The reason Superman had trouble catching the missile was because he hadn't recovered from the effects of the Kryptonite.

The effects are not "cheesy". They are beautifully accomplished. They required actual work, not just punching a few buttons on a computer.

First time I saw this movie I was 17 and just came out in the theaters saw it 4 days in a row. I was just as excited as you were when I saw you posted your reaction on this movie. Great reaction. Hope your not as disappointed with part 3 and 4 as I was when I first seen them. But I will still watch your reaction to them and maybe you will see something in them that I didn't and bring a new life to them for me.

There are many things in this movie, (which by the way I still consider underrated to this day); that were not explained in terms of what level of genius and extent of it in movie making produced such scenes: The destruction of krypton where (I am almost sure), real humans were shown being tossed in space, the post missile strike, where Superman is shown flying in between the collapsing soil and boulders, the scene where the robber falls vertically and Superman flies right past him (I know, done with wires but meticulously done for that time); even the scene where he first flies off the ledge in one scene and turns midflight (yup, wires). but across that distance; even his flight off the launch pad when he flies off and then twists around waving to Lois; all and done so flawlessly.

Don’t listen to those that say not to watch Superman III. It’s a must see and underrated. You can skip 4 though, it’s terrible. On the same level if not worse than Batman & Robin. Once you’ve watched III - go straight to Superman Returns as this is a follow on from Superman II. Once you’re ready, you have Batman v Superman but you’d need to watch the Ultimate Edition as it plugs the odd gap on the theatrical release.

So 3 and 4 are considered stinkers by fans. I can't give an opinion because I never saw them. But Superman Returns ignores them (they're all in the same universe). Returns is one of the most average movies I've ever seen, so yeah I'm afraid you hit the Superman movie peak.

Just came across your channel, got to say it's a great reaction channel (love your natural enthusiasm). It's great that you appreciate the old Superman movies for their colourful images, optimism, and humour. Most of the new Superman movies are so gray, pessimistic and has the main characters as bland joyless types - instantly forgettable.

This movie was a huge hit back in 1978. We had never seen anything quite like it. The sequel to this is even better IMO. Christopher Reeve was the best Superman!!

Whenever you post a new video, it's always a event! Love this DC marathon! If you decide to continue the DCEU eventually, then I'd like to give some advice as someone who truly enjoys it a lot compared to some regular watchers here: Batman V. Superman has an extended cut called 'Ultimate Edition'. It has over 30 extra minutes and includes a lot of important plot points and emotional beats that were omitted in the theatrical cut and led to the movie's initial poor reception; If you still see some negativity or divergence of opinions and interpretations in the comment section and want a more positive analysis(Especially on things like Batman's Redemption Arc and Lex Luthor's portrayal), I'd recommend essays by amazing creators like CinemaWins, Hawk of Krypton, Twin Perfect, LadyJenevia, Our Movie News, Duckmilkprod, King Rex Comics, Deep Talks, iamthatroby, and Knights of the Nerd's Table. (I made a playlist called "Why the Snyderverse is Amazing" that includes those plus much more content if you want to watch, either as reactions or in your own time); You can follow up BvS in release order, except for one movie. After Wonder Woman, watch Zack Snyder's Justice League and not Justice League 2017. That version is universally seen as a bastardization of the original vision and a symbol of WB's abuse and mismanagement behind the scenes. Afterwards, you can end this marathon with the "Snyderverse" or continue until the end of the DCEU. Those movies are even more divisive but many are quite fun and worth a watch, like Aquaman, Shazam, Black Adam and Blue Beetle. It's up to you. Either way, don't mind any excess negativity and do whatever you want. Your videos and personality are amazing no matter the topic, and DC as a whole has so much content worth checking out!

