CoM motivated me to get better at math as a middle schooler and was my first KH game and the game that made Zentetsuken my original favorite move!

Chain Of Memories is still one of my favorite Kingdom Hearts titles, such great childhood memories were created playing it!

I started the KH series completely blind a year ago. I played KH1, then CoM, then KH2 within a 2 week span. CoM is my favorite story wise and KH2 gameplay wise. In my opinion, CoM never seemed to be giving me too much info too handle but rather it kept me asking questions, saw how characters developed, and got me very curious about the organization and how all this stuff works. Obviously there was a lot of stuff we weren’t being told but because I realized that, it made the story so much more interesting. I even just figured they were using ‘nobody’ as a type of insult (without knowing what nobodies are, it still kinda made since for awhile). It honestly felt like CoM was figured out before KH2 was so I was stunned to find out otherwise in this video. CoM introduces great mystery a lot, develops themes at a nice pace over time (especially for riku’s story), and the mysterious elements we were introduced to become a lot less mysterious by the end, and you can form a general idea of everybody’s intentions and roles throughout the game without knowing any of those specific details at all. I actually was disappointed with how KH2 turned out. Don’t get me wrong, I still love its story, but CoM allowed me to come up with my own imagination for the organization and many more shenanigans that could have played out. However, the best storyline within the organization was Larxene/Marluxia planning to be traitors and how that whole situation unraveled within the organization. 358/2 had some of those similar tensions, but KH2 sorta made the organization seem like one entity all together (except for Axel) rather than several entities within the organization with developing storylines as the game progressed. Anyways. I’m basically saying that I loved CoM the most due to how it introduced mystery/interest, presented a good visual imagination of unknown details, and allowed each of the characters to really express their personal intentions much more within the organization.

If you think about it now, KH3 Remind is kinda doing the same thing. Sora lost his powers again. So Nomura is doing this same thing again. He's taking Sora and stripping him of his powers all for the sake of leveling up in KH4. Not only that, Sora is trapped in the final world. Or is it Shibuya that he's trapped in? It might be both. Kairi is the key to finding Sora. Because other than Sora, she's the only one who has seen the final world. Mickey, Donald, and Goofey wouldn't be able to get there because they've never been to the final world. Even though it's a past world Sora had been to, they still wouldn't be able to get there because they weren't with Sora when he went to the final world. Kairi literally knows where Sora is, but she doesn't realize it yet. I just now realized that this theory might be true. Just because of how much sense it makes. This was completely unintentional. XD

I was in elementary school when I played chain of memories. I could NOT beat Riku #4 after destiny islands. Eventually I legit made it my mission, I figured it out and my friends would pay me to beat it for them. That shit was really tough as a kid... still to this day it makes my fingers actually tired hahaha

Being one of the kids who played the GBA version before 2 came out, I appreciate CoM so much all these years later. Though after playing the PS version I prefer the gameplay on PS then GBA by leagues.

I saw a concept art that is in 2D but you had command menu from KH but as cards like there was an attack card, magic and item card and I think also a summon card

Honestly, I can appreciate that Nomura was trying to be innovative and created the gameplay for CoM for a specific reason, but for me, and I think a lot of other people, the gameplay really messed with the experience of the game's storyline. I tried to replay CoM recently as I went through the games before playing KH3, and the game just made me angry. I really hope from now on Nomura sticks more to the gameplay we had in KH3. I think that had a nice variety and balance from previous games in one. Hopefully he'll stay away from the card-based gameplay.

Gba com was my first kingdom hearts game. I saw the boxart and thought it looked cool lol. I didnt get a ps2 until a year later and immediately got kh2 as my first ps2 game. Funnily I didn't get kh1 until after kh2,since I figured com explained the story enough

I never realized that pattern but Normura is clever... In KH: CoM, Sora lost his abilities/memories so in KH2 you played to get all of them back as well as new ones like drive forms. In KH: DDD, Sora lost his abilities again as a result of falling to darkness so in KH3 you had to level up to get them back and use the power of waking. SO if history tells us anything....then this pattern should continue. There should be another game which shows Sora losing his abilities (assuming that abusing the power of waking is not it) and when KH4 finally comes out we will be using Sora to get all his abilities back for the third time lol

This is the last KH entry I liked because that's the last time down the line in history that they included Cloud in the game
