I do wish you had mentioned that the Exosuit Upgrade is available from The Anomoly once "per system", so just as plentiful as the main stations upgrades. People just don't understand how it works, even if they are aware of it, though many are not and I appreciate your pointing that out for their edification. As always, wonderful content from the best content maker for this game. (My opinion)

I typically setup bases at a 'Minor Settlement' as it gives you a place to land your ship (without using fuel for takeoff) and 2 trade terminals inside.

Just an FYI, the process of extending your base can sometimes bug out and not allow you to build after you placed things outside the original distance if this happens just reloading can fix it allowing you to then build again.

As a suggestion for survival make Ion Battery's. You can craft them from the start, they cost 20 ferrite and 10 cobalt and with the new updates stack 50 high(100 in high capacity slots) making them cheap to craft and easy to carry. any planet with a cave has plenty of cobalt and every planet has ferrite dust. A full slot of these and your enviromental hazard worries are taken care of for the foreseeable future

The Malee boost can only be done if you have the right Movement Module installed. Great tips Xaine.

The melee boost can be done regardless of modules, I'm not sure what you're on about Steve. And the bunny hopping was due to the rocket boots smokey, they make it a little more tricky thing double melee boost but still very viable, I have both installed on mine

Expanding the base also works with other items. I use 2 to 3 metal half arches stacked on top of each other. I use these as power poles for the cables (immersion).

I found it convenient to build lights, toggle to the wiring/deletion menu with left trigger (I use a controller on PC, sue me.), then just lay wire with moderately frequent junctions in the direction I want to extend my buildable bubble. Just drop a light whenever you get the message saying you're outside your base's build area, after backtracking to the last junction point, and proceed as you were.

Wow, I never knew about the inertia accelerating melee jetpack mechanic. I love this game so much for many reasons. From my profile pic you can tell I'm both a Green Lantern fan and a Trekkie, so it's no surprise I love this game. There's so much to discover and explore even for veterans and I'm definitely not a veteran of NMS. When I did the melee jetpack mechanic I couldn't seem to go as far or as fast as you show in the video. It's entirely possible I'm doing something wrong or I don't have a proper augment or both, but I will say that it definitely did give me a forward boost compared to regular takeoff, so thank you for the tip nonetheless.

The timing can be tricky and takes practice, it's also a lot easier with the rocket boots than without

One think I did early on, once I had my first bankroll I just started carrying around a stack of ion batteries and oxygen capsules. Ion batter are less useful as it takes 3 batteries to fully recharge an depleted hazard shield/modules, meanwhile each oxygen canisters will fully recharge your life-support. Both are relatively cheap and available at most galactic trade terminals and stack up to 50 on survival

I was wondering about the power setup. Seems that it takes a huge amount of oxygen or carbon to power a base, so the solar is a plus. Thanks for the explanations.

Solar-battery is the best for powering legacy bases that don't have EMF hotspots nearby, but it's worth looking at least. Even C class EM generators produce a fair amount, and it's 24/7, so no batteries required. S class hotspots make 500 kPS, so the equivalent of 20 solar panels with battery storage

In my opinion now the Best way for a New player to make money fast is just havin a portable miner and use the terrain manipulator to "destroy" the planet,it Gives you enaugh to recharge completely the multitool and refine the rest in glass,its not expensive but its also not expensive to get the items needed to get for the New player..like always a awesome vídeo xaine. You can have the top warp drive and go to any star but if you have all drives they add bonus to your warp distance. I found that out since we can move tech around so I tried every angle and found I had way more by having all put together in the pattern that gives the best bonus.

Great video Xaine, I also place a battery at the base when using the power hotspot, just so I can see how much power I am producing compared to how much power I am using so I don't have to travel to the hotspot every time I add something that uses power. :)

I believe you mentioned this in one of your videos but, you can make tons of money if you happen to have enough the rare ores like indium or emeril. In a medium- large refiner, convert some of your rare ores into chromatic metal, leave enough rare ore to multiply more of that ore. Game changer for mid game

Oh I'd also like to add in that the refining in the games deeper than people think. Having a near self sustaining base is no joke. Making Iridesite is a slow but rewarding experience tbh. Refining is basically the most micro managing in the game, which is a nice trade off from farming and waiting so long for plants to grow. Its close to the concept I mentioned earlier with the rare ores, only difference is you use the corresponding element used to plant in the recipe. The wiki is a lot better at explaining this Farm refining.

