What a lovely tank. You made it look so easy. Your plants look very healthy. I've been trying to convert to a planted tank (my first tank), but with mixed success. The Anubias is doing very well, but the water wisteria and Java moss are struggling. Planted in fluval planting substrate. I feed the plants liquid fertilizer and and have a CO2 feeder in my Fluval Flex 15 gallon.

Moss can be tricky sometimes my java moss was exploding with growth at first and now it's just kinda meh. The fluval flex is a great starter tank though! Thank you do much for the love and support! Stay safe!

This is actually my first tank with all green plants. All of my other tanks have some red orange and browns in it. I like the look of an all green planted tank. Reminds me of Mr. Amanos work. Thank you so much for the kind words! ✌🙂

Great job sir, I'm going to be setting up my first planted tank and my question is about the lid/hood for the top. Other than considering that specific fish may be jumpers, is there anything else that I need to know about the lid/hood, having one or not?

It's really just evaporation and jumpers. Those are the only two cons really. Clearviewlids.com can make you a beautiful lid that you can't really even see. ✌🙂🙏😊

I had aquasoil in my 29 gallon for a year and a half and it never "eroded". That simply just doesn't happen. It is a baked clay that is actually pretty durable it doesn't just fall apart over time. If some rolls out onto the grave you just syphon it out. ✌

I got it from PetSmart I can't find it on their website but Its the Top Fin brand labeled as Premium Aquarium Substrate. I hope that helps.✌🙂

Yep straight away. But the soil does leach some ammonia so you’ll still have to do your water changes the first few weeks

@@richardportelli1983 I actually wanted the plants in this tank to be all green. It's my first time using these hygros too so it's new to me. All of my other tanks have plants with pops of red and that kinda gets old after a while. So that is why this tank is the way it is. Just a bunch of easy stuff. Thanks for the feedback though! ✌🙂

I am thinking about setting up a couple of smaller aquariums to replace my large one, trying to decide what substrate to use and considering the Caribsea Eco-Complete. Is it suitable for corydoras? Wanting to make sure it is going to be right for my plants and my fish! Thanks a bunch!

I highly suggest using an aquasoil instead. I've used eco complete a lot in the past and the growth in plants just simply does not compare. Fluval stratum and uns controsoil are my favorites because they dont release ammonia like some other brands. But if you are stern on your choice. Eco complete is okay for cory cats. ✌🙂

I do use bio media in my filters I like to use seachem matrix. I was using the aquaclear 20 which is awesome but I just switched to a sunsun 602b to minimize distractions! ✌🙂

Where do you source hardscape materials from? The most frustrating thing I've noticed since starting my first planted tank is that my LFS dont have much in the way of good hardscape materials..

Gary Barnett I like BucePlant.com and aquaforestaquarium.com I believe aquariumcoop.com also sells hardscape but I could be wrong on the one. You can also collect hardscape material from local creeks too just be sure to sterilize the wood in the oven and clean the rocks as best as you can. I hope this helps you out man! ✌️🙂
