With very little sleep, I decided to stream some classic today and while waiting for the CD to reset, we checked out some of the Blizzcon cinematics. Many requested if I could upload my reaction so here it is! My reaction to Lost Honor and Terror of Darkshore! I hope you'll enjoy ^_^

I'm still very skeptical. We will have to wait and see how the story plays out. The trailer looks nice, but the fact is the storytelling had them loose ashen vale and darkshore. Dshore and ashenvale should be readily claimed by the night elves expansions ago, and the horde should have been chased out to the barrens.

@Weißer deutscher hetero Mann It makes more sense than what happened in WoW. Honestly, from a warcraft 3 point of view, WoW is just a cluster fuck. Bloodelves and Forsaken join the Horde??? What? Thrall just fucks off for no reason. Sylvanas is op for no reason. It's just a mess. If they ever do wc4 I hope they pick up the story where they left it in tft.

That is the Malfurion that was present in Warcraft 3, the one who took on Archimonde and put his fear in every demon.

@@SAQIBIOUS he never fought Archimonde directly. He just laid a wisp trap for him at the World Tree. Archimonde even mocked him for having Jaina face him in his stead. Archimonde wanted to fight him face to face, but Furion isn't suicidal.

@deenman23 the problem was not that... the director and the direction they took was wrong... they tried to mix live action and CGI to save money and failed... their presented the story as a disney movie

Anduin looking like a blond baby Varian does things to my heart. His decision to style his hair so similarly... dang. My favorite thing about this is that Anduin is almost certainly being quite strategic here. He's been involved in negotiations for years now. He's very good at reading other characters. He knows why Saurfang spared him, but wants Saurfang to say it, to commit

12:30 ok nobble i am well aware that is from legion, but in that moment in time we where stuck between reality and a nightmare, what i am trying to say is this, i don't think that was the actual Malfurion saying those words i think at that moment in time it was Xavious trying to get on Tyrande's nerves, making her feel the dread and fear of knowing her beloved was in danger and she can't do anything about it by making him sound like he was crying for her when most likely he wasn't. why i believe that it was Xavious dark nightmare magics at work? easy i did that zone and it's dungeon like 20 times with different characters, how is it that Malfurion in that questline is "panicing" when you go into the dungeon he is totally full of confident that we are going to win? my though? the questline where Malfurion sounds scared and calling for Tirande was just Xavious messing with us.

Yes, it was just a shade to fuck with Tyrande, but honestly.... that doesn't make much of a difference in my mind. IN GAME the only thing we have really seen of Malfurion is a lot of standing in a tornado for years on end, some minor RP moments during certain quest lines in Hyjal, and him and his wife trying to save each other. Then there's the terrible writing for the dialogue we're forced to listen to during the Dungeon in Legion where he just sounds like an arrogant cocky child even though we're in there saving his deformed chicken butt. We never have seen in game a reason for him to be that cocky and arrogant. Only book readers or people heavily into the lore know that he's actually a super badass that has never had a proper shining moment in game.

Yeah that wasn't the real Malfurion, but my point was more about the role we saw him play. From messing up with Cenarius to being captured leading to that village quest and the death of ysera to really only standing still in the Emerald Nightmare. Now we actually get to see him do something, be the bad ass archdruid he actually is. What..my beautiful impression didn't convey that message? ;)

Saurfang is doing the same as Vol'jin did, he too teamed up with the Alliance, but I don't recall people saying that he was a traitor to the horde, Probably becuz Garrosh isn't Sylvanas....less popular...less waifu xD

Vol'Jin didn't reject the horde when they offered to rescue him, he didn't require a pep talk from the alliance to do the right thing. I hate everything about this storyline, making it so the horde needs the alliance's mercy to even exist. I hated it in MoP and I hate it now.

I was somewhat intrigued with Garrosh b4 he went haywire crazy unlike Sylvanas whom I've honestly hated since the Beginning of WoW to me he was Soooo wasted....there was no need to turn him full-on Crazy, it was sooo lazy and bad....same goes for Sylvanas though, she has always been somewhat "I'm dead I dun care about ur standards" but they're taking it slightly further, or maybe it's just her being in the spotlight so her ego got boosted thinking she's untouchable, I hope against all hope it isnt Garrosh 2.0.....Saurfang behavior is somewhat odd when he was like "I'm not coming back" But it is also in Anduin's nature to seek solutions across the isle, unlike his father and almost the entire Alliance....I doubt he gave him a pep talk tho....it just sounds like he's throwing him infront of the train in a position that Saurfang doesn't exactly....like. He isn't a warchief and while he's somewhat of a leader I dun think he's THAT kind of leader.