For the hot spots... As long as you are with in the "bubble" of that hot spot you can literally put those dudes anywhere. My indium farm ( Built after watching your last video ) has the magnetic power generators and the harvesters almost touching. One step north I'm in the power zone. One step south I'm in the mineral zone. Building in that area between the two zones. The "no man's land" was the best and most efficient method for such farms I find... Anyways great videos!

Interesting, was it giving you the full amount? As the number it says it's giving you drops off, from my testing it stops giving full between 50 and 100u, but I hadn't hooked them up the grid and seen what the grid itself was providing. Appreciate the heads up bud

Not only does it not matter what you build to extend the range, but the free wires will also extend it. So if you want to connect some geothermal to your main base, the wires alone will be enough to do it.

Definitely need more guidance on building, specifically the explanation behind dropping walls to extend the base. is there a reason why we don't create a base right next to the power hotspot(s)? what is the significance to dropping walls to extend the base? i'm going to try building a base using solar and batteries to begin with. i'm no glitcher so these will be baby steps

Great vid man, nothing to add except that I have still found a few planets that have activated Stellar metal, but no storm crystals. This happened in Visions era, too, KJ might have found some as well. Super rare exceptions perhaps, or possibly bugs. Peace! Oh yeah, my Bepis shirt came today

IIRC (& it was mentioned in the vid) storm xtals only turn up in extreme planet storms. There's also a possibility (esp if starting a new game) that your current (ship/suit) scanner doesn't have the necessary oomph to detect them. If using an existing save try re-examining your MT for better scanner u/g placement?

That could definitely be a thing early in the game, like where it is scripted to not have storms u til a point, for example. And thanks for the advice on the MT, there's truth to that as well, however, my multitool is adequate. But, super small sample size as well, only a few of these between a couple people over thousands of hours. Also, hell yeah to being able to relocate installed tech!

@@solidsnayk I don't think there's that much scripted into the game except for not dying instantly upon starting a new playthru :) Certain essential plot-led elements are still there (eg not being able to craft/find AM until you know it exists), but for the most part the game is as open-ended as it always was IMO. Extreme environment planets are still pretty much as hostile as always.. (altho extreme sentinels on lush etc worlds seem to have been toned down a bit IME: no longer do you jump out of your ship & are always instantly attacked.. at least on Survivor ;) ) Query: for my new Survivor start I started on a Gek world (after a couple of disastrous attempts while I tried to remember which keys did what; all (failed) restarts were Gek). The YT player I watch regularly (kzfaq.info/love/NGfPPHLLQ5xKQ0tvAWsOQwvideos) also started in a Gek system (with a PD start) If you did a Survivor start, was your world Gek too? If so, the start system /may/ be scripted, but don't hold your breath.. ;)

You completely missed the suit upgrades you can find on planets.. I found some data pads for cheap, bought 50 of them, went to a planet and maxed out my inventory in a couple of hours, for about 2 mil.

Hi Xaine, Just wanna ask a few questions: 1. Is the health station still doesn't work in the base or freighter? 2. Is Sulphurine gas a special kind of gas? It seems that the extraction rate and storage capacity of it is much smaller compare to the others using the gas extractors and supply depot. 3. Will the selling price of an item recovers back to its origin in a system after we sell a lot of that specific items? Thank you!

Question on base power as it relates to powered structures. How best do you go about turning off a power supply ONLY to specific general tech inside a powered structure without powering down said structure?

No doubt it's common knowledge to veterans, but I noticed you don't seem to need to complete the installation of the special hyperdrive modules to be able to access their respective systems, just have the incomplete module present (although it probably affects the multipliers etc).

