Nice. Always liked George Montgomery's work, and Geraldine Brooks, Nehemiah Persoff also . Get more out of a 90 min. Film , than these 3-4 hr slogs they show now , like they don't know when to end it , and results in overkill.

It's a good thing and a pleasant surprise to see 'Cowboy George" in a more contemporary setting; sort of a modern-day (up to 1957) version of his Western themed background history in films and TV. Cimarron City ho ho ho! LOL Speaking again on typecasting, it's almost hard to envision him as anything other than a Cowboy. I'm almost sure his role/part here actually works, but it's good as an effort on its own merits. A GREAT FIND. it's a good thing to find the seemingly endless cinematic activity between TV and movies back then, during the mid last century, and on forward...

This was pretty good! George and Leon were great and Nancy did a decent job in her film debut and was stunning. Poor Ricky couldn't act his way out of a paper bag and the ending was abrupt but that happened a lot in these types of movies

The abrupt endings were typical of most Hollywood movies. Around the sixties, they tended to start having a longer winding down final scene.

Many poverty row studios made B films of a Noirish nature that were better than those made by the major studios. Philip Yordan's story made an impressive attempt at illustrating teenage rebellion, tension & angst especially in the Eisenhower era of post-WW II and Korea when juvenile delinquency was a serious problem; those unable to adjust eventually landed in prison for years. Nehemiah Persoff had a long and busy career playing good & bad guys on the big/little screens. Geraldine Fitzgerald came into her own with a great film costarring John Garfield. George M -- a law enforcement officer in blue as opposed to wearing a badge & riding a horse -- is still a good guy & still typecast. Nevertheless, it's good to see him fighting crime in the urban jungle instead of on the prairies of the Wild West even though this movie should get a wider audience to see a perfect example of 1950s macho GM -- a good guy to the very end.

Even Nehemiah Persoff finds himself cast in a rare, contemporaneous role as compared to his TV and other film roles up to that point. His later cameos were varied, from 'Playhouse 90', 'The Untouchables" , and 'The Naked City', etc. to 'The Big Valley', and other TV westerns and even some sci-fi//lite horrorsi nto the '60s..

The old timer is a good cop, making sure the daily runnings of the street are all smooth and everyone gets on. Enter Johnny. The cop that gave 'the filth' the bad name. The power hungry cop that has absolutely no idea and causes more trouble with his narcissistic personality, undoing all the years of work that oldmate did.

What a low budget joy! Cheap sets. At the 3:10mark, when the cop bumps the thug on the right, he stumbles and hits the backdrop of the building they are standing in front of and you can hear the hollowness of the "stone" wall. Lollol!

Though dated, it certainly had atmosphere, but it was more like an inconclusive episode, rather than a complete film. We didn't see Johnny clear his name and bring down the corrupt officers, or get his girl. This would have made a good pilot for a TV series of that time in the States...
