That house is so close to the house I grew up in it’s crazy. But those “secret rooms” are just the left over spaces on those houses that had a lot of angles, kinda like an attic that was used for extra storage. I use to get in those and hide stuff from my parents lol

Hey BigBankz, I love this house, as a homeowner back in the 80's, this place is so cool. I know a lot does not make sense to you but makes perfect sense to me. The small room with the carpet, was a storage room, a crawlspace, in place of an attic. yes, a walk-in closet in the green room, again the secrete room, was just a crawlspace. sorry. the house was amazing, thank you so much for showing us, brought back memories for me. love from N.Y.

@@mars2melodythomas716 I'm 41 and was born in 1982. People in their 40s are too young to have owned a house in the 1980s under normal circumstances as it’s incredibly rare for someone under 18 to own a home. An 18-year-old in 1989 would have been born in 1971, which means that for the most part, the youngest homeowners during the decade of the 1980s would now be 52. This commentor is most likely, however, in their 60s or 70s as most people can’t afford a house immediately upon turning 18.

I like seeing that actually that houses built in the 80s are standing up pretty good. You usually think of them as being flimsy in comparison to the older homes. This one had a lot of nice features. I really like the fireplace in the family room. I love the curve of the brick and the color, too. It's a real shame that they're going to tear this nice home down.

Has anyone else noticed that the outside shots of the house are a completely different house from the inside shots? First big tip off is the garage is on the wrong side of the house. Also, the windows are all different and/or boarded up on the outside shots. From the inside shots, this house has mature trees growing all around it, yet in the outside shots there are no trees. And of course, there's a pool and a basement visible from the outside shots. Something strange is afoot.

@@surfgreatwaves- Bankz greatly exaggerates the backstory of the homes he explores. I can understand why he doesn’t disclose the location of the homes he explores, but I’ve debunked several of his backstories; I wish he wouldn’t exaggerate to the extent he does. The “murder” houses he’s done are very easy to uncover (if you’re savvy enough) and he’s usually way off. This house hasn’t actually been “abandoned”. When the government seizes property, the property is auctioned off at some point. This home has been owned by investor and used as a rental property, hence is why it looks so clean. It’s been sold to a developer and is why it is being demolished.

That last bathroom with the pink- Yes, those bulbs on the ceiling are for heating & work EXTREMELY well. Secret rooms were very common supposedly for storage but kids liked them for hiding and forts. 😅 You can tell it was VERY early 80s as a lot of it looks more like 70s style. However, that last secret room was huge. Not sure what it eould be for other than storage or hiding from the police. 😅😅😅

From what I could see of the area, it looked like they were attempting to build a "mansion" area, as some of those houses in the background looked huge as well. That tile color is called burnt orange. And that was the style in the late 80's and early 90's, was to have tiled countertops in the kitchen. Thats the smallest kitchen I've even seen in a house that size. They must have not been big eaters or cook at home. Yes, thats an electric grill on the stovetop. You can also use the grill lid to put things on to keep them warm. That room with the brackets on the walls was probably the office. Those brackets are shelving brackets, so there were probably shelves bordering the room. Pastel colors were also popular in the late 80's and early 90's. I'm SOOOO glad that era is over! I hate pastels!!!! Yes, those red bulbs in the bathroom are heating lamps. I'm thinking that was probably the grandmothers room, as Asian people usually live 3 generations under one roof.

The house I live in was built the same year as this one. Ours is about half this size, but I see so many similarities. So, first of all, those closet doors are called bi-fold doors. Yes, kitchen counter tops with tile were a thing. Also, fabrics that matched wallpaper was a thing. I don't think the carpeting is true shag - that went out in the '70's. It is probably very plush, though. And homes used to use very nice wood for doors, trim, etc, and so of course it was stained & finished (brown wood). Builders now use cheap/crappy wood, and "remanufactured wood" for the same purpose, but cover it with paint so you don't see how bad it is. I do enjoy your videos - this one is making me alternate between laughing and crying, tho. lol🙂

It makes you wonder where these people went. This house abandoned made me feel sad. It’s very clean. In 1981 they still built houses pretty well. I hate that this house will be torn down. The yard out back looked pretty. To me this is such a waste. Tearing this down and building something in its place is pure greed. Those ceiling things on that last bathroom were definitely for heating. I kept showing my husband the Chinese characters, asking what they meant. He’s Chinese but very Americanized so he had no clue, lol. The first character in that first room looked like horse to him. Thanks for bringing these videos to us. I find them intriguing, somewhat eerie and very sad. These were homes with memories. Now they are abandoned. This doesn’t feel right to me. Yes, I’m a highly sensitive person. Another wonderful video! I was excited to watch this today! It has always frustrated me that in America, we tear down awesome stuff that we could clearly just update and get a family in! I mean this house is SWEET! Nice property that has just sat there empty 40 years. I have always thought we should give people some tax credits or something if they would buy older stuff like this and fix them up and move in, instead of just tearing stuff down. It's so sad we just discard barely used homes in this country.

That green I love. It was called in the 90s light apple green. I had it in my room when I was a kid. I was an 80s baby

Very nice, this house is truly amazing, so, how old of this house, what did that expect.

I always wondered why these houses are not rented out…? The owner could be making $$$ while waiting to redevelop it 🤔 cool video 👍

I was thinking it actually was rented out more recently, those appliances look newer than 1981.

Still a beautiful home. Sad it will be torn down. The mint green room, I wonder if that was the home school room? Those are heat lamps. Wonderful after you get out of the tub/shower.

3rd generation builder,,carpenter .. These guys knew what they were doing,,and did good quality work. The red lamps are heat,,and all the small so called secret rooms are simply extra storage in the unused attic are..a practice of over 150 years in homes..
