Those who hold their breath have become the targets that allow society to continue.
Holding one's breath in the song means to keep quiet, and accept your position as a scapegoat. Fighting against this system would only rock the boat and bring even more shame.
The phrase "Non-Breath Oblige" is a play on the French phrase "Noblesse Oblge", which refers to the responsibility of privileged people to act with generosity and nobility toward those less privileged. In this song, it is used ironically, as the responsibility of the oppressed is to keep quiet and bear their appointed fate.

When I saw that someone was gonna do an English cover of this song, my first reaction was "man, that's bold". It always feels like there's a few types of songs that english cover artists won't touch, either because they're really hard to translate, or really hard to sing. I"m pretty picky with my english covers. I didn't have too much hope going in that I would like this, but whaddaya know, Trickle never quite manages to disappoint. This Is a great cover, dude. Keep going, you're my personal favorite english cover artist at this point :D

After a couple tries I managed to gulp in enough air and ration it but that holding in my breath part just doesn't give the time fit the primitive breath.

I love how the “holding in my breath” but at the end slowly seems to transition into “let me get my breath” which although I don’t think it was done purposefully, adds a really sweet ending to the song! It’s like the character is finally getting the courage to “breathe” in!

I'm Japanese, so it may be difficult to convey the words. It's very wonderful. It has a perfect voice for the boy in the MV. When I heard the cover this song by many people, I thought your voice was the best. The heartbreaking feelings of the boy in the MV seemed to be strongly conveyed.

When you suffer from depression, childhood trauma, food disorder,anxiety, ( probably ptsd and bpd ) and have suicidal thoughts and self harm/ or used to self harm and this song describes so well everything you go through and makes you feel less lonely and a bit better ❤ Tbh thanks for existing You're making my ( and surely many others) life a little but Eassier to live

To be honest the message in the song is so broad that I'm not surprised you found something meaningful to connect with in it, it truly is amazing how much they managed to fit in just 3 minutes of music. It's about inequality, it's about unfairness, it's about not being able to speak your mind, it's about fearing what you do and say 24/7, it's about feelings of inner conflict, it's about using political high ground to try and win every battle, it's about how people are losing control of their emotions in this new World, it's about being robbed of emotion and creativity. To properly explain everything this video tackles would take way too much time, perhaps the reason for "I can't breathe" is because of how much there is going on in the background all the time, when you really think about it there are almost endless unspoken rules on how to get by in society, to perfectly fit in while accommodating to yourself as well as other people is a nigh impossible feat, the only thing you can do in the end is give up. (Optional read about personal experiences, skip it if you don't care.) When I was in high school I used to wear a mask and behaved largely like someone I was not, somebody like that was surely just a machine with no emotions but inside I was just dying every day because I knew I wasn't happy, I knew I was depressed and nobody would support me, deep down I knew my friends weren't my friends. When I lost them is when things changed, I was relieved to lose them which surprised me at the time but not anymore, now I am nobody else but myself and now I've made acquaintances who respect me and praise me when I do good, it's a stretch to call them friends but they care more about me than most of my past friends did. My life changed for the better when I finally gave up, I can tell living was difficult for me when I was younger simply by the fact that it came as a shock to my system when I got any positive feedback from another person, I'm glad I turned my life around.

Man this song hits home for me, I’m often paranoid when I’m talking to someone that they’ll misinterpret what I say (since despite common definitions for words everyone has their own different takes on them which can cause…issues) and use it against me, not giving me a chance to try and correct them. It happens often-ish in my family when I try and explain things. And online. Because of that, and other reasons, I just tend to keep my mouth shut on quite a few things. To me….it just isn’t worth it. They’ll stay high and mighty either way, refusing to admit they may have been wrong, whether it be about something they said or how they interpreted what I said, and in the end I’ll end up worse off. So I stay quite. I’ve gotten used to it but it’s really annoying sometimes. This song just really reflects how I feel often times both when I speak and why/when I stay quite. It just seems, to me anyways, that more and more people aren’t thinking for themselves, not really. They may think they are but it seems, again to me, that there are more and more people just repeating what they’ve seen/heard on social media and making their whole opinion based on that and not actually thinking it through logically, or at the very least reasonably, and even then they go ballistic the moment you try and bring up a flaw in their thinking, or just an opposing viewpoint/opinion, even if it’s done peacefully and respectfully. People seem to be slowly, yet also quickly somehow, becoming sheep. I’m not trying to make it seem as if I’m the epitome of perfection. I know I have my flaws and can be wrong, I just hate it when people attack me for something they think/thought I said. English is a fickle thing often subject to personal interpretations which while it may have the same general meaning, each person will take it differently even if the difference is small. There are other reasons but I feel like this comment is long enough as it is, turning more into a ramble. Tends to be a side-effect of me trying to make my intentions clear, and not twisted against me. Also it’s just such a banger, it gets stuck in my head so easily.

