Constantly repeating that choosing members is his prerogative ignores the fact that he is dependent of parliaments confidence in him to make the right decision.

It is an awfully detailed document the constitution, so the expectation would be that it would stipulate any externality to "prerogative". It seems like as the DA we want the "statement of intent" to transform into a two thirds majority mandate to nicodemously amend the constitution even though we are against any transformation.

The GNU thing was just a mere ANC idea. And so far, that idea hasn't materialized, as long as there's no agreement amongst all the parties with Parliament seats. Some of the parties (EFF and MKP) with a sizeable chunk in Parliament are not part of this (wrongly termed) GNU thing. If the da and ff+ were fortunate enough to have garnered 50%+1 in Parliament, we'd have had a fully functional Parliament by now. Which is more than I can can for our ANC, EFF and MKP. 😢

The ANC has realised that they could have invited the small parties and offered them huge sums that work with the DA. Soon the DA will be a small party. The ANC is deliberately holding the cabinet so that they can buy more parties to strengthen its hold

That is sort of a contradiction. The more parties they invite the more positions they have to give away. If they just went into a coalition with the DA the ratio would have beein 2:1. Now the more parties they are inviting the ratio has moved to 3:2. So they are actually worse off ... unless they can unload the DA. Then they have a ratio of 4:1 ...which I think they are trying to achieve.

Ramaphosa does not have to accept the list and the DA does not have to support him in case of a vote of confidence. You have somehow missed that point that the ANC does not have +50% of the votes. Ramaphosa is not a king. His power comes from parliament and there the ANC needs partners.
