The take that this is a bad business move is so weird. If Bandai feels safe putting prio on player enjoyment we should all be applauding them for this. Especially since they COULD have waited till everyone bought the product to ban it then it would have felt even worse.

@mercier390 that’s a long time 3 months. NA about to start so they will have plenty of data if they wanna change it or not before it comes out in about end February for all the data they collected by then. “Smart” move. They maybe could have done better, but man ever ban list somehow the all TCG will find a way to complain 😂

I agree, I use to like his contents and I love dtcg still. However, the ads in videos are getting too bad. I stopped wanting to click on his videos and finally decide to unsubscribe…… because I don’t see him improving on making better content, the only thing that is changing in this channel is more and more ads 😢

On the one hand, with Apocalymon, Anubismon, AND all the gabu stuff restricted, I think Eyesmon isn't as powerful anymore, it still draws a lot but also requires you to lose your Digimon in the process, and some low power purple decks kinda need it. On the other, now that Eyesmon and the gabu cards are both restricted, I'm interested to see what fresh ideas people can cook up as the draw engine for their specific archetype.

I got to do some play testing vs Apocalymon and if the person playing it gets two out which is very easy it is just an auto loss. The Speed it can mill you out is way to consistent and no fun to play. Also if you look at the Japan meta Apocaly just runs things over there. So glad it going to 1 copy.

I think eyesmon amd T least one of the purple gabumon should come off the list one this becomes official. Those hits were intended to harm these decks and ended un not doing much to them while hurting lower tier decks

So despite whether or not this was needed doesn't this mean we're reaching the "power creep to sell the new sets then ban/restrict them later when the power creeped cards are problematic" phase? When you have all 3 of the major archetypes of a new set hit before it even reaches the states it really makes you wonder if they have a playtesting department or even care about that sort of thing.

I know Yugioh for a long time play tested cards 6 months ahead of release and uses Japan as “Play test 2” MtG play tests 1 year ahead pf release. Idk about Pokemon.

I really like apocalymon as a Digimon, so I was looking forward to playing it, but the ban/restriction-list is completely on point. I also like decks to use cards of their archtypes, it makes everything more interesting, that is also why eyesmon can stay that way.

While I totally applaud them for outright restricting Apoc and Anubismon to 1, it will definitely bite them back when it comes to English version sales of BT15 and EX5. I think they would at least reduce the restriction to 2 per deck eventually.

With Tommy Himi being unbanned, I was thinking that blue hybrid might make a comeback with the restrictions on the big decks, but the restriction on bukamon will likely keep that deck from going too crazy

I pretty much only use one deck (Aegisdramon) so seeing Bukamon hit does put a damper on my future plans with it, but it shouldn’t be too much trouble at all since Betamon and Seadramon are getting jamming. But one thing I want to touch on is Apoclyamon. My friends and I were talking earlier today about this and they said that Bandai needs to run more play tests because restricting a card that hasn’t been released to most of the world is poor game design. I know this game is young and growing, but that’s a huge blow especially when alt arts and secrets have been made publicly known. In the wise words of Apoclyamon: “Why do you get the pizza while I only get the crust?!”

In terms of cards that need to get lifted are probably the purple gabus from st6 and bt2, not as useful if apoc is gone.HPD maybe, but considering Duftmon and leomon in ex5 and the advance deck I'm gonna say no.Only others is probably JetSilphy. It's pretty safe for it to come back

I went from super hyped for these next couple sets to why bother. Was going to whale out on boxes but I guess I can save my money now. I guess the warning was good cause it would have been so much worse after set release.

I believe apokari also was a failed archetype, everyone just used a purple base and forgot the dark masters lieutenants

Can they please remove Dorugreymon from the Banlist? Not like Alphamon or the DeathX Variant are anywhere relevant in the Meta right now, and i doubt that they will be any meta defining with the Dorugreymon...

Eyesmon Scatter should stay on list. Just like Garurumon X. Why bother to use anything else if you can use Scatter.

