[No Yeast] 2 MINUTES INTO OVEN❗ I fell in love with this quick bread the first time I made it!
300g All-purpose flour 2cups
3g Salt 1/2tsp
3g Baking soda 3/4tsp
270g Buttermilk 1cup+3tbsp
At 425 F/220 C bake for 20-25 minutes
1cup=250ml 1tbsp=15ml 1tsp=5ml
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. preheat the oven to 425F or 220C
2. Mix the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
3. Stir in the buttermilk until it's combined
4. Transfer to a work surface lightly dusted with flour and shape into a ball about 2 inches in height.
5. Place the dough on the prepared baking pan and use a very sharp knife to cut a deep cross in it.
5. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes
6. Transfer to a wire rack and leave to cool completely.
7. Enjoy!

I just made this. I used 2 1/4cups of flour + 1 handful more The consistency of the dough should look like hers. Thick and solid. Not sticky or soft. I made makeshift buttermilk with lemon juice and milk. 1 cup milk + 3 tbsp lemon juice & stir. I made 1/2 cup more buttermilk to have the 3 tbsps extra buttermilk necessary. 1/2 cup milk : 1.5 tsps lemon juice ratio It came out great. Really good beginner bread. It does help to have some knowledge on dough and how it should feel. Trust your gut, if you need more flour add it. Bc 300g is equal to 2.4 cups not just 2 This was super quick. From video to application to baking. Had to make a quick loaf for my husband tonight and this saved me. Will update on taste!

Wonderful recipe! I plan to make it today. Yum! However, there are 2 mistakes in the ingredients calculations (conversions) which probably explains why several comments say the mix is too wet. 1) 300g flour is between 2.4 and 2.5 cups. 2) How many cups of buttermilk (from weight) cannot be calculated exactly because each buttermilk (brand) has a different density (ie: weight per volume). But, using an 'average' density buttermilk, a close measure would be 1C + ~1.6 Tbsp. Hope that helps. 😃 We cannot just simply convert a "weight" to a "volume", without first knowing the "density".

Great Recipe to make when you don’t have yeast on hand. I find keeping powdered buttermilk in the cupboard is always helpful. Or you can make your own by taking one cup of milk and adding a tablespoon of vinegar to it and letting it sit for five minutes

Buttermilk is the liquid leftover from churning butter and has valuable healthy bacteria. Yes vinegar will create a similar action when it interacts with the bread soda/bicarbonate of soda but it will never give you the quality it flavour of fresh buttermilk.

Something sour is needed for the bicarbonate such as buttermilk, milk with a tablespoon of vinegar, milk with a tablespoon of lemon, yogurt 2/3 with milk 1/3, otherwise the bread will not taste good. I don't think butter is going to work, it's not sour and it's not runny.

This what my Mom called soda bread. With 8 people to cook for we would run out of bread from time to time and this was her answer for a quick and tasty bread for dinner. Best when warm with homemade butter which is where we got the buttermilk to make it! Thank you for showing others how to make this welcome addition to any meal.

The homemade butter idea is what caught my attention here, as I always seem to have leftover buttermilk laying around that I don't know what (else) to do with. I'm going to have to try this recipe and see how the wife and kids like it =)

Thanks so much for this video.. Here's my contribution: My apologies for being off topic a wee bit, but it's about butter. I buy full-fat whipping cream for $1.59 a quart carton. It weighs exactly 2 pounds. I freeze it. And when I need butter I thaw it and cut the carton open and voila it's butter! Just a tad bit moist, but still awesome 100% butter for $0.79 a pound! A real dream come true! I fry eggs in it, pancakes, and butter my corn and crackers and bread 🍞 ! What could be better than easy thrifty butter ?

barking.dog.productions1776 At what point did you did you convert the cream to butter? I make butter and i just put the heavy whipping creme into a French coffee press, and work it up and down for 10 minutes to convert the cream to butter. you can add salt or saffron for color as desired

@@barking.dog.productions1777 I do nothing but put carton of heavy whipping cream in freezer for a week or more.. Period. Done. Thaw it, cut the carton apart and scoop out the finished butter. As I said earlier, it's a bit moist, but who cares? It works for everything that needs buttering.... 😌..

Leigh, I am paying anywhere from $4.99 to $5.99 for a 32 ounce bottle of "heavy whipping cream" . The bottle states that the cream is "Ultra Pasteurized" . Is this the cream that you are referring to?

I’m not much of a bread maker, but this recipe looked so quick and simple, I decided to give it a try. It’s WONDERFUL! It only took 20 minutes to put together and 25 minutes to bake. The crunchy crust can’t be beat. I’ll definitely be making this again. Thanks for the wonderful recipe!

Is it really that great? I am always a little skeptical with quick fixes and since flour is really scarce here atm i dont want to waste it. The bread in the video does look very delicious though

@@m.8198 Yes, it’s good. I made it again last night and, because I didn’t have any buttermilk, I added a little vinegar to regular milk. NOT recommended! It wasn’t nearly as good as when I followed the recipe and used real buttermilk. I think the good version has kind of “biscuit” insides with a rustic bread crust. Delicious combination!

Yes soda bread .My granny back in Dublin would make the best , brown and and white with raisins , wouldn't last long when I was around .So good .Some butter and a slice of hard chedder cheese , the best .

I made this bread twice already once without the Cranberries. The second time I use onion powder and grated Parmesan cheese. You can't beat the Simplicity of this bread...

Try it with OLIVES or SUN DRIED TOMATOES so delicious, Add 1ts of Cumin I always add 1 TBS of PSYLLIUM HUSK too 😋

Just made this recipe . I had to add more flour because it was very wet and sticky. Also not sure what I did wrong because I had to leave it in the oven at 425 for about an hour . Next time I will try a different pan (maybe that was the issue). It’s a very fluffy bread recipe and it tastes delicious! Can’t wait to try it with some butter . Thank you for the recipe!

To people coming to this recipe. Here is some tips Dont overwork the dough. Just do enough to shape it. Its kinda like a (American) homemade biscuit It’s alright for it to be sticky again like a biscuit you can just set it on the try while sticky if it is. (Maybe try some parchment paper if you are worried about it) It’ll probably cook for longer Another recipe called for 450 instead of 425 so it will probably depend on your oven. Thats all i got. Hope it helps

I started with oats in the blender, added salt, baking powder, condensed milk in water, oregano, rosemary, and fennel seed, and some sunflower oil because I like focaccia. It's in the oven now making a nice peak in the metal mixing bowl. Can't wait to taste it.

You can make a buttermilk sub by putting one tbs of lemon juice or ACV into 1 C of regular milk & let it stand on the counter for a few hours.

I made the bread today. I had to keep adding flour because the dough was too sticky and it actually took more than 20 minutes to bake....30 minutes it took. I ate it all although I thought it was a bit too crusty. I will try it again to get it really perfect. Thanks for this very easy bread recipe.

I kept having to add flour as well. I guess I should have weighed the ingredients instead of measuring them by volume? It's in the oven now so thanks for the note about the additional baking time!

To stop the too crusty, wrap the bread in a tea cloth when you take it out of the oven, problem solved.
