn. Hopefully this is a sign for these kids to get it together, life is not full of rewards for no effort. They are quickly becoming young adults and need to learn that.

Parents and guardians need to start disciplining and telling their child or children the consequences of their actions!🤬 Also, teachers and other staff members at school shouldn’t be afraid to discipline children when they are misbehaving. It makes no sense how you have to be informed whether you've met a requirement or not. You've been with yourself this entire time, have you not? You know whether or not you were doing things everyday. Were these kids crying when they were on their phones during class not handing anything in? Probably not. Just "promoted" a whole bunch of 8th grade students myself, and the way these parents were begging, pleading, clamoring for their students to just get pushed to passing for goofing all year is pathetic. Play that game now, but I can assure you hardly any of them are ready for high school and they're just going to keep stumbling forward if you don't make your kid shape up and step up.

If your child is being disapplied there MAY be a reason. Now when I went to school I got caught in a trap. If you're late you get detention 3 detentions removes you from clubs etc I was late by 1 minuet, had to get a slip, standing in line to get the slip made me late again so I had to get an other one and that made me late again which made me get an other one which made me made which got me detention We also had a resent example from a friend of a friend, there kid was in the hospital, misses an assignment, failed, got disqualified from graduation. So there are unfair moments and teachers some times do discipline the victim not the bully but normally schools let the parents know if there is an issue and that reason should have been given to the parents at the turn away or sooner If those kids broke rules then they must suspect the reason why either way its only half a story.

I have retired after 26 years in public education and saw many of these same things. It shocked me when I returned from Asia in the early 1990s and saw how behind our students were compared to what I saw in China, Taiwan, and Japan. Many of our students here in the States are not ready to compete with their Asian counterparts. The Asian systems are built on merit and you compete to get into the best high schools and universities based on tests and grades. Those that do not strive to learn, show up, or behave are shown a track for vocational work and are taught a useful trade. I hold a MA in East Asian Studies Chinese, a Fulbright Scholarship in Japan, and a Fulbright Scholarship in China.

Meaning i kinda agreed woth the school staff here. Depending how the kid does in school , the rewards are either glorious or tragic. Why go if you can't graduate? I feel that was on them for still going

I can understand the rules. But the Attendance part. If it wasn’t an excused absence then fine.

They never take accountability, it’s always racism or someone else’s fault. My best friend couldn’t go to prom because he broke the clock on the wall near the gym after getting into a fight with his girlfriend. That was that, he took the punishment, his parents called him a dumbass. There’s none of that anymore.

Calm down. You can't make a "they" statement. It's quite possible that the students never passed on the information to the parents out of fear or embarrassment. Get past race because that's your real probem.

Bravo school! Do the work for the reward. They shouldn't be graduating at all. This is why we ha e adults who can't read or write we worry about feelings and not actual education! Shame on the parents!

Shame on the parents trying to embarrass there children just for clout and to make a invisible scene😂😂😂😂 you know 8th grade graduation doesn't matter or count. Ive never had one but we are in a small country town where parents and kids dont act like this

Kids and parents fault for not meeting the requirements for their kids graduation ceremony. That's what happens when they don't follow the rules.
