Great video as always Abdulla and I agree totally, I had my xr20 as my work phone and it's phenomenal!! I work in a very poor reception area and always struggled with getting calls and messages etc, the signal reception is unreal!! I may be old school, but my phone firstly has to be a communication device and this excels! Battery, haptic engine, and even the camera excellent (other companies at this price point are far worse) I did put a tempered glass on as victus does scratch, but this is a very solid device! All in all after a month of using this in work, I Love it!!

A nice well rounded review. One thing that really excites me about this phone is that it can be be used without a back cover. If I was to buy a new phone right now, this would be my first choice. I prefer full HD instead of higher resolutions because of battery efficiency. I wonder why many tech channels totally skip Nokia phones now a days, perhaps it's because of lack of flagship. But, considering the current life of smartphones which is 3 years, it's better to get a mid range device like this one rather than a high end 1500 dollars device.

This is one of the prettiest Nokia in 2020-2021 IMO, and I don't mind the thickness if it means we can leave it naked, since most of us uses casing for a phone anyways My only problem with it is the weight and the size. i think the Nokia 7 Plus is the Best HMD made Nokia's.. and i think, it's the most sold HMD Nokia or at least one of the best selling.. The Design is Fantastic, performance is good and Camera (that time) is competitive and the price that time is just right. But this year, yes it's XR20

Great review, I am considering a well built phone that can take my man style handling, and phone, text use, not so much a gamer. I love my old E700 SLIDER, but will be moving away from cracked screened Samsung's etc, The true usage for me, is a great connection, as Nokia has always mastered, rugged yet cool looking. I just bought one of these on the 21st of July, 2023. It is a very hefty device with pin, fingerprint AND face recognition. It comes with the charge brick and cable and mine had ear plugs with a kill switch. As soon as I installed the sim and turned it on it went straight from Android 11 to 13. You can disable the Google button in Setup. search for it. This is great for movies and music videos, but the strength is the phone's usabilty. It is great as a phone...clear as all get out. SD card usage for me means NO BLOODY CLOUD! The cloud is hackable.

Would be interested to know whether the difficulties with the power button (built in finger scanning reversing sleep) have decreased with time and familiarity.

I wish they would come Up with a compact model with software compatible with example Sony Xperia 5s or Samsung compatible ones that would be something!

Im seriously considering nokia for my next phone, but i have gotten used to my OLED screen since almost every samsung has one, samsung has became too expensive. Anybody got opinions about them, please and thank you. This phone seems like a good replacement to my A51 5G as the size and specs are very similar with a few extra goodies like wireless charging. I've had this for about 4 months and I love this device, but it certainly isnt for everyone. Mostly because of the durability as people can just slap a case on any phone and get similar protection this phone has. The specs definitely aren't up to par, but I wanted a device that put physical aspects first and this delivers exactly that. Still has the headphone jack with an SD card slot and uses stock android that promises about another 2 years of OS updates from now. And still powerful enough for my Pokémon Go sessions. One thing that would make this better is the fingerprint scanner not reading random parts of my hand as an attempted unlock. (Maybe only have the scanner activate when the display is on?)

Reverse order here, but I just had my XR20 delivered to me a few days ago. Can confirm, it feels like a tank but in a good way. I'm aware that there's a new version, but the XR20 was just 2400 danish kroner, which would be about 350$. As for the internal hardware, I upgraded from an ancient and smashed Samsung Galaxy Edge 6, and the difference is night and day, which would have been true for every modern phone. Good battery life so far. Screen bright enough for outdoor use. Snappy fingerprint reader, fast face unlock. Has space for a micro SD card. Camera seems good though nothing amazing.

But which one is your choice for daily use, 8.3 or xr20?

Great review as always. While I really like my current Nokia device, I have to be honest, the XR-20 is a very appealing choice as well. Probably one of the best and strongest devices in the Nokia smartphone portfolio. And that is saying something. This is why I like Nokia phones. They may not shine in one or more particular areas in terms over the top features or specs, instead they are good and solid across the board. Instead of offering the latest bells and whistles, Nokia smartphones give you what you need for a well balanced, functional and useful customer experience. For me that makes all the difference.

How has Nokia been doing with updates? I can be fine with a delay in OS updates (I've used Motorola for years so I'm used to it lol) but have they kept up with security patches thus far and have they gotten Android 12 on the XR20?

When it will come in KSA? ANY IDEA?

I'd really like for Android smartphone manufacturers to make the buttons reprogrammable. Especially when these activate mostly useless features. Moreover, Nokia has rightly made the power button less prone to accidental presses. So why not the other one?

