here i have a tv that had no display. sound was present, backlights were present, but no actual video. I started out taking everything apart. My first instinct was to go to the tcon. I Unplugged one ribbon one by one, and finally i got half the screen to be on.
I replaced the tcon because usually those go bad with those symptoms. One thing you could do to make sure the tcon is good, is to measure the inline fuse. It should be be 0 resistance.
It turned out that it was the lcd that was bad. Unfortunately it will be a lost TV that will be parted. Overall This is what I usually do if I get these symptoms.

I have this same TV, I picked up for $10. TV had the same problem with black screen. I took he main board out, heated it up with a heat gun, let it cool, put it back in and the tv powers on and gets a beautiful picture. this tv is about 12 - 14 years old, I'm in the process of updating the software. I have worked on newer 4k smart tvs and this Sony Bravia is well made and a great tv. If you can fix yours and hang on to it, its much better built than most of the newer 4k smart tvs, built in china.

Well done! sadly, i did not hold on to this TV. but its ok. I have grown to not care so much about tv quality anymore.. since there's always something new coming out.

You’re crazy tech. reseating the flex cables with power damages the screen voltages and signals…it wasn’t working but it can never be fixed now…😢

Did you end up fixing this TV or was the lcd unrepairable? My TV screen slowly turned white but you can still hear the sound. I ordered a new Tcon Board and hope for the best.

Zgembo Adislić it would either point to the tcon or the main board. Or maybe the panel itself.