Once again, I am extremely ridiculously impressed!! Just how fast you can sing is insane. The song is a departure from the last several covers, but even this atmosphere you've nailed perfectly! This was once again, really really good, I’m like a broken record at this point but I always get so darn excited when a new cover of yours comes out! I love trying to learn them too, but I doubt my asthma would let me sing this to a level I’d like. I of course have to commend your work, it was incredible! The tone of this song had this frantic ness and desperation that your voice carried so well, but it wasn’t harsh. It was a gentle desperation which fits this song perfectly. At the end in the final refrain it really started to swell and reach a peak, but please be careful not to strain your voice too much and be healthy! What I heard could very well be intentional, it would fit in that area of the song, but just make sure to take care of your voice if you were struggling a little! I hope I don’t offend you by saying that, it’s something rather subtle! Onto a completely different topic, I admire just how FAST you can sing! When just listening I thought “yea I could go that fast!” Then I tried and realized, no, no I CAN’T. I didn’t realize just how fast it was so I’m so impressed by your ability to keep up with the song seemingly effortlessly! I apologize for the long comment, and thank you again and again for another amazing cover!!!

I'm a year late to this cover, and I feel like I've been missing the hell out of such an amazing cover. This is...everything, in it's entirety. The lyrics are amazing, it's so heartbreaking to me and the constant repeats of "i'm suffocating" + "Holding my breath" really got me good and I feel like this is the best english cover I have heard in a really long time. This entire cover was just so good, I've been keeping this on loop for the past 3 days and I just can't get enough of it.

i never knew the meaning of this song until i listened and looked up the lyrics in english, but whenever i sang it i always had a heavy feeling in my heart, and even being u able to understand it, i could somehow still relate. You really brought this song to life in another way

This song perfectly describes the society japanese people live in. It too my greatgrandmother to over come this "the nail that sticks up will be hammered down" mindset when she moved to the states. And even now the echos of her compressive upbringing show up within my family. Don't burden your family with your feelings, or with the fact your gay, or trans, or LGBTQ+. Keep it deep down because other's will have it worse if you don't. Do what is best for who's around you rather then for yourself. It's a suffocating mindset. You don't want to hurt people but you can feel your lungs collapsing from holding your breath trying to keep these years of pent up feelings.

Wow! First of all- Happy birthday Trickle, I hope you have a wonderful day! Second of all- this cover is INCREDIBLE! Might have a new favorite cover of yours to add to my music. This is such a difficult and complex complex complex song to do right, and you more than did it justice! This sounds so inhumanely close to the original that it’s insane. The lyrical flow is genius and the sound of your voice blending with the fast paced song is amazing. This cover takes my breath away (pun intended)

Happy Birthday Trickle!!!! Holy moly this is so good!! Your covers are so so insanely amazing!! I have no idea how you managed to sing this song so smoothly despite it being so fast-paced. You nailed the lyrics too, this song is so powerful and your translation did such a nice job of keeping the deeper meaning while making it catchy and very much danceable. Pinocchio-P makes really meaningful and complex songs, and the fact that you’re able to capture that essence so well, even while still keeping your own energy in it, is so so cool. In the original song with Miku, Pinocchio-P tuned the song so that she only breathed at the beginning and the end to add to the song’s meaning. If I’m not mistaken, I don’t think I heard you breathe ONCE during the whole song like the original. The attention to detail is crazy, your effort really paid off. Happy birthday and keep it up, we adore you!!!
