This brought a tear to my eye! I’m a 57 year old hardened, sarcastic, jaded man because of all the turmoil in the world over the last 3 years. I had a German Shepherd that looks just like Biggie. I had her 14 years. She died in my arms on April 7, 2010. A dogs love is priceless! I think of her and all of the dogs I lost over the years! I have 2 dogs cuddled up next to me as I write this comment.

Biggie is a GIANT. And it helps that he's got a terrific owner, too.

I suffer from dealing with depression, sometimes severe. Denying it until I am 56 years old, and the medication I now take helps, BUT... 8 months ago I adopted a 3 year old Dachsund from a rescue shelter. Little did I know, it was she who would rescue me! She has definitely become the largest part of my every day life, and the joy and contentment I feel from making her days the happiest days possible in turn makes my days happy. When I want to stay in bed and mope all day, Cannoli ain't having it! She allows me to sleep in until maybe 8 am then she is in my face, "Cmon Pop! Open the damned doors! Let's go outside. Cmon, cmon, cmon" She does her lil goofy happy Snoopy style dance, and I have no choice but start smiling, then laughing, sometimes hysterically. If I am sitting and staring ,listlessly, Cannoli magically senses it, and she will come over and start nudging me and putting her paws on my lap and looking at me with such intense love and concern, as soon as I pet her, her tail wags so viciously her whole butt shakes back and forth. She is not a lap dog, nor much of a cuddlebug, nor a licker, yet she has 10,000 ways to show me her pleasure and how much she loves me. I dunno what her 1st 3 years were like, but I have promised that the rest of her life will be pure joy and happiness. She seems to have promised me the same!

Dogs are sacred. We owe them the best we can find in ourselves. Having a dog and making that commitment helps us become our best selves.

Please keep him safe so he doesn’t end up in the ICU again. God bless you both ❤

These two were absolutely meant for each other. The love is pure. The bond is strong. By the way, I loved Biggie's ears. I had a dog once, Dave, with the cutest floppy ears but every time I tried to take his picture, his ears shot straight up. Now that he's gone, I have a collection of photos and in every one his beautiful floppy ears are standing at attention. Dave, I miss you buddy.

Made me so happy. And I think he has the clue- not “getting a dog to make me happy “, but “making a dog happy”clears the depression. Making myself happy gives pleasure, but pleasure isn’t joy. It’s a superficial ‘hit’/drug. Joy is a deeper fulfilment. You’re not thinking about yourself. I’m beginning to learn this too. That was a great video.

By exercising Biggie 2 hours a day is probably doing amazing things for your mental health. Exercising that much is so much more fun with a buddy! I found getting a cat that would be considered “special needs” because of her intense fear of people, and crocheting (after stopping for 10 years due to severe arthritis) has done more for my mental health than any prescription could.

Over the years I've adopted a number of rescue dogs and I've loved every one of them. Being a dog lover I understand where you're coming from 100%. A lot of people don't understand how our life revolves around our dogs, but people like you and I do. A big thumbs (paws) up for your video!

Anyone who's ever had a GSD puppy surely is as charmed as I was to see the segments showing The Ear Saga. I was thinking about these dogs this morning, about no matter how serious their jobs might be--police canine unit, drug sniffing, support animals--they never completely give up the goofy. I had one 60 years ago, and she still resides in my thoughts. They are such unique beings, and such marvelous friends.

First off , thank you for being the Dad that Biggie needed in his life . I'm a big dog lover and I wouldn't trade my Fur Babies for nothing and nobody . I'm 65 years young and I have two 5 year old Pitbulls and they keep me in good health and most people don't understand the bond that I have with my Fur Babies but I love them both and they both loves me unconditionally 🐾🐶🐾🐕🐾❤👵🏽

Awe❤ we lost our 13.5 year old Swiss shepherd Klaus. He went everywhere with us. We were so so so sad for so long. We were going g to wait a year to get another dog but low and behold someone had an accidental litter they weren’t planning on and wha-la we got Carlos. He’s 15 weeks today and I now can’t see our lives without him. Great story! Love to hear these.

I have had the privilege of sharing my life with wonderful German Shepherds. I know how special they are. I just lost my 10 year old Bulldog this past Monday. He was my best friend and I miss him very much. Everywhere I look in my house I still see him. I lost it today when I didn't see him waiting for me at the front door; his beautiful bulldog face peering over the bottom windows of the french door. He was suffering from cancer, and I know that he's no longer suffering and in a better place. Farewell my buddy, I will always love you. Thanks for all the wonderful times we shared.