@@Ayem339 My personal hope for all this is that the end goal is bringing the forsaken closer to the rest of the horde by Saurfang realizing that Sylvanas and the forsaken are just like the orcs were during the second war. Free from their dark masters but still affected by their curse and unlike the orcs they don't have a Doomhammer who refused to drink the blood, they're all affected by the curse and whatever entity that was behind Vol'Jin making her war chief is like a Mannoroth equivalent for the forsaken. But I feel less and less hopeful that I'll get to see the horde reunite in the way I want with every new thing they reveal.

I welcome the return of the savage Night Elves, the ones that made even the mighty Grom Hellscream's blood run cold. They had been domesticated by the Alliance for far too long. Do you think a divide in the Alliance might be coming? This is just speculation here me out. I highly doubt Tyrande is gonna be cool with Anduin releasing Saurfang, especially since he was there when Teldrassil burned. Speaking of which the Alliance was too late to save the Night Elves from their genocide as they burned and I don't think the Alliance has been yet able to actually send help to the Night Elves since Stormwind's forces have been stretched so thin. The sad fact is, the Alliance has failed the Kal'dorei. What if Tyrande says "fuck this" and bail on the Alliance?

I can see both Malfurion and Tyrande being out for blood after what happened to Teldrassil, moreso than any other Alliance. Anduin still wants peace (at least as an end goal), but at this point the Night Elves wants vengeance. That could be what starts causing a divide in the Alliance.

@@1Kapuchu100 Anduin no longer wants peace (for now). He wants Sylvanas and her Horde to burn. This will not be a divide (though I agree that Tyrande will not be happy that Saurfang is free) but most likely just a shift in ideology among the Alliance.

@@mysteryman7766 Anduin isn't a warmonger. Like he said in the beginning of the first cinematic, he thought they were fighting for peace. He still WANTS peace, but his patience and willingness to give Sylvanas the benefit of the doubt, is running thin.

His only true course of action is to kill her and Nathanos. He realizes this. Its the entire reason he freed Saurfang, because he knows that Varok feels the same way about the Warchief.

So let me recap on what happens in darkshore: >Tyrande gets mad and attempts a ritual for satan >Sira goes YOLO then trash talks the team for not coming to her rescue >Delaryn and Sira are mad at Tyrande and Elune for not being there for them, so they join their murderers to kill off the last survivors of their dying race >Meanwhile Malfurion is roaming around and ganking low lvl horde newbies for much needed orgasm dispension KK got it really cool!

The whole Darkshore thing is a massive disappointment, rather than having the Night Elves straight up kick ass and show why they were arguably the scariest faction in WC3 we get more Forsaken pandering in the guise of a "defeat."

The darker version of Night Elves are far more interesting to me enough of the tree hugging. Also Malfurion was a real bad ass in this cinematic which is how he should of been instead of getting kidnapped all the damn time "Poor Malfurion" blah blah blah. These characters needed this as they have been stagnant for too long I'm glade Saurfang didn't kill him or we wouldn't of got this =D.

Sylvie isn't like Garrosh. She's not just going to sit on her hands and die for a position she never wanted. She'll use the Horde to pursue whatever objective SHE had in mind for this war as long as she can, then when things get bad ... she'll bail. There wont be a Raid to kill her, because she's unlikely to give us an opportunity to. She had a goal, the Horde are a tool, she will pursue that goal with that tool as long as that tool remains useful, but when it ceases to be ... she'll discard it.

Something I've wondered. Is the Night Warrior/Elune's Vengeance a ritual that Maiev also took? Maiev is a very vengeful character and in WC3 her ultimate is to literally become a Spirit of Vengence.

Actually it was summoning an Avatar of Vengeance, that was able raise the angry spirits of the fallen warriors, and those spirits could't be killed untill the Avatar was worn out or was destroyed.

Maiev is driven,in WC3, by hatred towards Illidan,that's just how she is. Also I think the Ritual of the Night Warrior is supposed to be incredibly ancient (very few Nelfs know about it) and sort of,for lack of a better term, taboo

@@nickathanas1898 the ritual is extremely ancient yes, but maiev is way older than tyrande. iirc she was a veteran priestesse of elune at the time tyrande joined them so there's really no reason she wouldn't have known about that ritual. i don't think she underwent the change tho, she's just a crazy badass old lady

The lore of WoW has become some school yard level conflicts. Every expansion ends on a "Let's be friends" and then a great discovery is made (Outlands, Northrend, Pandaria, Azerite w/e) which leads to a "THAT'S MY TOY" and the conflict starts a new.

