That's really dope, I've kind of slept on DoTMM, but might have to get it and bust out the OG Undermountain module to compare.

Probably my favorite campaign module. (I have the book and the DM screen for it.) Having played through this campaign a couple of different times (Halfling Wizard & Drow Elf Warlock), here're my observations, FWIW: 1. Bring a healer with you. Preferably a dedicated healer. And make sure to protect that S.O.B. at all costs. (If the party can afford to do so, bring a backup healer too, in case the primary healer is S.O.L.) 2. For the traps in this dungeon, if there's no Rogue in the party, having a Necromancer of some sort is massively helpful, and probably the next best thing to having a Rogue (when it comes to opening trapped chests and doors). 3. Halfling Divination Wizards and Custom Lineage (Variant Human) Chronurgy Wizards will help immensely across all aspects of the adventure. Some skill checks and trap-based saving throws are fairly high, so stacking the odds in your favor, in those situations, can make the difference between surviving and not. 4. Have a backup PC ready in case your PC goes down. I've seen people go through a sheet or two before getting to the halfway point. 5. Party Composition: 1-2 martials (fighter, paladin, or barbarian), 1-2 healers (life domain cleric, especially), 1-2 skill-focused characters (bard, rogue, artificer [w./tools], etc.), and 1-2 arcane casters should work for a party between 4 and 6, provided they synergistically work together, strategize their skills/abilities together, and they don't intentionally screw each other over. For Wizards, specifically: The Keen Mind feat may seem like a bad feat, but having a backup spell book in your head can make the difference between being useful and useless in this adventure. Consider taking it, or consider making more than one backup spellbook copy. 6. Pace yourself. An adventure of this magnitude takes anywhere between 12 and 18 months to fully complete, depending on how often the group plays.

I’m surprised you didn’t include the Dungeon Delver feat
@simondiamond96287 ай бұрын
@@who3730, I find the Dungeon Delver feat rather underwhelming. For reference, I've posted the oracle text from the PHB: ============================ Alert to the hidden traps and secret doors found in many dungeons, you gain the following benefits: You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) and Intelligence (Investigation) checks made to detect the presence of secret doors. You have advantage on saving throws made to avoid or resist traps. You have resistance to the damage dealt by traps. Travelling at a fast pace doesn't impose the normal -5 penalty on your passive Wisdom (Perception) score. ============================ If you compare this to what the Rogue normally gets via class progression, you'll find that much of this is not necessary. Combined with anyone who can cast Silvery Barbs, Shield, or Absorb Elements, and the party effectively doesn't need this feat. By going line by line, however, hopefully you'll see my rationale... "You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) and Intelligence (Investigation) checks made to detect the presence of secret doors."

I think "fully fleshed out in full detail" is a bit generous. This book is infamous for its lack of detail, lack of art, and overall lack of game design. Fortunately the Companion makes up for it!

Man, I wish that I could run modules well. I just never get it right. And it's mostly for this dungeon. It's so cool to think that this can take you all the way from 5th level to 20th, and take you through a "best of" of the entirety of 5th addition. Sigh. I'm sure one day I'll see a DotMM campaign to the end...

What level should a party be before putting them through something like this? Don’t wanna tpk them that quick
@NoFunAllowed2 жыл бұрын
1st floor of the dungeon would require a level 5 party!
