Square mistreats their directors terribly. Nomura was too overworked to do 13v and they never should have announced it. Tabata was forced to take 5% of a game and reverse engineer something with arbitrary constraints based on a mere trailer. I wish we had 13v and an FF truly of Tabata's design. (FF0 without the shoehorned 13 tie-in ending would do…)

I'm not sure how likely this is, but I'd love to see the executives at Square Enix smarten up and, one day, after the Final Fantasy 7 remake is finished, decide to call Nomura in and tell him they want him to make versus xiii (and this time, they let him finish it): Executives: "Nomura; well done with Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy 7. We have an offer for you." Nomura: "What is it?" Executives: "We know that Final Fantasy Versus 13 was a bit of a passion project for you. Would you still like to make it?" Nomura: "You mean the game that you forced my team to make using a terrible engine and then rebranded before replacing me with Tabata? I hear he's enjoying going independent." Executives: "Let's stick to the present. Do you want to make it?" Nomura: "...Will I be allowed to put my full attention towards it? You promise you won't put me in charge of any other games while I'm still making it?" Executives: "We promise." Nomura: "...Sure. Let's give the fans the game they were actually waiting for." @@Brahmsonite They also heavily changed the Original Drakengard to cash in on Dynasty Warriors 2 as well, and had a studio who was unfamiliar with action games try and make it.

Nomura took 10+ years and barely even reached 20% completion. It was a huge money sink that if left on its own was not going to see any returns for the next 20 years and even then there was no guarantees it would profit. Like it or not Nomura fucked up by taking too many projects on.

Since 2006, the year Versus XIII was announced, Nomura still released a Kingdom Hearts 2 final mix, the remake of Chain of Memories for PS2, 358/2 Days, the remake for Coded, Birth By Sleep, a bunch of new content for the compilations, Union X, Dream Drop Distance, and starting development on Kingdom Hearts 3 (which probably started around 2012). Only in 2014, Square removed Nomura from directing versus XIII (now XV), despite they gave him Final Fantasy VII (though he doesn't have to worry about the story). Even though it looks unfair, they kinda had to. As much as they had to, they owe him big time with that concept, as it's also kind of their fault (or Disney's, depending on the deal in place whose details I'm 100% NOT aware of) versus XIII never saw the light of day. I think the idea of having versus XIII concepts into Kingdom Hearts is the least they could do.

In all the eraqus xehanort chesspiece cutscenes sora is meant to represent the piece of the white king.

So in the new secret reports Luxu mentions that there's a Worldline meaning a parallel universe to the Kingdom Hearts one. And the Toy Story gang are from a separate universe similar to this one. So what if the Toy Story gang is originally from a parallel universe where Yozura is the Sora/Riku of that universe (Sora is mistaken for Yozura by Rex and Nomura has said that Noctis was supposed to be Sora's opposite (Night Sky anyone) before getting taken off the project) and the world that connects the 2 universes together is TWEWY, hence why Sora appears to be in Shibuya.

@@PasCone103Z That's true. Especially Kingdom Hearts 3, because people wouldn't shut up about it, so Nomura announced it as early as he did just to shut us up. Hopefully we all learn from that mistake and not have our expectation up to the moon, because that's another thing I wanna bring up. Having expectations of a game we've been waiting for isn't a bad thing at all, because it shows we care, and we do have a right to be disappointed at certain aspects of it, I think Kingdom Hearts 3 in its vanilla form has the same issues as KH2 vanilla, but it's still a decent game, and at the end of the day, it IS supposed to be the end of the Xehanort arc, but there are certain plot threads that did leave a bit much to be desired, and there definitely could've been more character interactions. So hopefully this new saga won't be repeat, we learn patience and let Nomura work at his own pace and when he's ready, discuss what ideas can be implemented properly from his interviews and from the secret movie about what direction he's taking Kingdom Hearts next.

David Timmer I was pretty damn patient. It was actually square who pushed him for KH3 because of MONEY. He wasn't ready and it clearly shows. I would of easily waited a few more years. Most fans just wanted it done right, not done right away.

While some aspects definitely seem to be lacking somewhat though, Nomura still appears to have pulled off an incredible feat with KH3, and though I think it has lower replay value and less Easter eggs/side content than 1, it is still an incredibly good game. The core is very solid. My only major complaint is that the final gauntlet with the organization felt rushed and disjointed due to how they handled the branching scenes and kept pulling us out of the fights, mid-fight. I also felt like the difficulty curve was low even on proud(might try a lvl 1 run soon tbh) and I wish they had given the enemies some more complex attack patterns, better windups, and with tighter timings(and less cheap "difficulty" like crazy stat buffs/debuffs, insanity, and lots of attack that can hit you from off screen in group fights). Still, I wouldn't be surprised if this winds up being the best game of 2019 despite its flaws. Although I am really bummed they seemed to move away from the style of boss fights in 2.8. The bosses were designed so well in that game. Was bummed to see the enemies nerfed(especially the aqua fight). Still, KH3 got so much RIGHT. From populated cities, to dialogue about mowing the ...dog? to things like having a realistic road network in sanfran sokyo. Then there are things like doing cooking properly (though calling remmy "little chef" quickly got on my nerves tbh), to making the combat feel snappy, but not floaty, to little details like making an actually fun rythm game. And then there were the massive achievements of the programmers. The number of lights, reflections, and transparency effects is truly mind-boggling. And I don't think it's RTX given how new that technology is. That means that to achieve this they would have had to overhaul the entire rendering pipeline from frustum culling on cameras to encoding depth information into the gbuffers to the use baked data for shadows and transparencies relative to the camera's positional data. And a lot of the shaders look like they have at least been tweaked if not entirely overhauled to accommodate this in UE4. As a student aspiring to become a developer of games like KH, FF, and other RPGs, it is truly inspiring to see just what they have achieved in spite of the corporate BS the team was put through.

