They are untrained ladies trying to escape abuse. They likely come from south of the Border in countries where what we know of digital tracking isn't as common knowledge. Give these ladies props for making it as far as they did.

Running like that, in a true SERE situation, involves a lot of emotional difficulties. People bring things along that they don't need, leave behind stuff they desperately need, and generally get as far as they do through luck and sheer will. It's pretty accurate to bring a phone; it's a familiar object, it's insanely useful, and it's the type of object that people will focus their emotions and brain upon for survival without thinking of the downsides of it. It's a lot like people who bring along guns in a survival situation, when 90% of the time they won't need them... They focus on its usefulness without thinking of all of the downsides of brings.

Honestly with how close they were and how grouped together the enemy was they had a decent chance of taking down at least a pair each before taking any fire themselves.... and given they are vested up, who knows long term who would come out ahead.... they could've lasted till back up came potentially. Only downside is they have no cover available, and the bad guys do.... but I doubt those cowboys would be fighting smart lol

A similar situation was in the John Wayne western "Big Jake," when the heroes were forced to deliver a ransom at gunpoint. Kidnapper Leader: "Now, if anything goes wrong...YOU DIE FIRST. YOUR fault. MY fault. NO ONE'S fault. YOU DIE FIRST." Pretty sure the attack dog hesitated because he had a good feeling he would be one of the first to die.

Unless the fate that awaits you coming back “empty handed” is far worse/grislier than a “hollow point in the eye.”

Frankly every show is going to take liberties with certain aspects but as long as the show has a good story and good characters I think most people can live with it after all if we wanted 100% authenticity we would watch a documentary.

The funds are often used to finance black ops. While the people on the receiving end of new technology will increasingly be the US ctizens who refuse to bow to their "new order".
