I’m in too!!! My theme/word for 2022 is “I can!” I can loose that weight, I can do that task I’ve been putting off, I can love my body the way it is now (I had breast cancer in 2021 and lost both of my breast, my hair, a lot of ache and pains etc), I can…etc I would love to hear your take on minimalism.

Yes, yes do love your body as it is because it is still you! I had a dbl mascectomy 37 years ago. I am 69. The most important thing is to dress beautiful, (not expensive, tasteful) keep your hair and skin nicely groomed. Pamper yourself. I remember buying a cute outfit, getting a budget haircut, and over pampering myself to feel myself again. It sure doesn't hurt. God speed you on your healing. 💗🤗💗

This is my word too. Whoopwhoop. I'm appreciate what I have and am approaching a no spend year from a point of abundance. I am ready very disciplined. My downfall is getting things for my grandkids. Gives me joy... but they need nothing. My time is the best gift to them. We all have enough. How blessed!

I am in with the no spend January. Yesterday I shopped at Aldi's and stocked up on some good sales so I am prepared to spend less on groceries in January. My word last year was Retire, which I did :-). Really struggling with a word for 2022. Can boil it down to two words - new routine. Not working anymore creates a huge hole in your daily life. I don't want to waste my days doing nothing. Yes, I knit - and in the winter time its a great for knitting. I have wayyy too much yarn, enough for a year or two of crafting :-). Read a book a week is a goal for 2022. I get daily Bookbub emails and often get a book from the library based upon a book that sounds good from the emails. Started applying the Fly Lady routine for keeping my home cleaner in December. I have more time to declutter now! In a month or two, will look for temporary jobs and as I did this year- use most of the money to save up for upcoming large expenses. Newer car, home repairs, etc. Happy New Year everyone!

I too am retiring in March, so I am so curious how life will be after 37years! I love to knit and love our home in the country, I would also love to read books! I am sort of curious how I will like being retired after such a strict schedule….tips would be great to share!

@@sherilynp629 , I retired from my job 2 years ago I love to read so I always get my local library to reserve books from other libraries. I've helped at Church food pantry for 6 years 4 of those while still working full-time I worked Monday - Friday so only when I took a vacation day.

In January, i did reading, puzzles, i sew as well, i baked, i cooked up some different recipes, i watched tv, KZfaq, i took some naps, i did a major cleaning on my house, did laundry, i worked on some new art projects. I work from home as well now so i got a lot of work done. I organized as well. I also workout and did some exercise at home. If you have siblings or a friend ask them to play a game together, like board games or card games. There is so much you can do at home that is free.

I’m In!!! My word for 2022 is DISCIPLINE! I know the answers to the questions! How to save money, how to get physically fit, how to entertain myself, how to educate myself, etc. What I lack is the discipline to do the necessary work in order to achieve the desired results! 2022 is the year of sticking to the plan! 🙃 I need to refund my emergency money. 2021 took a huge chunk out of it!!! I’m In! Looking forward to my 2nd No Buy Year (with the exception of essentials and replacement items only). The money saved will go towards my emergency fund. // My Word for 2022 is “Eliminate” (eliminate the energy vampires and the drama that they bring into my life, eliminate the foods that do my body harm, eliminate the negative thoughts and emotions that cause stress & anxiety, and eliminate experiences that bring me no joy).

I don’t actually end up spending too much money, but the amount of time I spend searching for the perfect “thing” is ridiculous and exhausting! I am a happy 70 year old in good-enough financial shape. I raised 3 great kids on my own because of a dead beat dad (yes, I put him in jail for it). I told myself I would never depend on anyone again. So at 40 I went to college and got my nursing degree. I worked nights to get the extra shift differential, worked extra shifts, sometimes 12 hour shifts and many holidays. Most of all that overtime money I put on my mortgage, car loan and any charges that I had. I paid my home off 10 years early and was debt free. I still am with good savings. My greatest tip is to save, pay off any and all debts prior to retirement. It’s the best gift you can give yourself. Thank you for this video

I’m in! I started a couple of weeks ago out of sheer money spending burn-out. I am planning a no-spend year (except on necessities), but I will reevaluate at each quarter. I am currently decluttering my house & listing items on Poshmark. I have too much stuff & it’s not helping my anxiety, so, unless it is necessary, things are going out, but nothing is coming in this year! My word of the year will be “peaceful”. ❤️

