I have the Nomura Kuro Revenge 8ft 15-35 and its way way better than my same spec abu garcia which was 3 times the price. Mine is a match made in heaven with the Penn pursuit 3 2500 size. Great video btw sir.

That's very similar to my own setup. I used to combo it with a sienna 2500, but ever since I slapped a Penn wrath 4000 on, it's an animal to be reckoned with. I'll definitely have a look at the "no crack" soon. Has a good price point and a good general action.

Great to see a true and honest review Cal, looking at getting a spare rod for when my son comes out with me, unfortunately this rod seems to be sold out with a lot of retailers, hopefully find one soon. Thanks again 👍

Nice segment Cal. You are dead right about what you say about not spending a fortune on a rod etc and it proves it because you catch a hell of a lot more bass than me and I've got a high end rod 🤢 If people learn their marks and don't give up any rod suitable for the venue is sufficient 👍 Loving your stuff on KZfaq and you are very lucky to be fishing at such beautiful venues 🙏

Thanks a lot mate 👍🏼 Yeah the rod I’m using can handle quite a bit. If I was able to afford the more expensive gear then I’m sure I’d really like it but you really don’t need to spend a fortune on a rod to be able to go out and catch a few bass. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it. 🎣

@@FISHINGWITHCAL yeah I broke the bank to be honest Cal but the rod I have is nothing special over the cheaper rod I was using so I agree totally its not the rod or reel it's all about the lure and knowing how to work it properly👍

Yeah that’s a nice set up. That’s a very similar set up to what I’d be looking at getting to take away with me. Something a bit heavier but still light enough to have some fun with smaller species. 👍🏼 Thanks!

OI OI Cal i can say that the never crack was a nice rod ..but.. one day i caught the train to go fishing and as the train pulled out i could see it next to the bench '' i got off the next stop but it had gone by the time i got back was gutted . so went to tackle shop to buy a new one but they never had any in stock so ended up with a shimano vengeance .. it was about the same price and i have to say its been awesome little rod . i agree you do not have to break the bank to enjoy your fishing .. as long as it doe's the job its a winner stay cool dude take care and have fun mate

Ah that sucks! Shimano make nice rods as well so all is not lost haha. No need to break the bank no, especially when your rod is getting a bit battered on the rocks etc. Thanks for the comment 👍🏼 Cheers John!

Hi Cal - help please! I remember watching one of your vid's last year in which you bought a new boat rod. If I remember rightly, it was also a Nomura (not 100% sure), about 7ft in length and circa 15g - 40g+. However, I can't remember what it's called!? Needless to say, I'm in the market for a boat rod and anything that gets your seal of approval is more than good enough for me. Cheers - and thanks in advance. ;-)

Hi mate, it was a Nomura Samurai, I think it was 20-50g. The first time I used it on my mates boat, I snapped it 🤦🏼‍♂️ it was my own fault. I hit a rail on the boat as I was casting and it snapped into 3 pieces. I’ve since bought a Penn Conflict inshore lure rod. That’s also 7ft and is 10-50g. I’ve used it from the shore and it’s a really nice rod with a lot of strength. I’ll be using it on the kayak this year.
@FISHINGWITHCAL
@FISHINGWITHCAL 2 жыл бұрын
The Samurai was a nice rod but I like a longer handle on my lure rods whereas the Samurai had a shorter handle. I hardly got to see how the rod fished though as it only lasted about 5 casts 😆🤦🏼‍♂️👍🏼

@@FISHINGWITHCAL Thanks for the swift replies Cal - much appreciated. Interesting that you didn't just get another Nomura Samurai and went with the Penn Conflict instead: I'll check them both out.
@timwilcox960
@timwilcox960 2 жыл бұрын
@@FISHINGWITHCAL Hi Cal - sorry to bother you again! Looking at the Penn Conflict - you say it's rated at 10g - 50g - which is ideal for me. However, Penn don't give a lower casting weight, stating: "We don’t generally include a minimum weight because showing a minimum casting weight is usually very difficult, since it really depends on what type of lure is being used." So, would I be right in thinking the lower (10g) rating you've given it is based on your experience (assuming it's not printed on the rod)? I ask as I want the option to be able to cast 15g - 20g lures into gullies and around structure etc. inshore, as well as 40g+ lures into deeper water further out. I won't hold you to it but, in your opinion, would the Penn Conflict cover both bases?
@FISHINGWITHCAL
@FISHINGWITHCAL 2 жыл бұрын
@@timwilcox960 To be honest with you, I bought the rod to cover more fishing on the higher end of the casting weight. I wanted a rod which could blast out a 30g or 40g lure no problem and the other lure rods I have are rated up to 30g only. I also wanted it for light ledgering from the kayak too so with it being a little stiffer in the tip, I thought that would be good. So to answer your question haha, I’ve not used any lures under 20g with that rod yet so I couldn’t tell you how well it casts a lighter lure. My guess would be that it should be fine. The Nomura 20-40g rod I had could cast a 40g metal to the horizon and I’d fish lures under 20g with it a lot of the time, which was never a problem.