Plus with some retconning showing his soul being stuck in the helm or even sylvy seeing a helucination of arthas during her last fight, or something could be great. Though i doubt shell die so suddenly if blizzard dont pull the crap they did with the burning of teldrassil. Death is the only thing the void fears, and therefore she is hinted as being the key to defeating the void, maybe some ultimate sacrifice or something. dunno.

I'm supporting Saurfang in this, and it doesn't matter if it's honorable or not. This is about my morals as a Blood Elf paladin, and what Sylvanas is doing goes against both aspects of my character. What Sylvanas is doing is basically reenacting Arthas' campaign, and aiding her with that is an insult to the victims of the fall of Quel'thalas. Not to mention, raising the dead, non the less Night Elves who failed to defend their home and families, goes against my morals as a paladin. Call me a traitor, but as long as Sylvanas is warchief, the Horde is dead to me.

Yet overthrowing her with Saurfang wouldn't be any better. Until he got himself together, I don't trust him either. Vol'jin 'kept the Horde together' as Thrall said in MoP, something Saurfang isn't doing.

@@Berries666 Yeah, many Blood Elves still remember their ranger general, and even as the Banshee Queen, it was Sylvanas who helped us retake our land from the Scourge and convinced Thrall to let us join the Horde, which was our only option at the time. I can see why many of my people are grateful. But I still don't like doing her dirty work.

Saurfang said "I want MY Horde!" ... do you remember who last time was talking about "HIS Horde" ? Saurfang is Orc and he sees only one version of Horde and others might join on the Orcish terms. Sylvanas never was talking about 'reforming' horde into her vision. As much "evil" she might have done to Alliance She never picked her favourite in the Horde. So far she claims (and can't really argrue) she fights for entire Horde survival. We might discuss methods but not the goals that we fight for.

And her Horde really isn't much different from the Horde under Doomhammer, which used pretty much all the same tactics she's using. Might make sense, since she fought against that Horde, so she knows how effective it was and saw what caused it to fail in the end. Doomhammer was keen on gathering more races under the Horde, like Goblins, the Amani, and the Ogres. Sylvanas is doing the same, by gathering the Allied Races we're getting. Doomhammer utilized questionable people to do questionable things, like having Gul'dan make the death knights and allowing necromancy to be used frequently. I probably don't need to explain how Sylvanas is similar in that regard. Doomhammer authorized the enslavement of the Red Dragonflight, and Sylvanas has shown keen interest in enslaving powerful beings to increase her power, like when she tried to enslave the Valkyr lady to make more Valkyr. At the end of the day, the Horde of Sylvanas is more akin to the true Horde as it was under Doomhammer, and I welcome a return to form for our vessel of destruction.

@@DISTurbedwaffle918 There's a key difference though, with Doomhammer we had him wanting to secure a land and a future for the Horde as it is and that's it. Sylvanas, at least from what's described in Before the Storm and A Good War is just using the Horde as a tool for some ulterior plans and motives, which have not been revealed yet whatever they may be. They're doing the same things but for different reasons. That, and the Horde that started with WoW was Thrall's Horde, not Doomhammer's Horde. So its frankly a personal opinion to call Doomhammer's Horde, the True Horde.

@@MrBern-ex3wq I could concede on that, but I firmly believe that the motivations for Sylvanas are merely to remove the threats against the Horde, at any cost, which is similar to Doomhammer's goals. As for which is the true Horde, I would still call Doomhammer's Horde the true Horde, as his Horde seemed to embody the original Orcish perceptions of warfare, whereas Thrall's focused more on seeking peace and understanding, which were not great facets of Orcish society, even before the Blood Curse of Manneroth.

@@DISTurbedwaffle918 I disagree with your take on Sylvanas' goals, simply because she's not as noble as Doomhammer, but well we're all allowed to disagree. Thing is, and the reason why I don't call Doomhammer's Horde the True Horde is that its too centered on the Orcs, and the Orcs only. Sure they sought out non-orcish allies but all to the benefit of the Orcs and the Orcs alone. Where as Thrall's Horde is more of a faction of the "mongrel" races of Azeroth who wish to carve up a place in a world where they would be surrounded by nothing but hostility, AKA the Alliance. Its just a philosophy I can relate to and support more.

