Thing is, itadori didn't even go in there because he knew Sukuna would help him, on the contrary he wasn't even thinking about Sukuna at all. He went in there with no regards to his safety at all. He didn't even know about what Sukuna said to Mahito since that was inside him. He basically went all out to save Nanamin with no regards to his own life since he didn't want to lose anyone again. That's character development.

Edit: yes i know junichi voiced a bunch more characters than the ones i listed but it’d be way too long!

Fun fact about what Nanami said about Sukuna, he says: 天上天下唯我独尊 (Tenjou tenge yoiga dokuson) and it translate into "throughout heaven and earth, only i am the honored one" reffering as how sukuna sees himself, which are the first words Buddha said when he took seven steps right after he was born.

Everyone talking about Sukuna but damn that moment when Yuuji broke into the Domain Expansion to save Nanami was something else too. My guy literally had a flashback moment during this, the overall sense of defeat to his opponent was so overwhelming.

Everyone talking about sukuna but what about Itadori? The look he gave to mahito is just... chills, man, just chills.

At 1:01 you hear the guy say: "Tenjo Tenge Yuiga Dokuson", and you see a rough translation in subtitles. The direct translation is closer to "Below Heaven, Above Heaven - [I am] the only honored one", and it's the phrase which was said by Buddha. Buddha meant a completely different thing, implying that since there is a cycle of rebirth and there's no borders between an ego and the universe, every living thing in it deserves respect, but in modern Japanese, that phrase got a second, more straight-forward meaning. It is said to someone who's acting arrogant and conceited, as a way to mock them. "Look at me, I'm the most honored one in the world!" Just a fun piece of trivia.

Translation seems to be purposefully misleading here. Nanami says "tenjou tenge yuiga dokusan", which is "throughout heaven and earth I alone am the honored one". Nanami is saying Sukuna is the Honored One.
