The producers loved working with Dana Delany who voiced Andrea Beaumont in the film so much that they asked her to voice Lois Lane in Superman The Animated Series and she totally kills it there as well.

The fate of the Joker is left unrevealed in the movie, but The Batman & Robin Adventures Annual tie-in comic expanding on the movie's events provides an explanation: Andrea drags him into the sewer below and they fight for a while until she decides not to kill him, seeing that he is no longer her father's killer but rather a raging lunatic with no sense of right or wrong, following which an explosion from above separates them and knocks Joker into the water, where he is carried away by the current.

Little fun fact about that amazing intro, music for this movie: Some reason or another, the Waner Brothers company refuse to give the musicians proper credit since the intro was barely a minute long, this taking their names from the opening or closing credits, the conductor being the genius that he is had all the singers sing their names, backwards/in Pig Latin so every time someone hears that opening, they're actually being given credit by themselves by singing their names backwards very dramatically. Yeah, You gotta love quick thinkers that troll big companies.

@@blaze3309 you should react to Burton's Batman movies Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992), fair talk over here there's an argument to be made about whether those movies are better or worse than the Nolan Dark Knight trilogy but there's no argument that the two mentioned above gave direct inspiration to the seminal animated series of the 90's so if you're a fan of Batman by this point you should check the movies I mentioned, in fact you owe that to yourself.

The film is truly masterpiece forever unmatched in the world of Batman. The phenomenal Andrea Beaumont voiced excellently by the brilliant Dana Delany who in the near century that Batman has existed is undoubtedly the greatest love interest Batman has ever had in any medium, a brilliant, wholly new character created for the film. She was formidable, both as a lover and as an adversary. She is independent, beautiful and knows how to take care of herself. With enough tragedy in her own life, she and Bruce had a lot in common. Their first meeting is as morbid as it is fitting - she is talking to her dead mother at her gravesite, and Bruce is conversing with his dead parents - and the romance that blossoms out of that shared connection is no less believable for how quickly it ensues. Delany voices Andrea with a welcome assertiveness that makes the courtship that much more playful and witty, and the chemistry never feels forced. This is Batman’s “one hope for a normal life”, but it’s far more significant than something like the extremely toxic, frustratingly inconsistent and at times somewhat insufferable relationship with Catwoman or any other relationship, because Andrea comes into Bruce’s life at a time when his nocturnal future is not yet certain. Batman's love life has always been the least interesting thing about him and even in the comics the only realy interersting love interests are Catwoman and Talia al Ghūl and in all honesty he doesn't have a future with either of them. It’s that uncertainty that leads to Phantasm’s most powerful scene. The unexpected happiness Bruce has found with Andrea leads him once again to his parents’ grave. But this time, he’s there to beg them to release him from the vow he made years ago on that terrible night in Crime Alley, even though he himself has always held that power all along. Andrea’s response "Maybe they already have. Maybe they sent me." both underlines her understanding of the vow’s importance and affirms her love for him. It’s a poignant, beautifully written and performed scene, and is more emotionally impactful than any moment in other Batman films. It’s this that leads to Phantasm’s other signature moment: Bruce donning Batman’s cape and cowl for the very first time. There are so many little things that help make this instantly iconic - from Bruce holding out his hand for his cowl, to Shirley Walker’s thunderous score, to Alfred’s terrified reaction. But it's the scene’s tragic underpinnings that really stick with you. The first “I’m Batman” moment in a Batman movie is usually triumphant. In Phantasm, it’s not only wordless - it’s sad. And given more notes to play in these flashback sequences than ever before, Kevin Conroy proves just as proficient at voicing a lighter and more optimistic version of the pre-Caped Crusader Bruce as he is in embodying the intense brooding of a fully-fledged Batman. It's really no wonder that Dana Delany's voice performance in the film impressed filmmakers and they loved working with her so much which it led to them casting her as Lois Lane in Superman: The Animated Series.

Excuse the tone and the attitude but. Who gives a damn about Andrea? She is an uninteresting character that came out of nowhere. Every subplot related to her is also uninteresting imo. That's why this movie can never be the greatest batman film. I mean the fact that this movie is the only (notable) appearance of the character says it all. If she was a cool character she would have also been a recurring character in the batman mythos. But even Vicki vale is more relevant and more recognizable than her.

When Robert Pattinson said this was his favorite Batman movie and he used it as inspiration for his own Batman i lost my shit even tho it makes total sense that it's his favorite, it came out when he was a kid and it's generally one of the most accurate portrayls of Batman. And Kevin Conroy as batman is just fantastic everytime ofc, he is to many the definitive batman.

The entire Batman: The Animated Series is in this style. Also Batman & Mr. Freeze Sub Zero which takes place after BTAS, I believe. The 3 Part Superman The Animated Series episode "World's Finest" is in the similar Superman style but is made by the same creators and is the first time Animated Series Batman and Superman meet. Fun Fact: It was made into a standalone home video release and rebranded as The Batman/Superman Movie. Then there's Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker which is a movie that takes place far in the future after Batman The Animated Series. IMO it's Mark Hamill at his peak doing the Joker performance but I would suggest watching the 2 part Batman Beyond series pilot first in order to get yourself acquainted with the premise of Batman Beyond.

DCAU Batman is the greatest adaptation of the character because it's the most human. I hate the movies because they never show Batman's compassion or empathy. Those are the core elements of what makes Batman such a great hero. There's a line by Amanda Waller that perfectly describes Batman's character and it's "I've never met anyone who cared as deeply for his fellow man as Bruce Wayne". There will never be another Batman like Kevin Conroy.

The DC Animated Series by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini are one of the greatest pieces of DC content ever. In Batman The Animated Series and it's movies, many of characters were reimagined that became the true depictions of them. Joker, Mister Freeze and etc. are almost the same as they appear in Arkham games. And of cource, because of this series, Harley Quinn appeared. And I did told you back in Arkham Asylum playthrough video that Harley FIrst appeared in the Animated Series, then was reinforced into Batman canon in comics later on. And of cource this series brought us Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hammil as the Joker, which almost didn't happed by the way, as Tim Curry was the candidate for the role for the longest time, he even voiced couple of episodes before, for some reason (I dont remember which), he left and Mark got the role. So yeah, if you're interested in seeing the series by the same team and continuity, here's the list of series that they produced (In chronological order... I think) - Batman The Animated Series (85 episodes in 2 seasons) (It's one of those series that is made in anthology style, so some episodes and continuity from them are scrambled, but there are lists that re-arrange them in chronological order, but I'd leave other people to tell which style is better to watch) - Superman The Animated Series (54 Episodes in 3 seasons) - The New Batman Adventures (24 episodes in 1 season) - Justice League (52 episodes in 2 seasons) - Static Shock (52 episodes in 4 seaasons) (tbh, to me this is most 'Sunday Cartoon' in the entire series) - Justice League Unlimited (39 Episodes in 3 seasons) - Batman Beyond (52 pisodes in 3 seasons)

The only characters that were reimagined were mad Hatter and Mr Freeze. What are you talking about? And when it comes to Mr Freeze, it's debatable because paul dini was probably influenced by a silver age comic in which Mr Freeze froze a blonde woman in order to save her. Or sth like that. So the idea was always there. I don't remember the number of the issue or the title it belonged to but I can find it if you want.