@@MrBern-ex3wq That's why I like Sylvanas' Horde. It has the united sentiments leftover from Thrall's with the expansionist and no-nonsense sentiments of Doomhammer's. However, Doomhammer's Horde was also worked to benefit its allies; only the Amani trolls were left hanging, and that's largely because their goals were nigh unachievable once Gul'dan and Cho'gall went AWOL.

While I do love finally seeing Malfurion in all his glory... I'm getting kinda pissed with this stuff. First the Light that pretty much only blessed humans. Then the Draenei - having their Naaru fellas by their side. Night Elves always blessed by Elune and now Tyrande getting a huge powerup from Her. Meanwhile the Horde starts being enslaved by the Legion, trying to be free by getting some other outcasts together, and doing with pretty much only their own strengths; Gets the center of attention because some Forsaken betray everyone, then Thrall has a journey to become pretty much an aspect and losing all that power right after, then Garrosh becomes a total jerk towards the world - and the Horde itself - and now Sylvanas is behaving like Garrosh 2.0. This is total bulls--t. Alliance gets the Cosmic Entities and Horde gets what? To balance between betrayers and minions of the Old Gods?

I don't want to call Saurfang a traitor, but a deserter is a better term. He just gave up on the Horde, then wants to talk about honor and fighting for it, but then talks about hoping the Alliance would stop which would then mean that the Horde falls with her. I don't like her as Warchief either. And they sure as hell didn't need her to be Warchief for her goals. Hell. Everything could have been fixed about this forced plot with having the Battle for Lordaeron being first with the Alliance attacking and Darkshore being retaliation from the Horde the burning Teldrassil from Sylvanas. Then keep Saurfang standing with the Horde. That's all. It would give the Horde a good reason to even care about fighting the Alliance. I just hate everything about this. At least Vol'jin was with the Horde start to finish. the mental gymnastics just to try and understand is unbelievable. Also, I've learned not to fall for a simple cinematic with night elves. They'll go back to being overshadowed by the humans development and weak compared to them by the end of all this. So, whatever. :/

The Horde being defeated, doesn't mean it will fall. The purpose of war is to get the enemy to do what you want. Many wars though out history have been declared to force regime change.

I always thought that the horde had that Mak'gora (duel to death) for when ever someone wanted to challenge the war chief, so I find it weird Saurfang didn't just do that against Sylvanus that way he can die with honor, or take back his horde without appearing a deserter or traitor.

Don’t be delusional - as if Tyrande and Malfurion and Jaina will just suddenly stop seeking retribution for Teldrassil. In 8.1 Tyrande herself says she regrets not killing Saurfang. So even if Sylvanas goes and someone else comes in as Warcheif it changes absolutely NOTHING. This whole idea of “peace when Sylvanas goes” is pure fantasy, nothing more.

People can't really call Saurfang a Traitor for going against Warchief Sylvanas, considering that Sylvanas is technically a far greater traitor than Saurfang.. Players forget that she was involved with and help lead the assault against Warchief Garrosh Hellscream. Saurfang on the otherhand, just left, didn't attempt to attack or kill Sylvanas, unlike Sylvanas who ordered attacks against Garrosh. So I can't help but cringe when moronic players call Saurfang a traitor for leaving Sylvanas' corrupted horde that has abandoned all "Honor", the main backbone of the Horde since it's origins... Honor is the only reason why the Horde still exists to this day in Azeroth as it was Honor that kept the Orcs united and the Races who joined pledge their lives to uphold Honor.. Instead it's the otherway around, Sylvanas and all those who choose to remain in her Horde are the true traitors as she is has made the Horde turn against all that makes the Horde the Horde; Honor.

Sylvanas did not choose to be against Garrosh. She, and all the non-orcs and goblins, were kicked from the Horde by Garrosh, as he didn't see them as worthy subjects. She helped the members of the Horde reclaim their capitol from Garrosh after he exiled them from his Horde. Same applies to Vol'jin in the same context, which is why he isn't a traitor. Saurfang is leaving the Horde and helping the Alliance while everyone else save Baine months later is still willing and following Sylvanas and the Horde. He wasn't kicked from the Horde, he wasn't told he doesn't belong, even in 8.1, she is willing to let him back into the Horde or be killed.