Currently,, Superman's about guarding the entire World. He doesn't play favorites, politically-speaking.; in fact, his son's current catch-phrase is "Truth, Justice and a Better Tomorrow."* *in the comics, Clark and Lois have a son, Jon., who also goes by the moniker Superman (he's roughly 17)

51:47 that's another thing that Marvel fans don't understand and a lot of people don't get is there like how can he not get recognized and it's like well because there's only probably two or three people that are ever really close enough to see his face and no Clark so why would they even have a clue?..... even Henry Cavill went into Times Square with a Superman shirt on and just glasses and walked around and he went to Comic-Con And nobody recognized him very very very and he did that to kind of prove a point

46:17 what nobody realizes about this scene right here is that they essentially created a singularity or a black hole a small black hole to suck them in The Phantom Zone so when Superman is flying away with Lois think of how fast he's pushing himself and how fast he's trying to go he's out running the singularity which means he is going faster than the speed of light right now..... because black hole is so powerful that not even light can escape it

While a fun thought, it most likely is not the actual reason though. As for a period (like between 1980 to 2000-ish) pretty much every action, comedy or horror film got a punny or pointless subtitle like that. Or often even a completely new joke title. Both 1 and 2 have it as well, even if there were some original or international distribution added examples of it. "Superman - Soon you will have seen him fly!" Ok.. setting expectation for non comic book reading cinema attendees I guess.. ;D "Superman II - The adventure continues." Ok.. good to know. I kind of assumed from the roman 2 though. But not everyone know those from clocks and things of course.. :0 "Superman III - Stålmannen går på en krypto-nit" ("krypto" being a common computer purpose and "nit" can mean to hit a snag. Not sur eif that first part was the full intent, but seeing as a computer plays a pretty significant part in this one it wouldn't surprise me) While this one is indeed more of a pun, it's probably not all that depending on quality of the material it is labelling. If it was released today had this trend continued, it would probably be kryptonite misspelled with AI in there somehow. Because that also never stopped the puns. "Superman IV - already had an original subtitle: "The quest for peace" But maybe the trend was fading in Sweden at this point. Or it was so bad no one could be arsed to bother. Should probably have helped with the roman number on this one instead. So many still think IV means the first one for some reason.

There are two cuts to Superman 2. The theatrical cut and the original Director’s cut/ Donner Cut. Richard Donner was fired by Warner executives, the Sulkins, while he was in the middle of filming the movie. Richard Lester finished the movie and did reshoots. He got directors credit for this cut. The Donner cut is the better cut.

Didn’t really like the whole give up your powers to be mortal thing like who’s going to do anything to him if he doesn’t. It was just a plot device because it really doesn’t make sense.

It, and what happens directly after, does make sense if he can't fully control every bodily function. 😏 But I still agree. Would probably have been better if he was just considering it before hearing about the home planet gang. That would be enough setup for the dedeus machine exposition.

Yes, IV is just cheese with TV quality on top of it. But at least III is not even close to as camp, while still fun. And I still despite this near full comedy route remember it as also being sort of terrifying. What that supercomputer thing did scared me about as much as Twin Peaks and V combined.

Uhh yeah about those other movies. Movie 3 and 4 are trash. Especially 4, and 3 is the beginning of the quality drop. There's also a Supergirl movie in the same universe, but I wouldn't worry about anymore Superman movies. You've seen the best and the rest really aren't worth it. There IS however some good animated Superman movies. Such as All Star Superman and Superman vs the Elite. Those are good dives into the character and why he's such a timeless character that people can always look up to and love. I'd recommend checking those movies out for sure.

This was actually the first comic book film I ever watched as a little kid and it really kicked started my interest for comic books and got me into Superman as a character which led me to learn more about what makes the character so special. If you want to check out more great Superman solo movies/shows I would highly recommend: - Superman Vs The Elite (2012) - Superman: The Movie (1978) - All Star Superman (2011) - Superman & Batman Public Enemies (2009) - Superman: Man of Tomorrow (2020) - Superman The Animated Series (1994) - My Adventures With Superman (Season 1 & Season 2)
