Levy I love your videos more and more. Not in this video but on another one I watched recently, you mention that one's success in chess could directly mirror one's success in their life. Or that somehow from the way one moves on the chessboard could be an indicator of how they conduct their life. I love this concept. I could definitely improve both in my situation, so do you mind telling us more about it? Or link to a source/book where you read this concept. Thanks a lot. Stef

This is one of the best games I have ever seen. The impeccable play by both sides to make this happen made me speechless. Some of their moves are comparable to some of the best moves ever played in chess. By the time the game ended I nearly went into shock from the beautiful waves the pieces have made on the board. This game will go down in history as one of the best games played between 2 players.

Notice that in the position preceding stalemate, all possible moves by white (Kg3, Kh1, Kh2 and Kh3) were leading to checkmate with 4 different promotions, and in all 3 relevant cases, these checkmates with underpromotion would have been the best variation ; plus, all underpromotions could be used : Kh1 f1=R# (mate in one, it also works if you promote to queen) Kh3 f1=B+ Kg3 Qg2# Kh2 f1=Q+ Kg3 Qg2# Kg3 f1=N+ Kh3 Qh2#

The endgame legit reminded me of my double queen sacrifice outplay. I thought for a second that I maybe Queen Machine (I was 500 ELO at the time when I did it), until I remembered that they kinda over used their queen (which I try not to do as much as possible). The only time I did that is when my queen just keeps getting harrassed or when I used the most annoying counter to Center Game to figure out how to counter it (the annoying openning was pretty big in the 600s, and I really hate that strategy, so I decided to use it when I had the chance just to study more about it).

Similar thing happened to me.. Opponent promoted to a queen and I took the only good move I had which was moving my only other unstuck pawn, directly in sight of the queen and they took the bait, pinned my pawn that was protecting my king and stalemate.

Actually id love if Stockfish or AlphaZero or Leela teams would develop an engine which has an "okay, but lets say i cant see this move" feature. Like if there is a #1 move for black for every turn, then you can just X that move out, and ask the engine to give an expert analysis of what an ELO 500 player sees. That would be awesome. Like imagine analysing the position at 10:00 without the white queen giving mate on d5

I had a very similar game, i went to greedy and accidentally blundered my queen and roock on the same move, I got depressed and started moving my king back and forward to have a steelmate, but I ended up having 4 queen because my opponent forgot trice that pawn eat diagonal

Levy, i have a question regarding puzzles not ending with a mate or on a check a piece up. When do i know i am done with the puzzle if the goal is to be a piece up? Is the only way for certainty playing out (best) moves all the way to the conclusion of the game or are there other things i can reliably look for to conclude with reasonable certainty i have in fact reached the puzzles end?

I know I'm a little late, but wouldn't, at 7:05, wouldn't Re1 also be viable? At least at this elo, its protected by the queen and while it hangs the Knight on e3, there's a sneaky Bb5+ that opens the queen up to the rook? Maybe Im missing something but I feel like that would be a decent move

1. Re1 is not viable. 1... Qxe3+ is check, and 2. Bb5+ would leave White's king in check, so it's illegal.

You’ve really got it, Levy. It was like a chess whodunit: what forces in the 500 chess brain could make one side so blissfully unaware of his defenders getting picked off as the barbarians rushed the gates? What fog of war descended on the other side so profoundly that he completely lost the ability to see the other side if the board? What sorcery then made the antagonist blind to the final kill shot? That was a stalemate for the ages! I was thoroughly entertained by the way you donned the Hat of the Pfuscher and presented the most awful of moves as natural and necessary. Thank you!