I did something like that in January. In January, i sat down and looked at the numbers and my budget and also my schedule and i went through everything and i picked out some days in January and i was like um ok on this day, i don't want to spend any money, not online, not in stores, not out of my bank accounts, nothing and also i don't want to go anywhere either that way i didn't have to put so much money into my gas tank and i tell you one thing i am shocked and mind blown on how well i did and the fact that it worked. It actually helped me get a good jump start on savings and just my overall financial position. In fact i am planning on doing it again in February. Please try this. You don't have to do a full month of it. Just a few days or even a week, or something like that. Also get your family involved that way they can understand what you are trying to do, accomplish, achieve.

We're all in! This is our 3rd no-spend Year as we still haven't reached our target but we love it :) This time of year to sort out what we are using, donate/recycle what we're not and prayerfully make our plan for the year ahead. We do a complete spending freeze for Jan, only allowing regular Direct Debits, buying fuel for work (my Husband uses our car for work as a Delivery Driver) and buying fresh eggs. We will only cook from scratch, eat what we have already in stock and save as much as we can. We both remember how to be resourceful and are reminded of God's goodness and His abundance toward us

I am in for all of 2022. I realized that going into my third year of no spend that this is now a lifestyle for me. My goal this year is to save at least $12000 for retirement savings.. I am prepared with new journal and all my spending rules worked out. I have all categories covered. One of the things I was allowing myself to get this year was kayaks in order to get outside more and exercise...our pool has been closed for 2 years now and being disabled doesn't allow me to walk/hike etc. Christmas money paid for kayaks(on sale) and will be here next week. My word this year is DEPTH (deeper meaning etc) so kayaking on deep water to reconnect with nature and spend more time safely with a loved one is fitting. Happy New Year!

if you are into it The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow is free and worth the effort. If you are planning to visit any castles (national trust-also good resource for walking Scotland) it might be worth buying a discovery pass prior to your trip as it can be costly.

I'm in!! Word of the year grateful: for family , friends and health. This past year has taught me to not take anything for granted . Many times we rush around and never take time to appreciate the small stuff. I need no spend for a couple months as I'm saving for house and was a little to generous to others this Christmas so need to pay off debt. Love this community:)

I'M IN! I'm going to save money towards my RRSP, which is a place Canadians can put money and get a tax refund now then get taxed on the investment when you withdraw it after retirement when you're in a lower tax bracket. For the 2021 tax year, we have to finish contributing by the end of February. I've been saving all year but now I'm trying to scrape together those last few hundred dollars.

I am focus on saving up for a little miniature vacation. Look i don't travel or treat myself very often and i need a break from work, from a lot of things. I need to go somewhere where i can just chill, relax, see something new or different. I just simply need to get away. So a little trip that i am saving up for. Second i am saving up something very very special for my daughter. My daughter has been working really hard over the years and i just want to treat her as well and do something awesome for her. Those two are what i am saving up for.

My word is ‘resource’ - making the most of everything I already have, building resources, and in the trauma healing area, resourcing means doing simple things that bring happiness and calm amidst stress or triggers (examples are clean sheets, taking a walk, coffee, meditation, making a puzzle, putting on lotion, etc). And me, I'm in too! I'm having a No Buy/Low Spend 2022, actually, and my word for the year is Concentrate. It works on several levels for me and my big goals for the year fit right into it. It's quite similar to your Simplify, I think, but for me rather than making things simpler, I'm wanting to reduce and concentrate both my body and the things I own, and to do that I will have to concentrate and avoid unnecessary distractions.

our family spent much less this year and focused on frugalness; my son got me a case of canning jars and my daughter and son in law got me more items I needed for canning; such a thoughtful idea. Loved everything I "needed" to do the things I love and"needed". We only spent 500.00 total for over 12 people this xmas. I baked and made most of the gifts we gave.

I'm in! I will continue to "effortlessly" declutter my home & life in order to manage less stuff. It's much easier to focus on absolutely every other thing you enjoy when you have your house & finances in order. So getting into maintenance mode is my goal this year.

