Yeah, I agree. Nomura was excited to be working on a Final Fantasy project of his very own with the success of Kingdom Hearts 2, but because it took so long due to the fact that he was forced to help with Final Fantasy XIII and the side content of Kingdom Hearts, it makes sense that he's stressed out, and the fact that he had to step down on top of it and Tabata was forced to pick up the pieces, not to mention Tabata leaving, I wouldn't be surprised if Nomura sent in a letter of resignation. Which, I think may be the best thing for him honestly. Maybe he and the Osaka team could Join Tabata's studio.

Honestly, I agree with you. I won't deny that I got frustrated with Nomura's style of development and how secretive he was, but upper management at SE really screwed him over by constantly pulling him and others from the team to work on other projects. If I could have my way, I'd probably get an FF game with Nomura as a creative director (he's always been amazing in that role) and Tabata as the overall director since he seems to be great at delegating and making sure things get done. Plus I liked how Tabata went to the fans for feedback then actually acted on that feedback the best that he could.

Nomura and Tabata together on a project would be neat; they have very different game design philosophies (Nomura is very classic JRPG while Tabata is more Western RPG), but they could probably complement each other well. Now that Tabata's left, that probably won't ever happen unless Nomura quits (which will probably never happen unless he's able to take Kingdom Hearts with him). Real shame.

He was taking too long and the project was going nowhere. Something had to be done. He had years and years to complete Versus XIII and he never did. Hopefully the same thing doesn't happen with FF7 remake

J Smith The guy had been put in charge of several projects at once without his knowledge, and he was having to make an open world game using the same game engine that FF 13 had and FF 13's game engine was not meant for making open-world games. Can you really blame him for taking a while? I'm not saying that Nomura's entirely innocent in what happened, but I do think a much larger amount of the fault lies with Square Enix, not Nomura specifically.

Andres Mata same. i liked ffxv alot for what it was, i could actually say i love it despite its many flaws. i think its the great group of friends, aesthetically pleasing combat, and amazing musical score that makes me feel like it had such immense potential.

I just got the secret ending. Since these comments we'll be hidden let's discuss lol. It appears to me that Nomura is implying that the next game will be either, Verum Rex, which is Versus 13 remade as its own franchise separate from anything else, or KH will no longer be about Disney crossovers, and will be about The World Ends With You/ Final Fantasy, and Verum Rex's protagonist Yozora, who is basically Noctis. And if either of those are the case I NEED IT.

I get the feeling that the next Kingdom Hearts game is going to shift focus from Disney to Final Fantasy in an extreme way (the only FF character to appear on KH3 was Moogle ), so maybe only Mickey, Maleficent and Pete appear at all in the game. And I believe that Sora and Riku are on the same world, just on different locations (Sora on Shibuya, Riku on Shinjuku), and Verum Rex's world is a parallel to the real life locations. The city can't be the one from TWEWY because the signs are on a fantasy language, while in TWEWY they used real life language. Either way, I'm more hyped for this game than KH3

Well KH3 has an even shorter story, with the last 6 hours being the only story segment in a 35 hour total game You think XV story is trash? Well KH3 story was utter garbage, kairi is still a typical damsel in distress despite her training, sora is the only strong character, the supporting cast and villians were absolutely useless and extremely weak. And sora took all the screen time making all the build up for support character irrelevent. And don't get me started on the pacing...

I believe it could happen. Other games/game series have gotten reboots. Same characters, same basic premise, but still with a lot of changes. It could work.

That would be great, and I think that, if Square Enix were smart, they would let Nomura do so once he's done with Final Fantasy 7r (and also promise never to put him in charge of so many projects at once ever again). Nomura would finally get to see his idea be completed and made, Square Enix can save money by reusing assets from XV, and fans would be happy as they'd finally get to play Versus XIII. I myself have never played a Final Fantasy game before, but I would like to see this happen. Versus XIII seemed really interesting, and I would like to see it happen.

But what if they press him to remake 9 or 10? Or maybe even 6?

It will be FF15, Ff15-2 and Ff15-Noctis Returns lol because it's basically Noctis returning at the end times like Lightning. The guy failed to deliver because the project is very ambitious. They have the worst game engine ever. Coupled with Nomura constantly changing everything during the development period of the game. Just move on and pray that Verum Rex will be real.

I liked XV to be honest

I liked XV but when playing just the story and not doing any of the side quests the main story it self feels like it was rushed at like point a to point b in only a couple of hours

I've never played a Final Fantasy game before, but I might've gotten versus xiii; it looked very interesting. By contrast, the more I hear about 15, the more I'm glad I never bought it. I would still like to see Versus XIII happen if possible.

That's an interesting question I can't recall any specific music from XV, at certain point you can play other FF music over the bgm during driving and then later on in battle. I completed FFXV but regret playing it.

I played XV and enjoyed it. Not the best but still enjoyable. Yoko Shimomura did a good job with the soundtrack. Sounded a lot like her work with Kingdom Hearts so there were a lot of tracks that weren’t very memorable (to me at least) but there were those few that stood out and sounded amazing. Most of what you heard in the Versus XIII trailers made it into the game in some way which I was glad about. I would hate to know they would just throw out such awesome pieces. Yoko composed the music for both Versus XIII and FFXV so at least that aspect maintained the same quality.

Kingdom-Judge there wasn’t a lot of soundtracks and there were only a few that stood out, but that small few were indescribably amazing - though it’s a shame that lots of the memorable tracks were played in terrible scenarios or were barely heard.

Aranea battle theme stood out. Of course I enjoyed FatM version of Stand By Me. In another video someone discusses the FF elements and influences you can hear in that song.

The music is fantastic, at least the pieces by Yoko Shimomura. There were definitely a lot of gems that survived from the VS13 trailers, like "Omnis Lacrima" or "Valse di Fantastica". I also recommend "Hellfire", "Somnus Ultima", "Noctis", "Song of the Stars", .... One of the most FF-like songs is probably "Ardyn's Theme", I like it a lot. It reminds me of FFVIII and IX.

I honestly believe this is going to be a tutorial world for KH4, maybe an extra KH cast members will be pulled from there in the future, but certainly not a separate game of its own. And that's for 2 reasons: 1. It's clearly a quick redesign of VsXIII, the characters are just a "chinese copies" of the models they were based on, at least IMO. Just look at the "meh" colors and how basic the clothes and hairstyles are for everyone besides Yozora. 2. I don't see Square throwing money on a different version of XV, especially seeing how Nomura has handled it. Not that he is wrong, just saying they'd probably not accept "fuck you, my version is still better!" type of move. At least that's my guess.

Let’s be completely clear: most of Nonura’s career has consisted of him screaming “Fuck you my version is better” at his younger selves. Tidus, Sion, Sora, Neku, Noctis, Yozora. Seifer, Beat, Snow. Reno, Axel.

It's a big deal especially since Final Fantasy depends on creative minds and amazing vision to create a good mainline game. It's even more of a big deal when each new installment after XII have been going downhill sans the MMORPGs. Nomura probably sees this trend and has had enough, hence why he makes such a big deal about Versus XIII and XV. Final Fantasy is a huge passion project to him and his teams and having SE constantly screw it up probably makes him really upset.