So my question is the following to you, though I personally like the concept of the XR20, is this enough for Nokia as an android brand to survive? Cause I had to scroll back to find the first phone with a decent CPU from Nokia, the 5.4 from last December. They have released a bunch of phones named Xsomething or Gsomething with the SD 480 5G or something from Unisoc. Tbh with you I don't see where Nokia is now positioning itself, or where are the decent mid rangers with SD 750 5G or the high end ones with a SD 870 or something. Why Nokia is not decentralising it's portfolio? Where are the gaming phones (ngage, S60 based smartphones had great gaming performance, I had a 701), where are the camera heroes (808), where are the business phones (old 6xxx series and the late E series, communicators and 9xxx series), where are the music players with stereo speakers and dedicated audio chip (the late 5xxx series, I had a 5310), where are the unique ones with great design ideas (7xxx series and N series, I saw the N950 on KZfaq, omg!!!!) and where are the luxury ones (8xxx series). They have thename "Nokia" but they are not using it. I am a Nokia fanatic too, I have a drawer full with Nokia and Lumia phones, but this Nokia is not giving anything valuable or truly "Nokia" to the market. I am not at all feel urged to buy anything from them, as I just wait until they throw in the towell. I've noticed on some pictures ive taken that when i zoom in a bit i see white dots all over the image. Why is that? I noticed it more using the ultra wide camera.

Good thing about ultrawide cameras on midrange phones nowadays is that they are mostly still better than the ones found on LG flagships 2-3years ago.

As the owner of a 9 PureView, with Nokia's offer of a 50% discount on an X Series phone, the UK price of a XR20 is reduced to £185. Even with it's noted shortcomings, an XR20 for that price must be a worthwhile buy.

Really wish Nokia would just bring back the colorful Lumia design. Don't know why they can't do that right now, but probably due to trademark and license issue from Microsoft I guess.

I'm Interested in the Nokia 8.3, I currently have the Nokia 9 pureview which is an absolutly greatly Phone packed with features..but it only supports band width of 2g/3g.. only transmit 4/g with tex and the internet but not with calls.. so unfortunately I have to change phones... The 8.3 display says it's a pure display any idea what that means? compared to the gorilla glass?

When Nokia company started making phones, its keypad phones were of weak build quality, the phones used to break easily if they fell on the floor. But later Nokia made a lot of improvements in the build quality,But when HMD entered Nokia, it paid a lot of attention to the build quality. For example, Nokia 6.1, 7Plus, Nokia 8 etc. The build quality of this phone was excellent.

in terms of extreme outdoor usage, this phone is actually surprising. signal reception is the least covered aspect these days which imo you should do more tests against other phones in weak reception areas. speaking about camera, I'd say take some RAW shots in Lightroom. It'll turn off pixel binning (no 48MP) but you can assess camera firmware and lens strength from there without relying on vendor extensions. regarding PD specs, hmd probably will bump it for the X series given G series now has 18W PD. It's the matter of licensing from Qualcomm/Mediatek/Unisoc given firmware does control charging speed. anyway tons of SD480 device actually felt like being spoilt of choices than annoyed for me. Rugged? XR20. Regular? X20/X10. Cheap? G50/G300 (carrier exclusive). At least there's no flooding of G series and X series from what I've seen. Looking forward with that G50 review that you've been showing in this video as China marketing material flexes on RAW performance and AI upsampling to make up for the lack of macro lens (probably China only variant but doesn't hurt to check if it's present on global variant)

I have a question sir. Sir even if as a Nokia fan we and every Nokia fan get baised to the name Nokia because to a lot of people it's more than just a brand it's equivalent to an emotion to the fans and people like us. Do you think or support the way Hmd global is dealing the name ? or the way they are producing new products. They ruled out other midrange socs and chose 480 plus as a presentative of Nokia Devices. If they could achieve such a great performance with mediocre SoC like 480 or 480+ why don't they be competitive and dive into the competitive market by launching the products with 6xx or 7xx series socs and tryout their patents to use Symbian and meego to pull out what was best in those two and merge it with the Android. It will be the best of both the worlds. They'll able to stand out in terms of UI experience also they can bring back lumia design with new fresh touches and pureview by working with Zeiss and just not slapping their name on the camera bump. Don't you think Hmd is just trying to earn and waiting for the Nokia Devices to die again so that by the time Hmd dies everyone in the Hmd will be holding lockers completely filled the bank and Nokia Devices will die again ?

I bought a new XR 20 (128GB) last week and when video calls using WhatsApp, MS teams or Duo is made the using the front camera, some bad processing happens and a low quality video is produced during the call. The issue is only for the front camera. I did all the steps suggested by he technical support from HMD global and did factory reset twice. But the situation is the same. Any one facing the same issue?