But nothing is more Dis-honorable/Traitorous than Abandoning your warchief, Sylvanas is just doing her role

@@Portergauge He ordered them out, So technically if they were good Horde they'd of followed the warchief's command and remained out. they betrayed the warchief's order then took it a step further and had him killed, then commited the most heinous crime of them all, appointed a non-orc as warchief who ultimately destroyed the current horde by further appointing Sylvanas as warchief. Garrosh was not wrong in his vision of the true horde.. he was creating the greatest horde there ever woudl have been, a horde capible of destroying it's enemies, and once and for all claiming all of azeroth as it's own and destroying the Alliance and all other inferior races. Instead we're stuck with Sylvanas' horde now.. a honorless and perverted horde that can't even stop the Alliance and forced to scorch earth their own lands as they retreat from battle. Garrosh's horde would never retreat, they'd fight til the last man standing and go out in glorious honorable battle.

@Raven actually surfang should be labeled a traitor for siding with silvanas war campaign while he was agains't garrosh campaign. wich both characters (silvanas and garrosh) have the same agenda from assaulting the alliance cities to the use of chemical warfare. and yeah i am calling him a traitor also due to the fact he wanted to die in a battlefield to drown his sorrows (as seen in the siege of lordaeron) instead of facing the banshee queen like voljin did to garrosh , regressing the horde in the process to the bloodthirsty warmongers that they where and gaining silvanas a huge leverage for the amount of corpses that she gathered for the forsaken during this anti life campaign that she made.

Saurfang is a deserter. BFA first arc is badly written, only the end result will show it is was worth it.

Saurfang is a hero for standing up to evil. It doesn't matter what evil calls him. I've never seen a good argument defending what Sylvanas has been doing as Warchief because she does unnecessarily evil things like burning down Teldrassil (not attacking it in the first place - that was actually good for the Horde), killing innocents, and using the plague. It's impossible to defend her actions without being evil yourself so the arguments always fail. Some people think the Horde should be an evil faction but they're a very small portion of the playerbase and quite frankly it's a ridiculous concept if you know anything at all about the lore.

I guess attacking civilian targets is suddenly evil, and not just basic military strategy used by every civilization that's ever gone to war.

Using the plague is strategic, not evil. War itself is bad, so morality in war is laughable and usually costs you the war. If bombing a civilian target saves the lives of your men, do it. If killing POWs in gruesome ways demoralizes the enemy into submission, do it. If a war must be fought, make it a quick war, as more lives will be preserved if it is finished swiftly.

Varok Saurfang helped him mount he was barely a part of it till the end and not really then he tried to sneak in Orgrimmar with thrall he killed what 10 people and was to wounded to go on. In the trial he help pick Baine bloodhoof to defined garrosh but that was after in the end his idea was one v one me bro if you win you go free. sadly if they went throw with that it would be one thing but it never came to be. hell sylvanas, Lor'themar, and Baine back vol'jin sooner and i would not even say they helped voljin mount the rebellion they where just part of it. Voljin and keren started the rebellion keren being the first voice against garrosh and the martyr for it why Voljin when on to make a alliance to overthrow him.

I am actually curious if Sylvanus actually dies who would lead the Forshaken? I can’t imagine Nathanos would be the next leader unless he has some character development leading to Sylvanus’ death. It’s the same right now with The Darkspears is Zappy boi first in line as next Chieftain? With Sylvanus dead the horde tech only have 4-5 leaders (Assuming Saurfang take control of the horde) to Alliance which have a leader for each of their races. Just wonder how the leadership of the horde would be at the end of BFA.

As seen from Alliance perspectiv in ICC, Varian allowed Saurfang as fellow father to recover the death body of his son. Now Saurfang was indebt to the Wrynn familly, which is now a son who lost his father. What we may see is a special relationship between this two famillies. If blizzard doesn't spoil the oppurtunity, maybe we will see Saurfang as a kind of Fosterfather to Anduin in the future, who may fill the Cap of Varian

I know me personally will go with sylvanas on my BE DK, but this maghar orc ill have to 120 by next week will definitely side with saurfang. and ill get to see both sides if they make anything different between the choices in quest wise.

hi nobel i just saw the cinematics bec i was away in trave and wanted to make a request here bec i dont have twitter.. remember varimathras when he said 3 lies the boy king will tell..what if he wanting the help of saurfang was one of them to trick him to destroy the horde and maybe just siege or org 2.0 again and remember when he said she is a patient one to the horde...what if he meant azshara bec she is watching for like i dont know 10000 years maybe...???? what if it was a big lie and what do u think??
