I almost did the exact same, then when he said he hates forrest gump but likes bigbangtheory i lost any and all respect for his opinions on media. Makes sense why he recognized most of the garbage shows but had no clue about half the decent ones.

It is a great show, but so are a lot of shows out there. Only chance he watches is together with his daughter.

I don't like that it has an "America good" take on historical events where that wasn't the case, and then also its kinda just a bit hokey. I don't hate it. It's obviously well made and acted. Just feels a bit too...I don't know how to put it.

it kinda has a weird framing on a lot of parts of history by making Forrest a direct part of them. for instance, it has a super biased view of the Vietnam War, has Forrest inserted in the middle of the Black Panther movement, and even claims he taught Elvis his iconic dance (which was taken from a black man, along with a lot of Elvis' music and persona). outside of that, i personally think his relationship with Jenny is uncomfortable and very strange. it's entertaining enough and has a heartwarming energy to it, along with tom hank's doing a really good acting job, so most people just lump it in with the classics from that era. even though there are way better movies from that time ig