Oh, that's interesting, the incomplete way of installing them is new to beyond, formerly you had to instal them fully to instal them at all, I had not tested this function so it's news to me, appreciate the comment bud :)

Do you have a guide or any information on traveling between galaxies in Beyond? I recently went to the 10th galaxy by completing Atlas Path/seeds, and due to the bug that was just patched, the station terminus wasn't added to my menu as a target- I used a Terminus and ended up returning to the 1st galaxy, and now can't get back to the 10th directly. I guess my options are Portal Glyph, or Atlas Center, or Atlas path again. I'd be interested to know at what point it makes sense to change galaxy, or the best way to prepare for doing so, as well! Thanks!

Hey Zaine thanks for the great vids. As a day one player I’m a bit confused by the galaxy map. What’s up with the “no data available and the short jumps? I don’t think I can travel more than 700 light years as before Beyond I was able to do jumps of 1500 yrs. What has changed that would make me get these things back? The “no data available” is driving me crazy! 😃

No data available will either be an abandoned or unchartered system meaning there is no active race there or it has never had an active race there so no economy or it's a system you've never been to and you don't have the economy scanner built in your ship. The difference in distance is likely due to some tech missing, how long has it been since you last logged in before recently?

Thanks for getting back to me on this so quickly. Of course since Day 1 I have acquired every upgradable piece of technology that I can find. I remember pre-Beyond I was able to go to space and survey any planet and never had “Data unavailable” on anything I selected. Now I’m getting 50% of my scans as data unavailable.Not only that but being able to jump almost 1500+ light years per jump. I may have to dismantle all my tech to see if that helps but so many things with my Old Save that are having major issues, that unfortunately they never fixed, but that’s another story. I’ll dismantle and report back. Thanks again for your valuable input!😃

First and foremost Xaine, thanks for making your videos, they are helpful. Now to my question. Is there any way to turn off multi-player? I ask because the new anomaly with all that stuff is a lag fest for me and I would really like to be able to do things there without all that lag. I have even turned my graphics down quite a bit and still get lag all over that anomaly. I also see lag on the planet surfaces, but that is another issue. :)

Hey xaine, great video but I’m having trouble powering the first aid terminal in my base, no matter where I place it on a powered wall it will not work, I’ve even tried powering directly to it as it seems to have a connection on the top of the unit. Have you had any trouble with them yourself?

Xaine great long streams keep up the great content. I tried for ages your method of planting electromagnetic generators in water ontop of one another just as you did and after extending the base boundary to 650u with batteries. They don't light up or connect for me when placed directly over the power hotspot and when I search (e) I get a 'Malfunctioning Lockbox' (ASDASD). What does this mean? Please does anyone know what I'm doing wrong.

Any chance of explaining what the orange text on the galaxy map is all about exactly?. I understand the LY light years away, and Water is obvious also, but what the hell is the exact deal with the G4p or O9f or G7ph???

It's a RL solar system classification system. G (always capitalised for the primary)-type stars are equivalent to our own Sun, a yellow star with a certain lifecycle before it degrades into something else (prolly a red giant IIRC) Check Wikipedia for star system (& planetary) classifications (eg Earth is an M3 class planet) including all the subsidiary letters/numbers & their meaning. Note that the game currently has 'green' stars, which don't exist in RL (as far as anyone has ever observed)

Hi there I started play the game recently, 2 weeks befor beyond. On the PS 4... sry. So, I watched up to twenty vids from you now. Congatz to really great ons, that helped me a lot! But one question I have. I tryed your and lots of other portal adresses to get crashed ships (hauler) or experimental multitools.... non of theme worked really. I do not get to the right planets (diffrent name, no info stations „crashed hauler here“ect..) .... What am I doing wrong, got an idee. Did not found any help/links in The net. The adresses shoud be platform over working, aren‘t they? Up to 110h by now, I should know what I‘m doing ;) Keep up your great work. Greetings from switzerland. Peace 👍😎

