Once Owned by the town's Mayor, This stunning farmhouse was built in 1855. Many years later the home was expropriated by the government to make way for an airport that never came to fruition. The home was abandoned sometime between 2013-2015. The city still cuts the lawn but does nothing to keep the house in good shape. Due to their lack of care the home was fallen into a state of disrepair.

Beautiful old home. What a shame it’s not being restored as it should be. That would definitely be a huge amount of work but would be worth it in the end. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing. That basement had a field stone foundation. Those back stairs into the kitchen are seen in most older homes, no maid, just easier for the lady of the house to get breakfast on. 😊

In Canada, if it's a heritage home, does that mean it won't be destroyed

Those white tube things in the basement are a water softening system.

That place looks amazing! I love all the old woodwork on the doors and windows. Too bad there’s so much vandalism in the house.

You gotta remember when I built that house 160 years ago there was no central heat and air electricity so they had to get the heat and air upstairs somehow

Beautiful ole house and gorgeous staircase. I really love the wood floors. But so surprised for it to be a 1800s house,no fireplaces in the rooms. Thanks for sharing..

Sad the destruction to such a nice house. 😖. Thank you for speaking loud enough so you can understand exactly what your saying. So many times it's hard to hear.😢

I've been watching these types of videos for a while and I always thought it would be really neat to take over one of these abandoned houses (assuming it is in at least a reasonable state like this place is), pick up all the stuff off the floors, and turn it into a navigation testing lab for robotic vacuums, where I could beta-test algorithms to cover the place most effectively/quickly...

Thank you for the explore. The house has had at least two different warm air heating systems, the older, gravity warm air system can be identified by the larger square floor grills, the newer forced air system is identified by the smaller rectangular floor grills, the duct work running up the walls on the ground floor is from the forced air system. It is possible that there was an even older heating system consisting of wood burning stoves in the living areas and a wood burning stove in the kitchen. As originally built it would have had kerosene lamps for lighting as electrification was at least fifty to sixty years away, I've seen a number of old houses with the only electricity in a bedroom being a single pendant light in the middle of the ceiling, there would be a single bulb with a pull string to turn the lights on and off, it looks like that was how this house was originally wired when it got electricity and the surface mounted baseboard outlets were added much later.

Its a shame they just left the house to rot when we have a terrible world wide homeless problem. Or those who just cant afford the astronomical prices these days. What a waste. 😔

For that graffiti, these kids nowadays are never going to make it in society. Those are the type that won't even make it to their 20's. They are highly pathetic. Anyways that is a really nice house. When I lived in *New Jersey* our house was pretty old but it had an extension on it from the 80's, upstairs we had a glass door knob and the skeleton key to lock the bedroom doors. Those glass door knobs are really old.
