7:55 This was interesting: I'd never considered the engine eval in these terms before. I knew it was done in terms of material point equivalent, but the idea of +N meaning that the opponent is going to have to sac about N points of material in order to stay alive is a perspective I hadn't come across before.
@ClassicMist360
@ClassicMist360 2 жыл бұрын
it actually isnt how the engine derives its eval, because once you get to the "position where the losing side has to sac material" the engine will show a different number at that point than what it started with before the combination of moves. Levy just says things sometimes without knowing what hes talking about

@@cecilasen yeah this sounds weird so to me it may mean that my reasons maybe true upto a certain point then is no longer applicable, or it may be that my reasons are totally wrong from the very first word I started to write 😂😂 in that case the specialists should be doing a better job so as we get what's going on or lastly it could also maybe be explained by the horizon effect these engines I hear they have like when it's sensing mate but that mate is prolly 9moves mate but engine has depth of calculating say upto 7moves...since it's impossible for the comp to give the mating line coz it can't see beyond 7moves but it knows that position in 7moves is so bad that even material on the board can't begin to cover it... don't know if I explained well

my best guess for 18:20 is they are going for the "pp on the pp" aka put pressure on the pinned piece (the rook in this case) because they don't want to trade material (not knowing they could take material without trading because they are as good as your avarage random noob or anarchy chess user) or maybe they are flexing the fact that black can't en passant that pawn, so black is forced to resign since the forced move is illegal

Engine analysis can be really sad bc I played a great game with one blind spot but because it happened for multiple moves, my accuracy wasn’t even 70. It’s kinda tough, but I’m almost to 800 rapid when I was 600 like 3 weeks ago and I’m investing in blitz more too, and I should hit 500 blitz and beyond. Before watching your content I was like 200 strength and knew 0 openings. Would you do more in-depth opening videos? Your queen’s gambit video is one of your 10 minute recaps and I love your London video and your explanation of “pyramid with bishop in the middle” helped me against a gambit I’ve never seen before. Thank you for all you do, have a great day.

The idea behind pawn to f5, if there is one, is that if bishop takes, then the pawn can fork the bishop and the horse, and then if bishop takes again then it forces a queen trade. Not a good idea, but an idea.

I'm an extremely casual chess player, and I'd love to say I wouldnt blunder as bad as these fellows but I probably do.. however as soon as I saw that second knight move to attack the rook I knew black was going to blunder back rank mate, it's like thanos - inevitable.

4:35 I think a lot of beginners will just trade queens since it just makes the situation less complex.

My children love chess. We play daily and it's been a learning experience for all of us. I've been looking for a decent set to replace our set. I watched your video with Michelle. The chess set you guys started with was absolutely beautiful. Can you point me in the right direction to get a set of that quality?

The funny thing is, when I play with stockfish on lichess, for some reason the d file queen trade is where it takes the longest amount of time to make the decision.

I have to confirm that in my mind I makes just such sounds, which Levy does when I'm beating someone's queen and forcing the opposing king to beat, and not to castle.

In 5:12 there’s a mate by pawn on 4th rank takes the fifth rank pawn of black. White takes back then I think bishop to g7 is mate

No kidding, i am 1600+ at FIDE rapid and my friend is around 1450 FIDE rapid and we played a few games. We were hanging pieces all over the board all the time. Yes, we did not pay that much attantion, because it was not a tournament, but if we can play like this at this level, you should get self-confidence that you will get to our level for sure :D