Verum Ex is obviously a separate game that will be featured on KH3 as a marketing stunt or introduction. They will feature a game before it will be officially released. Sora is a million dollar worth of a character - Nomura is not insane to replace him with Yozora. I think it will be a DLC and you will be playing together with Yozora. Square is aware that people want Versus 13 that's why they teased Verum Rex to gauge the people's reaction.

Feather Sigil I really like this theory! Specially because it deviates from the black and white concept of morality that KH has. There were already times in which we were shown that darkness does not equal evil, but just a different power that is needed to create life, because is ultimately human to be afraid, sad or angry (“a heart is not complete without suffering”). With that said, if life existed and prospered in the Real of Darkness, that means that the lives of the people who reside there are equally significant as those from the realm of light. Maybe, just maybe, the worlds from the Realm of Darkness is what we know as “the real world”, explaining why the aesthetic of said places resembles reality so closely; while the worlds of the Realm of Light is the fantasy that we’ve created, the safe place were only joy exists, surrounded by places of whimsical adventures and childish-like environments (aka. The Disney worlds).

it's a DLC... and a separate game in the near future. the Next KH will obviously be versus the Master of Masters and his followers. The Master of Masters might be a major / a secret boss fight in that world similar to the hooded figure and the Enigmatic Soldier - which will serve as a teaser for KH4's antagonist.

Did v13 ever have a story? I know we got some trailers and snippets, but I don’t know that I ever heard anything about the actual plot.

@@ironwolg from what ive gathered from leaks and misc articles and trailers and stuff, the plot of v13 is a lot more out there. iirc Insomnia housed the crystal of death which belonged to the goddess Etro, goddess of death and dreams (shes the sleeping woman in the FF15 logo), there were legends that said that she resided in the moon and guided the dead to the afterlife Noctis and Stella (v13 luna) both had near death experiences as children and had come into contact with Etro and gained supernatural powers, and because v13 was still tied into the ff13 mythos this meant they were l'cie doing the gods' dirty work. I also heard that Niflheim stole the crystal because they wanted the death frystal to put passed on souls in robotic bodies to make artificial soldiers and Ardyn was also a l'cie and his goal with taking the death crystal was unbalancing the world, bringing about the end and rebirth of the universe? And part of that was the moon getting bigger and the nihts getting longer and making demons descend from the moon and posses people (including noctis at one point?) and during his possession he killed Stella? and thats why ravus wanted to kill Noctis originally Also apparently noctis could go into other dimensions in his dreams and talk to the dead Its similar in like broad strokes to 15 like "city gets attacked, they go to altissia, leviathan attacks, etc" but its the details that separate v13s batshit nomura stuff from what we got in the end Sorry for the book long explanation loll

It's not neccesaily but the secret reports do mention there's a Worldline (parallel universe) to the KH one. Yozora is very obvious meant to be an opposite to Sora and the Toy Story is from an alternate universe to the KH one so maybe Verum Rex is meant to represent that alternate universe.

Honestly, the entire theme of FFXV was about the bond between 4 friends, so I can see this fitting perfectly

I don't see how a reboot of FF Versus XIII would just be a reboot of FF 15 (if that's what you were saying); they may have a lot of the same main characters, but 15 is very different from what Versus 13 was originally going to be (judging by the versus 13 trailers and gameplay footage).

I mean he should’ve used his resources better when developing versus 13. I’ve read in multiple places that working under him was chaotic and messy. From what I’ve gathered he just didn’t have a clear vision for it. It was poorly handled from the start. We saw some cool cinematic but it didn’t tell us much about the overall story. I still don’t know what the plot of versus 13 would be. I think 15 did a fantastic job delivering us amazing characters and a beautiful story. Poorly handled though it was by square, when you put all the pieces together, it really is incredible and deep. Tabata did a fantastic job putting the game out for us. I feel like this cinematic is trying to take a giant shit on 15. I may be totally wrong, but that’s the vibe I get from this.

Just a question. Where did people get this whole, "Nomura didn't know how to use his resources properly" argument? No really, anyone who had been following Versus XIII development knows that Nomura was forced to freeze his Versus XIII project because his team was relocated to help finish Final Fantasy XIII, and to start on the Kingdom Hearts III project. By the time he helped finish all FFXIII games PS3 was already near the end of it's lifespan, so they instead changed focus into converting Versus XIII to PS4 with a new engine, The Kingdom Hearts III concept was finally completed and he was relocated to it's production while Tabata picked up on vsXIII and worked on it under the name of XV. That's a the full story. It has nothing to do with Nomura delaying anything.

I don't think Tabata necessarily sucks since I enjoyed crisis core , the 3rd birthday and final fantasy tactics, but I will say nomura sucks at writing and can be good at directing but leaves a lot of things he's does an incoherent mess. Tabata got fucked with the garbage script leftover of final fantasy 15 and tried to asspull the thing through a garbage game engine recreate it and hit a deadline while sqaure enix and rushed it out of Developement .

It's probably comes down to square enix is a shitty company plagued by greed

I'm not 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure that Kingdom Hearts is officially a Disney property, that goes for the original Kingdom Hearts Characters like Sora, Riku and Kairi aswell. Square Enix is just the developer of the series. Granted,Disney has given Square Enix alot of freedom with these games, but it's still their property.

DiskusGames Kingdom Hearts it is a Disney IP that's a fact. And no, Disney never gave a huge amount of freedom... Sora keyblade doesn't look like a sword because Disney wanted a protagonist with a harmless weapon and there's a lot of limitations to use the Disney IP's. Just the fact that Sora is im the TWEWY world says a lot... I believe that Kingdom Hearts is going to a more mature theme.
