NO SPARK!! John Deere Liquifire 440 - Can Fixing It Really Be This Easy? Will it start?

I'm happy to see them running again. I had a 75 Liquifire 340, and my ignition would cut out on one cylinder at random. There was no way to get a replacement ignition module in the mid 1980's, and it ended up being given away. I wish that I had it now, as i'm seeing modules available now. It wasn't the most comfortable machine, and it would go through front skis often. But, for a 340cc machine, it was FREAKIN FAST!!! I liked the black/silver colors and the graphics. Great Memories!! We bought it used in the mid-1980's, upstate NY, in the Catskills. My parents bought a vacation house around 1985, in Haines Falls NY, in Twilight Park. There were numerous times that there were blizzards down in the City, in Queens county, where we lived. I remember leaving at around 7:00 am, from Whitestone, with my daughter, (she was about 7 or 8) we got in my 88 Chevy 4wd pickup, and drove upstate. When we got to the house, we went inside, (to use the facilities) and so she could eat and warm up. I loaded the sled in the truck, tied it down, (too long to close the tailgate) and we drove straight back home. We arrived just as the snow started falling. Everyone said I was nuts, but I was so glad that I had gone up to get it. Very shortly, you couldn't drive, and I took my mother, on the sled, to the grocery store! I was everywhere that night. Quads couldn't keep up with me, and the police didn't even BOTHER to try!! Just a great memory. I wish that I still had it.

Good to see another one back up and running! I just spent a year going through and slightly modifying a 340 Cyclone for my wife.

I’ve been following along on Facebook, that 340 of yours came out looking mighty fine. Hopefully it’s a little more stable for her than the mid mounts

Never knew a John Deere ran that smooth and quiet. Time to find a 440 Liquifire and hop it up a bit.

Yes the good old sleds,i a sled 1980 340 7500 Bleszzard Ski-Doo fast nice.❤😎🤠🤒

The wear bars are probably shot. You can buy carbide now. Probably should check the hyfaxs also.

Yeah there’s still a lot left to go over on the sled. They only make wearbars for them now, and even those are hard to find sometimes. One bar was half worn down and the other was basically worn into 2 pieces!

No Spark on those old Sleds are usually one of 3 things, Bad Plugs, Bad Coil or Bad CDI box. And an occasional bad wire.

I made all my skags for my sleds from Stainless rod

@@twocylinderwill held up very well and I ground mine in a vee for the ice because I raced on lakes

seems to have something dragging, that model when you touch the throttle it should launch. BTW that sled should hit over 100 mph on a lake. Brian Spencer going across a lake the last day of the Winnipeg - St Paul with a Liquidator 340 was clocked at 103 mph. The only real difference between a Liquidator and LiquiFire is the LiquiFire has cooling underneath instead of the free air type radiator

Probably something as simple as a rusty brake disc, but you are right. It should roll after throttle let off.

Liquidator was 340 100 mph 😒 but they were fast for a 340.

Do ANY of you So called "Sled" guys check the oil? It is kind of important! Yea, the wear bars are GONE (I would Say)!

I genuinely can’t tell if you’re joking or just don’t know how a two stroke engine works. Either way, it sounds like a skill issue on your end

because the engine oil was mixed in the gasoline the only oil to check on those old sleds was in the chain case driving the track. If the lower seal leaked you would find it on the track, but ya check at least once a year
