Professor Skye, I've been watching your spam channel for some time and to be honest I love your content! I'm from the middle of Russia, from Siberia (so sorry in advance for my crappy English). Just want to throw my 5 cents of insight on bread in supermarkets in Russia. In almost all medium to large supermarket chain in all parts of my country there are sections with all kinds of bakery. So they actually bake fresh bread there every morning and pack it in bags. You can also notice on the pieces of the video that you brought with Mr. Carlson, when he shows the packed bread, the inscription "ПЕКАРНЯ" above the bread rack, which means BAKERY in English.

Thanks for that. I should have made it clear that the bread was probably as good as most quality supermarket bread in Europe, which is usually superior to its American counterpart

He reminded me of that Key and Peele Continental breakfast sketch with his, faux, child-like wonder at aggressively mediocre instantiations of very normal staples. Smelling supermarket bread(even if it's baked on site) through plastic and moaning in pleasure, is wild.

Tbh bread in russian supermarkets can really be good, and even though it's wrapped in plastic (or some plastic-papery thing) it still can smell good. It is not an airtight package, after all. These loaves are often baked right there in the ovens and can be warm or even hot on a shelf. AVAA!