Eyesmon should stay at 1 it's limited for the exact reason the gabu and garurumon are there just isn't any reason to run anything else what it does is just too strong

Easier to keep stuff banned/restricted once it is on there, shouldn't unban/un-restrict anything, ever. Apocalymon would of been better off only being able to add Dark Masters under him, printing new ones down the line to keep him relevant. Anubismon needed to be on evo only, no main. GaruruX stuff needed tribal restrictions. Bukamon was just a bad decision design wise.

Apocaly as a whole is poor design: - no requirements what kind of digimon and what level it needs to be - interacts with near everything in the game when it's clearly supposed to be locked in Dark Masters - the combination of the lack of restrictions makes the mill effect way too powerful Errating the requirements so it specifically requires you to play within Dark Masters, requiring them in your digivolution cards and tacking only them down under Apocaly, would make it reasonably strong but not as indestructible and non-interactable as it is right now. Also their reasoning makes few sense. Like they were aware the card is naturally broken yet it made it into the game?

Bandai had to choose to have a dead set or a dead game. They choose to sacrifice the western BT15 sales in order to save the game's state. As a JP player, the BT15 was a really oppressing format: - Apocaly is just not-interactive and literally make other decks unplayable just because they are slow enough to be oppressed. - Anubi is toxic due to it's effect which is not limited to only, which means combined with Merva one single step will lead to 4 bodies AND destroy a Lv5 or less. Seeing Anubis potentially coming next turn forces player to keep their stack in Raising for a long time. It "kinda" survived Apocaly because it has just too much bodies, the potential to aggro, and the ability to use trash. - MGX isn't as oppressive, but it managed to compete with Apocaly because of 1) it's sheer ability to draw and search that literally you'll always get your combo pieces; 2) jamming, which mean doing a OTK (the literal OTK from 5 sec to winning a game in 1 turn) is really easy - even achievable in pure blue or blue-violet mix. The only card I think undeserving is Gabumon X because they literally killed MGX that hard for limiting all of its good battle protection, and it's not actually abusable in other decks outside Garuru. I've seen Beelstar using it just to botdeck 4 options and trash nothing. If any of you EN guys has loads of money and literally wants to win things, just buy the Apo package for that short time frame lol.

Scattermode should just stay banned, dobermon does essentially the same thing without the free choice of what goes in trash. Scattermode has been used to do degenerate things for a while and its now starting to become a problem. Leave it be, its fine there are plenty of other cards that will see play with scatter mode on the restricted list.

Firmly disagree. I'm looking at this from a financial perspective. I've sunk at least $150 into building for the new MELGA. Only to get rug pulled at the last minute. That is a borderline scam to gave people sinking money into purchasing your product/events just to say they can't actually use it.

Trash decision to hit so many cards out of EX05 and BT15 Bandai sells gonna be in the toilet for the next 4 months all they had to do was erata Apocla to only being able to use dark masters instead of any lv6 card making the card instantly far weaker and have no protection. Now instead all these new dark master cards don't work in any other decks so why even make them they were designed specifically for Apocla. I have been waiting for a dark master deck since I started playing in BT5 now at best I can enjoy it for a week or two and then can never play it.

I'm going to say the Apocalymon and Anubismon to 1 is a bit extreme. I would say 2 is fine. Its an entire boss monster. The deck does not function without it and based on how Digimon works, having only 1 will be a problem. It may not be fun... but making it unplayable in any form is a bit extreme. Honestly, with all the limits here, it makes you question why you would pull this set when most of the big decks are borderline unplayable.

Its not like the Dark Masters are going to be used in other decks so you essentially killed them off too. But hey, at least you won't have to play against the deck you had a bad experience against ever again. At least for me, I know not to pull this set since there's no point.

@@joshsolders5543 I’ve played Yugioh competitively in its golden age, winning many regionals and placing fairly high in Nats. I’ve also played a little around the time the new Monarch deck was released, but just casually at locals. I mostly quit a little after TeleDad format, so I’ve lived it. I’m glad you bring up Konami because this type of approach to a ban list is exactly what Konami should be doing for the sake of the health of the game. Have you played against Apocalymon or looked at JPN tournament results in the last 3 months? When 70% of wins are Apocalymon, and all the rest are Anubis and Beelstar, there is a serious problem. Every other deck got cannibalized by the aforementioned. You can’t expect Digimon to be friendly to new players or expect other decks to thrive in a format like that. It’s bad. We want the game to grow. Bandai creating this restricted list is not only fantastic, but commendable.

