It’s amazing how those 2 items affect so much. I thought 100 was fine, but I had to go to 70 to get rid of stutters. I really hope that Asobo can fix this and get it optimized.

It’s built into MSFS. Go to general options > developer (or experimental?) > turn on developer mode > now at the top of your screen click on debug and I think the drop down says FPS or something similar

I currently have a Ryzen 5600G, a RTX3060ti and 16gb of ram. Would an upgrade to 32go make a difference in stutters? Actually, I’ve got some FPS drops, especially when I move around the cockpit

What if u found the sweet spot 2 weeks eirler it worked no stutters but then randomly in a prop plane on the ground the cpu is in the red constantly no matter the setting u change and your running 6fps

I have good frames in Australia, but in USA,Vagas is low frames San Fransisco is not great .Is Amercia optimised badly?

I haven’t had much trouble in Vegas but I haven’t been happy with San Francisco’s performance. It’s possible but I really don’t have an answer!

@nocturnalsimulations I run 1x 55 inch 4k TV and 2x 1080 p monitors.with 6800xt all ultra high load terrain set around 320 for Australia great frames except for stock airport ymml ,San Francisco was so bad at 100 load 6fps

Man I have an Asus Rog Strix OC edition 3080 Ti paired with an i7-12700K 32gb DDR4 3200mhz and I still get drop frames when moving the camera and I feel so much stutter! I play at 1440p medium-high settings 100% scale even with DLSS it doesn't help that much the GPU usage is too low between 40% - 55% how to improve this situation !

Try upping your graphic settings to put more work load onto the GPU, you are going to be CPU limited with that CPU/GPU combo (most people are). You may also consider dropping the CPU intensive settings such as your LOD settings a tad at the same time. You’ll likely end up with a better running sim overall that looks better but lose a touch of draw distance on objects.

I record in 4k at 60FPS using OBS running a RTX4090. The coloration you see is simply an HDR to SDR filter utilizing a LUT and some color correction I setup.

@@jaspindersingh4062 I mainly use the built in one. It’s very finicky though, often times requiring a restart of the sim. I created my own procedure for using it to prevent that from happening but it bites me occasionally. I started experimenting with other programs but haven’t done too much.

That’s not too bad! As long as that’s stable and stutter free that’s going to feel good in a sim

That's probably because of hyper threading (smt). You see, 60% utilization is a fake. As you only have 8 true cores, and other 8 cores are somewhat not physical, you won't get 100% cpu load in MSFS. Also the MainThread limit issue means that one of the cores is saturated and limiting the performance (that is, MSFS main rendering thread is executed on a single core by design). First of all set "Offscreen Terrain Pre Caching" to Ultra. It helps a bit. Also try DX12 renderer to see if it performs better. Disable Core Isolation (Memory Integrity) in Windows for better performance. With your CPU you should be fine when flying forests, mountains and other unhabitant areas with LoD 100 and offscreen caching Ultra. If you experience performance limits in dense urban areas only, try reducing "Terrain Level of Detail" to 35-50.

What the sim recommends? 8GB might be too little, that’s barely enough headroom with windows and other things running to offer up much to the sim unfortunately

I have found that setting the Objects LOD to 150-200, I don't get these severe frame drops on final into a busy airport, which I used to get all the time with this set to 80-100. Pretty sure, that was a CPU bottleneck. Tho now, the overall FPS may be reduced a bit during climb and descend, because the sim renders more buildings around you then. But for me that's fine.

If I were to guess it’s because the buildings around the airport are being rendered further away from you so once you’re on final it’s not trying to catch up. Interesting observation!

@@nocturnalsimulations I agree. That is a very interesting observation. I also noted a video posted a few days ago by Dwindling FPS where 5 levels of settings (off, low, medium, high, ultra) for select parameter sliders were compared one at a time on screen and then a summary screen of, generally, four of the levels were shown tiled together; left to right. Little difference was often seen for some of these parameter settings (for example, the Terrain Shadows slider) because the tiles all focused their field of view on the center of their respective screens while the main differences were actually toward the edges of the whole monitor's screen. But, these edges were cropped when tiling the screens for single-view comparison in the gentleman's video so that little difference was often discerned in the tiled summary. It is as though the rendering engine tries to concentrate on maintaining visual quality for certain parameters in the center of a screen at the expense of what goes on toward the edge of the screen based on the assumption that the viewer's concentration is usually more on center-screen than the edges. That way, the rendering engine can gain some computational efficiencies to help keep frame rates up. Not all parameters exhibited this center-of-screen rendering quality bias though. Just like infinitewisdom's astute observation regarding LOD depth and loading information on final if that setting is too low (and, so, creating stutters) we can see this when we bank an airplane into a turn and FPS drops as new objects swing into view (at the edges, I dare say) for our hardware to load into ram and/or video memory for rendering. I feel that it is non-linear considerations such as this which make tweaking these settings as much of a dark art than simple slider vs. frame rate comparisons account for. It explains why how, what and where you fly, along with personal preferences for visuals, become important considerations. Oh, and BTW, thanks for the tips. I am going to try them right now. Ah, a fellow settings nerd! I’ve got a bunch of assumptions on how to set up graphics on this sim as the sliders are exceptionally deceiving. My next video will discuss how having certain settings turned up higher will offload them from the CPU on to the GPU. This effectively frees up overhead on the CPU giving you more frames all the while making the GPU earn its money. I rather enjoy when I get help to someone in the community get a better looking sim while also increasing their performance.

On a 5700X3D I'm getting same results I had with my 5600X, while performance increased noticeably for other games like ACC. That's just bad optimization, even people with 14900k can't fully use their CPU in the game, it's just the game not being able to utilize its power. I get around 30/40% usage on all cores with the most used that never goes over 60% usage, so it cannot be a real CPU bottleneck, it's induced fom the game engine not being optimized.

Is anybody else having problems playing this game without Internet? Assuming, of course, steam is set to off-line mode as well as Microsoft flight simulator being in off-line mode and all drivers are updated.

My internet was out for a day the week of thanksgiving. My lovely dogs chewed the fiber cable… With that being said I was unable to even launch the sim without internet during that time. Granted I only tried once so I didn’t put too much effort into it. Are you able to even launch it?

that's depending on your system and no general rule. using DLSS + Frame generation on i9-13900K-RTX 4090 and DX12 to nearly double my main thread limited FPS from 35-40 to 60-70.

I have an RTX4080 x i7 13700k and getting 80-190ms latency at medium to major airports with FSLTL and max graphics. Best I use to have was 80ms at Heathrow. Now it's unflyable.

@@nocturnalsimulationsyeah now that I've looked more into it, it honestly seems like it's no good in its current form. It's a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3. 11th Gen Intel i5-11300H 3.10 GHz, 8GB of RAM, NVIDIA 1650 ti. Apparently it's enough to satisfy the "minimum" requirements, but from what I've seen you need more in order to have a decent playing experience, and I don't think adjusting a few settings will be enough to cover it.