A few things: While the commentary pacing has been reduced slightly to intelligable lvls (remember me complaining a year or 2 ago? ;) ) the video (esp. txt screens) flashes past too quickly to easily register. Not a problem for reliable broadband users who can frame-by-frame backstep fairly easily, but could be an issue for dodgy wifi users.. WRT exosuit expansion I suggest a postscript explaining drop pod coord data, resourcees required & where the break-even point could be compared to space station upgrades for cash/time I feel the chlorine loop suggestion here doesn't go into enough detail to be regarded as an overview. It's almost certainly covered in your manufacturing vid, but deserves another sentence or two here to make things clearer IMO Interesting that crashed ships don't (appear to) require repaired launch thrusters to be summoned (I've yet to test if the pulse/hyper drive needs to be fixed before summoning to a different planet/system), but they can still provide good random resources (eg wiring looms) by disassembling upgrades for cash-poor early tech/ship upgrades (as you recently documented) & a source of exchange cash for fully working ships.. Base power: this vid doesn't make it clear how this stuff works WRT the generating side IMO (not helped by you placing a solar panel indoors - does that work in NMS?) OK the geo gennies are best & most consistent, but for a reliable starter base how many solar panels+batts are likely to be needed for a 24/7 teleporter, medium (don't go overboard for a starter base) refiner & anything else you consider essential? Can batt.. err.. batteries*) recharge fully during the day using only solar energy & make use of that charge to /fully/ power the base at night? If so, what's the ratio? * Batteries IRL are defined strictly as an array of individual cells (eg your torch 'battery'), which are then combined into ''batteries' for a multi-cell combination; those can then be installed in 'banks', but let me have my fun ;) Once again there're a couple more points I'd like to make but have forgotten during this msg composition :) No doubt they'll occur to me eventually ;) ATB :)

Haha, I could never forget you Snafu, pacing has been something I've focused heavily on in all my videos since your original feedback. This guide was meant as a brief introduction to many things, partly why I recommend so many other bids for people who want to hear more. The speedy video clips are paced to the audio, if I talked slower, I get massive drop off due to boredom from viewers (my accent doesn't help), and it throws the whole thing off, the text I can make longer sure, I usually go for 5-6 second for a sentence. There are a number of other tips aye, Ill be making more tips vids, I have a notepad I add things to as they come to me while I play, video ideas and tips, other such things, when I have another 10 or so I'll make the next. Appreciate the feedback bud :)

Personally I have (now) no prob with your audio commentary, simply the vid pacing. If you allowed each vid txt clip another 0.5-1.0 (or even up to 2)s 'viewing time' while keeping the commentary at the same pace, would that adversely affect your audience figures d'you think?

Drop pods are still on planetary surfaces, you just have to get lucky, or buy or find (at Ancient Data Structures) Drop Pod data to decode with your signal analyzer.

Drop Pods? They are still there and a great way to fill out exosuit slots once they start to get expensive at space stations. Cargo slots especially.

I think I have come across a glitch in freighter building and as i am a total noob at freighter building, I figured my question would work here. So, I was building command rooms to send out my fleets and right after building a room, a metal "board" appeared across the doorway blocking the entrance to the room. I can see above and below the "board". I just cant enter the room. Its almost like boarding up a door for a hurricane type thing. Have you seen this before and is there a way to fix it or glitch through the board so i can get in the room to recover my fleet?

Crystals, not a great suggestion for a new player. Everyone talks about extending the base reach, is there any reason why not to just put down a second base terminal or will they conflict. I know I have put down more than one on a planet in the past, I believe :)

I was sure to give 2 other options while also warning of the danger, they'll be fine. You can only upload a single base per planet to go public also you can't link the wires between bases afaik

Honestly, they just need to add wireless power "receivers" to base parts and then make the power generators into portable tech. We have what is in effect planet wide wireless Exocraft summoning, why not add that? Would probably help the game engine too for how many people are expanding their bases like this.

Yeah it’s super annoying, I try and only do base building during a non-VR play session. Which is really inconvenient. I prefer VR hands down, but it comes with some costly gameplay disadvantages. That being one of the 100... But hell, least we weren’t charged 60 bucks for the VR version lol.
