Another really good trick to use when you're stranded or something is to switch the hoses and let it run backwards for a minute then switch back and drain all the fluid then refill.... 😁👍

Back in the day,my work truck had an issue where it was fine around town and you froze on the highway. So I stopped in at the shop who repaired radiators for us ,and he had this wicked gun that had a water hose and an air line hooked to it ,and a big rubber tip to fit a hose. Blast some water in, blast the air and the garbage that came out was nasty. And he even said it, it's either gonna work or you're gonna need a core when I explode it. I've always taken the long shot gamble and won probably 85% of the time so far.

Your method worked beautifully. I did not have air but used on/off water push first and it was like a dirty toilet on the 2016 2500 6.7. Then I funneled in CLR pure concentrate for 5 mins then flushed again both directions. I lost less than a gallon of coolant in pulling the pipes, will flush again later. The heater stopped working before but now it works perfect with all the crud gone. I had two clear tubes and it made it nice to see the chunks and all come out. Thanks for an awesome post! Definitely pre-warm the engine to make pulling the hoses off easy. Cold I could not dismount the hoses, hot, they slid right off.

Before I reverse flushed mine I attached a funnel to the inlet hose and plunged it 🪠like you do a blocked sink, then I reverse flushed it…Now I got Heat🔥🔥🔥

When flushing the heater core I’ve heard it’s best to use low pressure hoses. Hoses with high psi might damage the lines

This can often finish off your heater core if it’s already compromised Doesn’t really matter though. If flushing doesn’t fix the problem, you’re replacing it anyway

Be sure you are hooking water to flow through the core opposite of engine coolant flow.

Why not hook up 2 hoses. Reverse flush the system Without splashing all that crude and stuff in your engine?

I have two pipes entering the firewall on my Hyundai, i cannot identify which is the in and out, can i flush either with the hose? Does it matter. Thanks

My coworker told me about this, but my 4.7 dodge dakota has ok heat but i smell antifreeze in the ac and heat so would a flush be too little too late?
