I was on those oxys and hydros for 10+ years after my spinal injury on my first deployment, also had multiple brain injuries that caused big problems like seizures. Lost friends in my arms, all kinds of crazy. Those pills made all the pain go away. All of it. Too much of it. They were killing me and keeping me alive at the same time. It was super easy to become completely dependent on them. Took me years to get off of em. More years to get right. When i finally did, you have to learn how to do shit like sleep again. Weeks of no sleep is a real deal. 8 years sober now and i help disabled vets get out of that hole. Mad respect No Life. Keep up the good work.

I know I’m late to this reaction, but Juice’s music, in particular this album, and his honesty with the struggles that eventually got the best of him and took him way to soon, touched me so deeply and profoundly that I felt compelled to write something anyway. I came from family generational wealth. Then our part was mostly lost by my father in terrible financial and business decisions. As a result, while in my late teens, my family and I saw the dark side of poverty and desperation. However during those lean years, without privilege, I also had great times and great friends anyway, and a lot of happiness and great memories running the streets with them. Saw a lot of them die also, experienced the great pain of great loss early, and overcame my own addiction; even as I buried my friends, some from addiction, some straight out murdered, in the prime of their youth too; it was as if the streets just opened up and swallowed them whole. Even though it was many years ago now, I forever mourn them, and the ones I love, those that touched my soul and touch it still. However, I was tenacious and determined enough to fight back, to successfully complete higher education, and to go on to have my own very successful career, independent of any family wealth, and returned to living a very comfortable lifestyle, on my own hard work and merit. But it could have just as easily been me in a box back when. I was just lucky that I survived it all. Against a lot of odds. So one could say I’ve seen life from both sides, both poverty and wealth. Both had highs and lows. Both have taught me much. But there are truths that people who have never had money just don’t understand. I wrote all that to write this: Money can solve a lot of practical problems. But Money does NOT buy happiness. If you’re in pain, anxiety, depression and deeply unhappy, all money does is make you more comfortable while you’re miserable. Comfortable misery. That’s what money does. Juice was a huge loss culturally and artistically. His talent was staggering. His honesty a revelation. And he barely even got started. But he learned fast that money did nothing for his inner pain, or to solve inner problems and struggles. You can’t pay your demons off to leave you alone. They’re there whether your bank account reads 2 dollars or 2 mill. And sadly, Juice displayed those lessons in the most final way one can. Gone massively way to soon, needlessly, his demons finally catching up to him in a heart wrenching and final way. As a long time recovered addict, I can say from first hand experience: When you can’t stop chasing that dragon that you can never catch, eventually the roles reverse, and that dragon ends up chasing you. Chasing you till it catches up, and sets you ablaze, burning you into the oblivion of the great beyond. If you never successfully recover, that road eventually only leads two ways: to a box or to a cell. And that’s cold facts, hard truths, absolutely the reality. For anyone who reads this, if you are struggling with addiction or mental health, please consider seeking help. You don’t have to fight your demons alone. People are out here that are ready and willing to help you fight these battles, who will have your back and help you beat those demons, will help you survive and start living the life you want to. If I could and can do it, anybody can. You matter. You are worthy. You are not alone if you don’t choose to be. Peace, safety and love to you and yours. RIP to Juice WRLD. Gone but never forgotten.

During that Em’ speaks interlude/skit, when he talks about being awake for 3 weeks, that’s not from being on the pills, or a side affect of taking the pills, but thats from the withdrawal symptoms of coming off the pills. Sleeplessness is one of the worst symptoms in withdrawals, especially when you trying to fight it and catch some zzz’s but your body just toss & turn all night. It sounds to me like Em just accepted he wasnt gonna catch a good nights sleep so he just sits staring at the TV. Anyways, I say all this for people who might not know, to help further their understanding of what the addicts are experiencing, and so you know that there is nothing in this world worth experiencing something as simple as not being able to catch some sleep, even when your body desperately need it

If they had around my level of anxiety and depression I literally can't imagine living how they did, millions of people watching your every move, constantly moving around never having a place feel like home, rappers getting robbed and killed constantly. And they were already addicts who lost tons of friends, imo giving someone with crippling anxiety and a drug addiction overnight fame is a death sentence if they don't have great people supporting them and with fame comes fakes.

My son got me into him year's ago. I'll never forget when he passed away. My son called me inconsolable and we were just devastated. He had a realness about him, something that cant be duplicated. A True lyricist gone far too soon. I'll have 10 years clean and sober this year, and this resonates with me. I also lost my sister to an accidental overdose sept 12th 2014, i miss her dearly. This just makes it that much more painful.
