You know things have officially hit the fan when the comical characters start crying and trying to kill themselves.

That surveillance footage has some pretty intense camera shots.

This is probably the most powerful scene in the entire game. I actually tear up every time I see this. Sazh loses ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING in this scene. And he deserves none of it. Dajh and Sazh are both tragic. And I hate seeing them like this. Yet he's a great character. Vanille has somewhat the blame and yet Sazh knows it's not her fault. Tragic unhappy accidents.

Sazh was definitley my favorite cahracter in FF history. Like, I love him.

I don't know what's worse: finding out the person you're trying so hard to protect is responsible for the loss of a loved one or the fact you had to hear the bad news from the bad guy

Man, the parts about sazh broke me, and its hard to imagine how hard it must've been to fight back the urge to not get revenge, and some how later in the game, even forgive vanille.

God, that pure look of terror in Sazh's eyes when Dajh get's crystalized...

this was a really good game... played it just recently when the pc port finally came out... wow... what a campaign.... forget all the open world criticism.... what a great campaign n riveting storytelling

This game needs to be remastered for the PS4. it's too good to ignore.

Sazh and Hope are the best characters because they are just normal unexceptional people caught up in circumstance beyond their control and end up doing extraordinary things.

This scene absolutely broke me. Recently played the game and these two are by far my favorites next to fang. Sahz did not deserve what happened to dahj and vanille did not deserve to be a slave to the falcie doing all their dirty work, unfortunately she had no choice. Throughout the game you can really tell how much vanille regrets doing all the bad stuff. Really felt pity for her.

"Tired of living with guilt? Then die with it." That's so motherf*cking' cold! Vanille is the most cheerful person in our group and the fact that she sees herself this harshly... it's so tragic. She's like 16/17 I think? She's a kid... basically responsible for genocide and that's so... that's so...unfair and messed up. The level of drama in this game is just insane. I love it

i love ff13 ( 1-3) so much. if i feel not good somehow i think only just on lightning and to be honest most sometimes vanille. b'cause she is nobodys own girl ( ok fangs girl) but this is ok. i think i love her so much too b'cause she's with girls. for me i believe in a life after this, i am catholic and i know some things are wrong and against my fate. but i can't change what and how i am. this scenes where they show how much vanille is involved and how she really give up and for a short while i think she really is tired and expect sazh would shoot her. its one of the most emotional and truest scene from 13 serie. i mean she was expecting her life ends. her happiness and same time her sadness, not like snow she is someone who fight she is someone who is on her limit and fang is this part who is rude and defense herself. if she were there she would never let sazh do this. she would fight, even if she feels sorry for him. but somehow fang cares more about vanilles life then her. if she would know this awww sazh had trouble then. we are just humans and this one day will come when this life is done. i hope in heaven there is a vanille for everyone. if i'm in heaven i wish i can just hug her, feel her warm skin and her breath and voice who she's whispering in my ears and that she said its ok. i wish everyone his personal heaven even murders, if they really sorry otherwise something like a place not a hell a place where they really should think about and her souls could heal, they should go thrrough ther crime ad victim but everyone deserves salvation some just after they are dead others sooner or later, what should they learn if they just nevet can go in heaven. my personal is really to hug vanille, a friend who lies next to me on the floor watching the rain and is cuddle me. i love vanille she is so cute and really the other dirty things i think may i just not even wish that real love and some kisses. see u in heaven vanille, i think soon❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👩‍❤️‍👩⌛️

This scene is one of my favorites in the entire FF series.

I always wondered why Dajh gets encased in crystal after completing his Focus but everyone else in the series becomes a beautiful pure crystal sculpture I thought for a second that this was a trick

I hate how this game receives a lot of hate. If FF13 didn’t have the Final Fantasy Name, it would’ve been more accepted.

Was it ever explained on why when Dodge completed his assigned task he is encased inside crystal yet when Fang and Vanille complete theirs they are literally turned into crystal instead? Is it cause one is the L'cie of a Cocoon Fal'Cie and the other is a L'cie of a Pulse Fal'Cie ? I've only play FF13 part 1 so far so not sure if this is explained in the part 2 and 3

I'd forgotten how painfully awful the combat in this game was

I felt this could have been 13's "aerith death" moment. If only they had gone through with it, this would have been stand out moment for 13. I liked sazh but I would have killed him off here for that moment. I didn't really like this game but it had its moments.

Sazh sounded better in English. He's one of the few Final Fantasy XIII characters who sound decent in English over Japanese

Have y'all ever noticed that the right hand man or woman of a bad guy in a video game or movie always talks the most shit? Or is that just me?

I hated that he didn't kill her. Would of added more of a impact in my opinion instead of the usual fake out that's in media.

I'm not a fan of Final Fantasy XIII. Don't like the battle system, the summons and the over the top acting of most characters. However, Sazh is a real gem! He's by far the best character in this game. The voice actor is good and his story is truly touching. For me, he's the Balthier of FFXIII, a secondary character who stole the spotlight.

I would have had a lot more respect for the story of FFXIII if they either allowed Sazh to kill himself, or else showed that Jihl stopped him without the fake-out to leave us wondering. They could even have programmed in something like a hidden meter that went up and down with different actions and which, during this scene, if it is not high enough, Sazh kills himself and is gone from the game. It also makes no sense whatsoever that Jihl would stop Sazh from shooting himself. She was more than happy to let him hunt down Vanille and possibly kill her. Why would she stop him from doing her job for her and offing himself? I also think the Brynhildr boss fight came at the wrong time. Eidolons in this game are supposed to show up when you've given up. And, while Sazh admittedly gives up any hope right before Brynhildr appears, it seems like he also gives up right the fuck after when he, you know, TRIES TO SHOOT HIMSELF. All in all, as powerful as this scene is, it raises far too many issues for it to be my favourite.
