NOBODY Talks About Whitmore Lake Michigan! (Here's Why) - So you’re thinking about making the move to Whitmore Lake, Michigan? Probably not, or your one of the few people that actually know about it, either way, you’re about to learn a thing or two, and this is worth sticking around for
For those of you that don’t know, Whitmore Lake, Michigan isn’t just a lake somewhere in Metro Detroit, it’s actually an unincorporated community between Brighton and Ann Arbor, that’s just over 6 square miles in size with a population of under 8,000 people, and when you try to look up information about it, there’s not a lot going on, so as someone who has grown up near there, listed and sold houses in the community, and have friends near and on Whitmore Lake, I figured I could give you an idea what this area is all about.

The blue roof house in your video was my uncle's lake house, until he passed away in 2005. I spent almost every Sunday in the summer there during my youth. What a great lake to spend time on.

I lived in Whitmore Lake back in 1982 to 1985, it was quiet, the people were nice, and I really like the area. Now prices are too high for homes, the lake is being polluted by the influx of boats with oil and gas leaks. The people have changed, more entitled and inconsiderate that they used to be, but that seems to be the norm for the entire United States these days. Unfortunate how population increases also increase poor behavior and physical abuse of the land.

What I’m saying is people should go and see what I The traffic is like around 6pm to where their job is when moving to anywhere around metro Detroit. Most that move there never expect a 2 hour commute. I lived about 15 miles from my job. That would take an hour and half between 6am-9am or 4pm-630pm. With no accidents.

Born and raised in Whitmore Lake. Moved in 1978 at age 15 to Concord Michigan. Some of the best memories of my life happened at that lake. Oh and my school mate Mike Senic caught a 20lb tiger muskey around 1977

I have lived in the Hamburg and Pinckney area for over 35 years which is west of 23 from Whitmore Lake. Its now starting to get over-built IMO and plan on moving further out. The draw out here now is the chains of lakes and with all the new builds its just ruining the area and lakes

I grew up on Eastshore. My dad's house is in the video. I desperately want to move back there but the prices are crazy. Good for him, bad for me.

It’s wild how quickly the prices have increased. I sold a house under $200k over there several years ago, south of East shore where the smaller houses are. Not a whole lot of options over there to say the least.

Haha. Back in the 90s a girl tried to fight me at a bar. She was from Whitmore Lake. 😆🥴. Tom Adler from Adler Homes built up that area. My Family owns Brown Drilling Co and drilled all the wells back then. Mr. Adler & My Dad had done business since the 70s. They both were good men & sucessful. Those were the good ol’ days. They canceled the fireworks back in the late 80s I believe because so many people would stop on 23 it became a hazard. Do they have fireworks now?

Yes, we always called it shitmore lake. Whitmore Lake and Hamburg were thought of as white trash areas back in the day. I lived in Pinckney for a while and that was a mixture of farmers, rednecks, and upper middle class commuters whose children were all entitled little asshole stoners. We moved away from there 20 years ago and instantly knew we made the right decision.

It’s adorable. The lake is pristine. I’d love to live on that lake if I planned on staying in Michigan. The school district is either South Lyon or Whitmore Lake. The restaurant on the water is delicious.

Thats true it is a small lake town. Like most places out in this area you have to go to Brighton or Ann Arbor for shopping or dining. We are used to it and hate when people move out here and then complain about it not having all the conveniences of living in the city. I live in the town next to Hell

Me too. Our township board voted it down, no retail, no grow facilities. Interested parties obtained enough signatures to challenge and get it on the ballot but township voters said “NO!” once and for all. Best decision ever. Those places are mostly magnets for undesirables, the few medical and fewer responsible users aside. The few benefits are outweighed by the bad, IMO.

Soooo, ready to here the truth 1-theres no place as Whitmore lake, it's Northfield township 2- it's not unheard of, it's over populated and over traversed (compared to 20 years ago) 3-brighton is not a "small town", anymore

Tourism generates nearly $50 billion in revenue and over $3 billion in taxes while employing over 10% of the workforce directly or indirectly. But I get that we don’t need a bunch of wacky libs moving to Michigan, running from the fuxsated hell holes they helped to create. We have enough of our own already! Do you hear me Chicago?

Great place to live! The wonderful water and wild woods are almost enough to make you forget the extreme income disparities along with high sales, income, gas and property taxes. Not to mention the failing public schools, unions, medical systems and infrastructure. Corrupt anti-buisness grifting politicians, over zealous bureaucrats, and social and structural racism all combined to create an elite class of governmental succubi. All of this which is still subservient to the auto industry that supported the original NAFTA and the gutting of the industrial base in the 90's. Which Michigan suffered through the lost decade, the only state to lose population in the ten years before 2000. Sure move to Michigan and suffer.
