Konjac plants have been grown in Gunma Prefecture Japan since the 1500s and now Japan accounts for over 60% of World's share.
Konjac plants are delicate; they prefer well-draining soil, mild summers and dry winters. It takes 3 to 4 years until the plants are ready for harvest and high level of farming techniques is required.
Konjac products are made up a dietary fiber called glucomannan. Glucomannan expands when mixed with water and coagulates when calcium is added, creating a distinct texture unique to konjac.
During the coagulation process, konjac can be colored and shaped into various forms, including squares, balls or thin strings, leading to the development of a variety of products.
In the video will be some main products, especially sponges for washing your face

Thanks for reminding me how they were made since it's been a very long time. I had long forgotten about these since I left Japan thirty-five years ago.

This plant ( Amorphophallus konjac )is sold as a garden perennial in the United States. It tends to be expensive, unlike a “ potato “. I have never heard of eating it, and I’m not sure if any of the many other species of Amorphophallus are edible- always assumed they were toxic because they look kind of evil and not at all appetizing. This genus includes the overwhelmingly repulsive ‘ Stinking Corpse Lily’ - Amorphophallus titanum

I've seen people eating konjac jelly and things of that nature for a long time, but the only cognac I know is the drink which is not in any way shape or form anything like this. Now it makes a lot more sense.😅

Your videos are so good and excellent, all the issues on the subjects are very lovely, very lovely, explain and presented, but you have a very, very big problem, would you keep the printed explanation, you don’t really give it enough time for proper reading, specially when it is a long line, or there is multiple of different information on the screen, or there is numbers and statistics that somebody needs to think of, in the same time, you have a plenty of time to keep that typing because there is multiple of long shots without even any typing, so please give it enough time

Wow I'm amazed. We call this plant as snake plant in our mother tongue coz the trunk looks like a snake scale. They are abundant in the jungle and nobody cares but I never imaging it could be turned into a delicacy. I'm certainly going to educate my village about this.

from 10:14 minutes later. The worker worked very carelessly, using a big can on the ground to scoop out the dough. But the ground is very dirty. And then he continued without gloves to scoop the dough, then used a bucket on the dirty ground to scoop the dough and pour it into the mold. This shop, in general, the machines, the floors... are all dirty, old and very unhygienic, the way he works is sloppy, he doesn't wear gloves. The foods are very unhygienic.
