I often lament the lack of recognition for great musicians like Phil Keaggy just because they are Christians. But, they made the choice. I don't think they have any regrets.
@tl54044 жыл бұрын
I hear you and agree. Fast forward years now, to see that twinkle in Phil's eyes that is alive and clear, his smiles cheerful and the sense of peace about him, he chose the pure way and having that peace and having recognition from God is bigger than any world recognition. He chose to not get sold out to the world, a very different path, a light shining through the era of the sex, drugs and rock n' roll era. So heart warming and encouraging for us younger ones to carry on our race to stand firm and chose the narrow and different way, when the temptation to go the easy way or get sold out to other things is there.

@@tl5404 The only thing I look forward to is to hear God say, "Well done." I do not care if anyone else acknowledges anything I do in praise. once you see Jesus in part, because we will not know fully until we see him in person, personal desire for praise fades away.

I've loved Phil's music since the start of his career. What is great about this recording is it appears we are actually hearing what was played--unlike so many so-called "live concerts" where so much is redone in the studio after the performance. Those are really nothing more than a video overlaid onto a studio recording. This is raw, warts-and-all, and that makes it so much more real and in my opinion, so much more enjoyable. You can really tell how good the musicians are when playing live.

I remember Phil relating how he told Ted Nugent one time (Glass Harp had opened for the Ambury Dukes) that he would only share a riff with Ted if Ted would allow him to share The Gospel with him (which Ted replied "forget it" to). Years later, Phil said that, having some years to mature, he would've freely shared that riff with Ted without obligating him to hear the Gospel. Sometimes, it is our love, not our words alone, that draw unbelievers to believe in Christ. We don't need more Pharisees, but more humble beggars to show others where we found the bread of hope & life.
