My successful attempt at building a no weld pop tester. I just wanted to share my progression to completion on how I accomplished turning a hydraulic jack into an injector pop tester with out using a welder.

Cool video bud. I'm in the process of building one of these myself. Nice setup. One quick thing. The dude who invented the original pop tester actually did an update on service at a later date and he suggested adding a mix of atf trans fluid in with the diesel to help keep everything lubed up and prevent any corrosion. I believe it was like a 4:1 diesel to atf mix. Not much. A little dab'll do ya. If you have any issues later on, hope that helps.

Mystery top hole is for air circulation when fluid lowers or rises. Thanks for idea.

Are you sure that top hole isn’t for allowing pressure to bleed off, back to the tank, when the cylinder reaches full travel?

Friend, nice video. Just thinking about if is possible to use a hidraulic manual pump to test diesel injectors, then can be used as well an electrical hidaulic pump to do same task...? filling it with diesel. same as pop manual pump tester...what do you think....? I have not found any video on the internet about this proyect.....

Do You know the thread size of this inner cylinder??

Nice work! Where did you buy the 3/4 to 1/4 swedge fitting? Are these high pressure fittings?

Mcmaster Carr and Ferguson are a couple ive used in the past for the less common sized adapters. Yes they sell high pressure fittings.

Nice vedeo..i have build a pop tester but im have a problem is not building up pressur.and i have not leaking.. please help

If it isnt building pressure and your certain it isn't a bad injector some component somewhere in the jack itself must be bleeding by. It wont take much to drop pressure since liquids really dont compress much. Never use your hands/body to check for leaks high pressures are dangerous. It did take me a bit to fix all the leaks of the threaded fittings. I had to disassemble all threaded fitting and redo them in sealing tape for them to stop leaking. Before that i recall it would cause a consistent pressure drop and even would stop a full buildup of pressure. Outside of that maybe the pumping mechanism of the jack itself is air locked.

OK.....My grain of salt, feed back. Do the video again, with you standing behind the bottle jack so we can see what is going on. Great list of parts to use, but show them in the video laid out, and do a few more test presses, at the end. Side note , I really like your iron workers crescent wrench.

Don't like that thread inside a thread...too thin, maybe? there is a LOT of force (pressure x area) there, lots of stories in the net where the top BLEW OFF...

good video, but yo shouldnt be using black iron, or black iron galvanized. 1. the galvanization can flake off into the injector. 2. black iron pipe is only meant for 120psi. or less.

Looks like it was strong enough.
