Judge Mathis

Judge Mathis

2 жыл бұрын

The plaintiff and defendant were high school sweethearts who eventually got married, but then divorced. The plaintiff says he put a cable bill in his name for the defendant, but she is behind on payments, so he’s suing. The defendant argues the only reason she’s being sued is because she just filed for child support for their two children. #JudgeMathis #RealityTV #Court

Seems to me that child support should be automatically determined after a divorce. No woman/man should be able to deny her child their rightful money. Also, it would prevent a woman/man from coming back 13 years later and demanding back-child support that they never asked for.
@jasonito23
@jasonito23 2 жыл бұрын
No. Child support should not be automatic because in some instances failure to pay means ending up in jail. Some women do not wan there childrens' father to go to jail for failure to pay a bill. I had custody of my daughter and did not want/demand child support for my daughter because I made more than enough to support her and her mother didn't make much money at all. I didn't want her mother to have to move out her house etc. possibly lose her job and have to go to jail for not paying child support.

The audience is irritating and JM is soo annoying about child support. If he’s in his kids life and financially taking care of his kids why does he need to go though the courts? I feel like if the parent is a dead beat, not helping financially or being a good parent in general, then they should be taken to court for child support. I’m honestly shocked the husband spoke highly about his parenting at the end.
@bw8820
@bw8820 2 жыл бұрын
I agree with you but the reason he says go through the courts is because a man can be a great dad and helping financially HOWEVER, if something doesn’t go in favor of the child’s mother or if the dad does anything the mom doesn’t like… she can take him for back child support since there isn’t a documented agreement. It’s better to have all monies documented through the courts and still do extra if needed. There have been plenty of instances where women have taken men (and vice versa) to court for child support right before a child turns 18. It’s so crazy that people can do that, so I guess it helps to prevent that.

The defendants husband is exactly how new marriage partners should be, supportive! You can tell that he loves his wife and her kids and he wanted to keep peace, stay out of their little beef and let this too pass and acknowledge that the plaintiff was indeed a good guy. He did not say he paid medical bills. He said he paid for that ONE surgery. Medical insurance is paid monthly and the father should have been contributing to that. Also, humans need 3 meals a day the father did not indicate he was providing at least 1.5 meals per day per child. Plus kids also need rent, utilities, transportation, clothing, grooming items, school fees---none of which the father said he was contributing towards.

Someone saying, oh abuse could be slamming a door in someone's face, or throwing's a basketball at their head. Like abuse is abuse and no one should put their hands on anyone, or be throwing things. That not only scares the spouse, but it's showing your kids that this is how you settle your arguments and this is how you treat a woman. Notice, the guy never denied the abuse, jsut said he never hit her. Well, maybe he slapped her, or put her hear through a wall, or threw something and grazed her head.