As for your argument, you are basically saying that because the decks are too powerful at full power that they should not be playable. If you played Yu Gi Oh!, then you know that Konami has a list for bans, 1 ofs and 2 ofs. Why are you having a fit over a 2 of instead of a 1 of. If you think that its healthy to either have decks at full power or unplayable, that's your prerogative, but it isn't healthy for the game and don't pretend otherwise. I thought the ban list was to designed to make everything balanced so that all decks were playable, not just the ones you like.

You can still play Apocalymon, Anubis, Beelstar, and Garuru. They just won’t be as oppressive as they would have been and they won’t shut out every other deck in the format like they would have.

Eyesmon absolutely should stay on the list. It wasn't banned because of Apo solely. It's just too good; and even if nothing absolutely abuses it now; it'll be a problem in purple forever.

I don't agree, the problem is that aside from loogamon and leviamon after 2 boxes with support, purple doesn't have full supported archetypes so scatter was just a good fill so you can play non meta decks that without him are mostly dead Edit: Forgot Beelze which also has a full supported deck.

I think the ban list just make me quit the game. Back story I join this game at BT14 , and experience the changes from EX5 to BT15. I myself is an Apo player try to compete in the meta, but this whole thing is totally a fail planning and they got 0 concern about whatever they sold, Im agree Apo do need a nerf, but it shouldn't be that extreme until shut the whole architype down. IT WAS YOUR JOB BANDAI to create the balance in the gameplay, not just swipe away all the shits.

They were very oppressive decks, yes, but I still don't like that Asia is a "testing yard" and when the decks arrive in NA they are totally nerfed and we continue with a similar meta for several more months without any changes

This banlist is a joke, it doesnt even address the most problematic decks CURRENTLY existing in the English format. Whoever makes these banlists should be fired.

@Deathinacann it really doesn't. ShineGreymon is still a big problem, Yellow Vaccine is extremely prominent, BlackWarGreymon is an absolute MENACE, and I'm sure there's other problems too but these are just the ones that feel like the biggest problem.

BlackWarGreymon is so oppressive and hard to remove and nothing can stick on the field against then, ShineGreymon is literally plot armor the deck, when I tried it against my friend for the first time I felt so dirty playing it because of the bullshit it does, yellow vaccine.... it just won't friggen die! Revover here recovery there Recover EVERYWHERE. These decks are too much

@RYsingLegend They're nowhere near as oppressive as what got hit. Shine and Vaccine weren't topping in Japan as much as Anubismon and ESPECIALLY Apocalymon. I tested Apocalymon and it was crazy. It's nigh undefeatable with the right sources with Blocker Retaliation and it wins in three turns if you don't deal with it. One time, I faced someone who got TWO Apocalymons out in the same turn. I had to mill 16 cards from my deck. If I didn't lose on that turn, I would have lost on my next turn.

To people who are talking about how this is good for the game and actually playing, thats fine. But to categorize as good is just ... firmly disagree. I missed the first wave of playing MELGA, and was looking forward to playing the new version. I've sunk about $150 on events and cards in preparation for getting this deck. To have it hit before the deck even comes out is gut wrenching, and frankly, feels a bit scammy. In any other business if you promise a certain product and people pay money in preparation for using it, money thats needed to use it, and then pull the rug at the last minute, it would be getting scam allegations thrown at it. So while it might be healthier for playing the game, it makes me feel less like investing in it if this is going to become a thing. From that perspective it is very bad for the game.

then do not buy alt arts for a deck that you think may be good then. The deck will still be playable, it is just a t1.5 deck instead of a 3 way race of t1s. You did not spend that much for base arts so do not even say you did, and you still get nearly 3 months of playing the deck at full power. Wish you luck in whatever card game you want to dump your money into but Digimon does not seem like the right one for you.