OMG - that is my word too! Well, technically I have two words SIMPLIFY & FAMILY. However, I think in order to focus more on Family I need to simplify our home and our lives. I am planning to do a NO Buy January (with the exception of a pre-planned annual New Years Lunch with friends) and a Low Buy the rest of the year. Happy New Years K-Squad!

Looking forward to this! I want to save a bit more money to put towards our getting a new roof. As to what I’m looking forward to doing as opposed to shopping, I want to start keeping a list of the books I read in 2022 (I read at least 2-3 books a week, and it seems like it will be fun to look back at the end of the year), I want to make more time to write, I want to finish the blankets I’m knitting and crocheting, and I want to do more food prep (canning and dehydrating, and spending a couple days next week cooking and freezing an assload of tamales.) Oh! And boy howdy, I want to spend some time every week going through the house and finding stuff to get rid of. No matter how much I haul away, it always seems like there’s still more stuff that can go! My house is a freaking miracle of nature.😆

Our wedding anniversary is in January, so I will be doing something to celebrate and it may in fact involve dining out, otherwise I will not be spending money. I recently put my entire severance package into savings and that alone, has motivated me SO much, to save even more! I want to save for my own retirement! I’m 55, and have to play catch up! My word for 2022, is FOCUS. Focus on myself, my health, my finances. It’s going to be a great 2022!

I’m doing a low buy year/depth year. I made 3 big goals for the year: quit smoking, get a job for more money, and have low spend. The smoking and low spend dovetail haha. I’ve cut down my smoking quite a bit. I’m writing down a plan for each goal. Love watching this channel

Great video! Thank you for the inspiration. We are a mixed religion fam. I didn't grow up celebrating Xmas. I did it for our kids but now they are older so, I've found it way less stressful as I let go of some of the things I felt obligated to do with them growing up. This year, we kinda waited until the last week before Xmas to do cookies, tree & house decorating, etc. And, you know what? It was WAY less stressful! I ended up paralleling it to our wedding. We only had 3 months to plan it, and it was one of the most beautiful and stress free days of our lives! I was able to just let go of the small things. For me though, generally 1 or 2 people in the family carry the burden or the obligatory "stuff" for Christmas. Maybe for others, it's their favorite holiday and they love it. A little ceramic tree and some hot totties next to the fire is the dream! Once I'm able to give ornaments to the kids when they move out, we'll be that much closer! LOL I like consumables for gifts so, unless it's books for the little kids in the family, I do cookies or local foods, gift cards for experiences or small businesses in the receivers area that they like. I do coffee gift cards for the teachers (to a local shop that works to help homeless teens) or lottery scratchers. The one area we always go over during the holidays is gift giving $$$$ so, maybe work on that for next year. I'm not accumulating any more decorations. If I get something, I really like decorations that are disposable.....like fruit (oranges and cloves) and shrubs (pine cones branches, etc.) /plants that I can compost. I have some Christmas cactuse' that bloom and look really pretty too.

I’m in! I want to get my kitchen cabinets refinished and get new kitchen blinds and pay cash for it. I love the idea of simplifying. I have several family members with major issues going on all around me. I can’t avoid it but it’s really draining and stressful. I need to make the rest of my life as simple as possible so I can help them as best I can.

I bought the same planner for this year! I love getting rid of stuff too. I find myself walking through my house just looking for things to get rid of/donate/yard sale. Haven’t heard of this on any decluttering channels but I’m getting rid of one item (any size) a day in January. Collecting them in the garage & then at the end of the month will donate.

I’m in! January savings are going to help with the cost of replacing our old drafts windows in April 😬 I’m right there with you, with simplifying. My word for 2022 will be ALIGNMENT. Aligning my life and habits with my values. Putting what is most important, first- and no longer “hustling” and “getting sh*t done”, while having nothing left to give to my family and loved ones. Simplifying our life and home is a big part of that.

I am in Kate! I’m so excited I can’t wait I did a low buy/ no buy in 2020, it went OKAY…. Could’ve been better lol I’m gonna try for a year again. Being a minimalist and mildly frugal helps a lot. My goal is to save up eight months emergency fund, My nest egg is a bit low right now. We can do this!!😁
