I had my 4 year old nephew in church one day and when the songleader asked for requests, my little nephew raised his hand and asked for "Low Rider." Every one busted up laughing. (It wasn't in the hymnbook, he had to pick another song😄😄😄). I will never forget that day..

This song was used in the opening credits of the Cheech and Chong movie "up in smoke". That video is comedy gold & you should see it. These guys were HOT in the 70s. Stoner style humor! I was a teenager in the 70s and loved them!!

I can feel ya, Twon. Before knowing this is a song by War I thought it was ZZ Top because this voice reminded me of Billy Gibbons in "La Grange". BTW, War started with a white singer, Eric Burdon, formerly in The Animals (House of the rising sun). You have to check out "You got the power", totally different but even more uplifting.

I'm just curious - why does his skin color make a difference? It bewilders me. People were allowed to play the music they wanted to play and the talent or creativity of the person was the deciding factor and a person, the audience, came to expect that "back in the day". I never thought we were all supposed to be on different teams determined by the "color of our jersey", so to speak, or the color of our birthday suit, to put it another way. Tho I must say everyone pretty much thought John Fogerty WAS born on the bayou. Lol. I appreciate your honest reactions. Thank you for sharing them. 👍🙂
