I bought this on DVD a couple of years ago. It was one of my favourite tv programmes.

Picture quality good enough on DVD? 720p? 480p does not match television resolution back then...

I think BBC made the best TV series in the 70s and 80s, like this and the horrific (as a kid) "Sapphire And Steel", this was too much for me as a kid. Their sound department technology was outstanding at the time.

Childrens program's were far more imaginative in the 70s

God. When I was a kid in Nova Scotia in the mid-70s, we had a cottage on Northumberland Strait and right outside my window was a graveyard full of kids from the late 1800s who died of, what? mumps, measles, whooping cough, etc. Terrifying stuff. CBC used to run Nobody's House on the weekends and I'd watch in on the tiny B&W set we'd bring up to the trailer (caravan?) with us. Loved the show, but man, the whole died-of-disease thing shook me up, man. Yeah, I was a fun kid...

I was looking for this for so long but, for some reason, I always thought it was called Mr. Nobody, and eventually gave up.

Thanks for sharing ! This was my childhood trauma for weeks with regular nightmares. Then again, I was a small kid back then in the 70s ; )

I will just echo what the others are saying here. I loved this children's TV series as an 11 yr old. Such nostalgia. Great upload. I wish there was a channel that just showed childrens TV shows from the 70s....

Gosh! So glad I found this gem from my childhood tv days again! I remember watching it on Dutch broadcast at somewhere the same time that Sapphire and Steel was broadcast. I also remember that bad ghost from the last episode of this series scared me out of my socks....still HAD to watch it!

I think Wally and Walter’s a bit of an old fashioned unusual name for a dog though.

Oh I’ve just found out from IMDb that Wally as I kind of thought so was a golden cocker spaniel owned by the actor William Gaunt himself Those credits were tricking me You learn something new everyday.
@benjaminclasper9355 Жыл бұрын
But that would also make sense with the dogs name as Wally with his full name as Walter in the credits and the dog’s last name the same as William Gaunt the actor.
@benjaminclasper9355 Жыл бұрын
Because as well, the character of Peter the father is played by William Gaunt so I wonder if his name was played around with to turn it to Walter gaunt or some trickery going on there.

Does anyone know if the character Wally who’s played by Walter gaunt Is Wally meant to be someone Who the heck is he Or is it that the dogs name Wally is the name of the dog in the programme and is Walter gaunt perhaps a pseudonym or pretend name for the dog’s real name?
