The year is 1983. Joe Silva and his family just moved into their custom 7000sqft dream home in Bowmanville Ontario. Joe was a businessman and owned Durham Building Supplies, while also holding the position of president at Ventury Homes. No expense was spared on their dream house. Its Quality of construction, finishes and attention to detail were top-notch, highly exceeding the homes built today. His family lived in the home for 10 years, selling it to the Haynes Family in 1993 for roughly 455,000. They lived in the home for a short time listing it for sale once again in 2001 for 700k. The home changed hands again to the Bolahood family in 2002. They lived in the home until 2018. A developer offered to purchase the home for 4 million dollars and they took it. Sitting vacant at this point for a few years, the home was nearly destroyed by an arson attempt. The suspect broke into the basement and poured gasoline on the floor, stairs, and walls. It was a raging fire, but thankfully, the fire department was able to get it under control before it destroyed the entire house. It's clear that over the 40 years the home stood, each family took pride in it. The house was always maintained, and never really changed inside, leaving it a near-perfect 1980s time capsule. The development plan is to construct 190 townhouses and 53 single detached homes in its place. This plan has already begun, starting with the homes demolition at the end of 2023. Today it sits as a flat empty lot like it never existed at all.

I hope they salvage all the beautiful chandeliers,door knobs so many things from the 80s. Save the history save the life of this home share it with the world. It’s so beautiful why can’t they sell it instead of destroying it. Thank you for sharing.

I love how you called the kids clubhouse "storage" lol that was definitely a clubhouse, all the cool kids in the 80s had one 😂 it would be so cool to hear from the kids that grew up in this house, all of those memories.

Well if that was a clubhouse it sure looked like a shed to me. Like what the f*** is a kid supposed to do just stand in there there's nothing in it.
@HeatherMcSwayde
@HeatherMcSwayde 3 ай бұрын
@@thestars386LMAO there was literally a swing attached to it and a ladder to get to the upper level and it is in the middle of their backyard, not the best spot for storage! What did you expect a roller coaster on the inside? It's a private spot for the kids to hang. In the 80s that's all we needed. 🙄

@@HeatherMcSwayde LMAO yourself. Again what the hell are you supposed to do stand there? Keep your smart @$$ answers to yourself and besides the facts storage is more appropriate for it. I don't give two 💩💩 if it's in the middle of f****** Pennsylvania.

Beautiful house. Every time you mention the beautiful chandeliers all I can think of is “that would be pain to clean”. I guess if you can afford a house like that you would have staff to take care of cleaning it.

We had a house fire on Memorial Day weekend several years ago. Like this house, the fire department saved most of our home. What you are seeing in most of this house is smoke and heat damage. The fire was contained to the stairway area, which is fortunate. In reality, it was a very small fire considering the size of the house. Smoke can travel to every corner and crevice in the house. The spider webs show up due to the smoke. Great video by the way.

In answer to your question Noah I could have lived in that beautiful house too. The fire damage was extensive, surprised the whole place didn't go especially once it gets in the walls. I too liked the parkay flooring and the sunflower tile floors. Awesome, thank you I like your comments through the video on what you like throughout the house!

I dont think i like progress much when it comes to housing, seems likeeverything is being torn down for,cheaply built, over priced craker boxes that will fall apart in ten years. Thanks, Noah

Canada is going through a massive housing crisis, where there are not enough houses for the people who want to buy them. As a result, prices are out of control and old properties are getting bought up left and right to be redeveloped instead of renovated.

YES ! I would live there. I love beautiful flooring; wallpaper; windows & architecture ! I don't think they build houses this good anymore. In the early 1980's, things were still cheaper and affordable. So the materials & supplies to build this place, probably weren't that high in price. And men doing construction were paid much less than today. By far.

I think you're confused what untouched means. It doesn't mean completely empty. It doesn't mean burned down. It doesn't mean vandalized. It means a time capsule. It means, everything is left, hence, it being untouched. Hence it being untouched, just as it was left/ abandoned. Thank you
