I feel like Itadori was specifically designed to be a vessel, so for him the odds were favourable. I mean, he already has properties we don't understand yet, but which can definitely be explained, like his strength being from a heavenly restriction

What about Riko’s death? The one that caused the Culling Games and Geto’s decent to madness. Hell, even Toji “killing” Gojo is significant. Without that, Gojo wouldn’t have been the powerhouse he is currently.
