As a retired animator, the decision to focus on the main characters eyes was not only risky, but a master stroke of animation genius. He goes from terror, to curiosity, to a relaxed submission as he succumbs to the demons promise of knowledge. Absolutely brilliant and I’m utterly gobsmacked and well as extremely jealous. Such talent.

Lilith is not Diablo. Lilith is more like his niece, quite literally. Diablo is one of the 7 lords of hell, one of the 3 great evils. Lilith is the daughter of the eldest, Mephisto - The Lord of Hatred. Lilith is weaker than the "evils", but she's very cunning, and she's actually truly the mother of humanity. She made a truce with some Angels, who were tired of the "Eternal Conflict" between Heaven and Hell(where everyone pretty much just dies, and then is respawned after a period of time). And together they used the World Stone, to create Sanctuary(meant to be a Sanctuary for those that wanted to leave the eternal conflict, and eventually became the home world of humanity). The original children produced by the mix of Angels and demons were not typical humans tho. They were Nephalem, and way more talented than either of their parents, capable of godlike feats(which makes sense, as the original god of the Diablo-verse, is actually the mix of the roots of all demons and angels. The many headed dragon Tathamet, and the warrior Anu(same name as the original god, but without his darkness, which he split from himself creating Tathamet). The two fought, killing each other, their lesser versions(angels and demons) spawned from the bodies, as did basically the realms of heaven and hell. Each Archangel, or Evil is born from large portion of the bodies. Diablo for instance, is one of the heads of the Dragon Hydra Tethamet, as are all the other evils. Lilith saw the potential of their offspring, and wanted to control them(through use of the world stone), use them to win the eternal conflict on her terms. But her equal(in power) partner Inarius, the angel who helped her create Sanctuary, feared their power, and wanted to use the world stone to seal their powers away. Long story short, Inarius succeeded(and also sealed Lilith away). And the sealing of the the Nephalems powers, slowly manifested over generations, turning them mortal and creating humans. And those too powerful to lose their powers or die, were eventaully set upon by generally misguided and fearful humans, and eventually killed(with some of the Nephalem betraying the others). So this is someone, presumedly a human cultist, summoning the sealed away Lilith back into the world(this is not the first time she's broken free, she was resealed by a Nephalem that reawakened due to the temporary waning of the World Stone's power(whom she had been manipulating)). Lilith, like her father is a masterful strategist, and more willing to think outside the box. But she's also often arrogant. Going by lore, she seems to be a mix of hatred and lust in nature(low class demons usually just spawn around the Evils, according to Deckard cain. But the powerful ones always seem to have 2 parents, so I am guessing she's the product Mephisto and some subordinate to the Lord of Sin - Azmodan, one of the lesser evils). Which sort of makes sense in a way, not only according to the general lore about her presence causing feelings of rage and lust in her surroundings. But also because both Azmodan and Mephisto are seen as the 2 greatest military strategists of hell. And Lilith basically changed the entire game with what she did. The lesser evils, do not truly seem that much weaker than the greater evils in truth. Which makes sense, as they're also heads of Tethament. But they do seem to be a weaker coaltion still, even with 4v3.

In the Diablo franchise there are three prime evils: Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal. Lillith is the daughter of Mephisto and she is responsible for creation of all the nephalem (which are half-angels/half-demons) All players control nephalem characters when playing the game

At first i was a little confused about why the priest guy spoke the words but thinking about it i think when he looked at his wounds just before he spoke them I guess it was insinuating that he figured since he was going to die anyway he might as well die finding out the knowledge he originally came for. Rather than...in the dark about it.

One of my favorite things in this cinematic(which there are a lot) is that the demon guy just talks to the priest and in a way hypnotizes him to complete the summoning. Just how calm and creepy he is

Nice reaction, keep it up :) - in case you were wondering, in the Diablo games there are the Three Prime Evils: Mephisto, Lord of Hatred; Diablo, Lord of Terror; and Baal, Lord of Destruction who are also brothers. Lilith is the daughter of Mephisto (Daughter of Hatred) and used to be in a forbidden relationship with an Angel (Inarius) which resulted in a half Angel/half demon race (Nephalem). The bald dude with the black eyes is her son Rathma. Hope that helps a bit with understanding what is going on there.

The dark wizards name is Rathma, Lilith is his mother and creator of santuary...or "the world" of mortals....Lillith a demon mated with Inarius an angel. together they bred half breeds, or nephalem. Doing this was an atrocity from both sides. Lilith was banished to the void, and inarius was given over to the demons by the angels to be torn apart for eternity. What curious about this, rathma , their first born. hated his mother. really....every1 did. not only are the demons trying to destroy her creation or "the world" but the angels wanted to kill everyone and destroy it as well. demons thrive on chaos, angels strike for order. but both of them use the world as puppets to play their own game in the eternal conflict. check out "Wrath animated" for more cool diablo lore :D

Her form was twisted, and she is now Depicted as a demon. In reality though, she's really just the world's first equal rights activist.

in diablo lore there are beings who embody a certain aspect of creation, the angels represent the 'good' aspects like for example Auriel is the archangel of hope and one of the members of the Angiris council, the leaders of the heavens, she literally gives hope to all of creation without her there would be no hope in the world, similarly there are the demons that embody the 'bad' aspects of creation for example Mephisto is the aspect of hatred, he is also known as one of the 'prime evils' due to being locked in an eternal war with each other as time passed some angels and demons got fed up of the constant unending war that had no winner and just a meaningless back and forth sometimes the demons would win battles against the angels, sometimes the angels would defeat the demons and because they are immortal and would be 'reborn' in their respective planes of existence, some of the angels and demons got fed up with it all and decided to steal a powerful artifact called the 'world stone', they used its power to create the world known as 'sanctuary' (essentially think of this as planet earth and heaven/hell are real places outside the plane of existence for mortals usually), the main figures behind the theft and creation of this world were inarius, a high ranking angel and lilith daughter of mephisto the first of and queen of the succubi, hence why in the trailer she is referred to as 'daughter of hatred' literally the daughter of mephisto, it was due to her and inarius falling in love that birthed a race of beings called 'nephalem' half demon half angel more powerful than both, these were the precursors to what we would call 'humanity' in this universe, hence why lilith is also called 'creator of sanctuary' in the trailer due to basically being the 'mother' to all humanity millennia ago.

I loved your videos, however, my only critique is that this one the audio seemed off. Your sound was super silent, almost had to double my volume just to hear what you were saying, while the cinematic volume was quite loud from the start. Your earlier videos on the World of Warcraft franchise are great, and yes you can find fan edited movies with all the cinematics from the game together in movie format, the Horde and Alliance versions would run maybe 3-4hrs together(1.5 to 2hrs each). Diablo is a PC franchise that goes all the way back to the late 90s- early 00s. It later made its way onto various consoles starting with the original playstation, if I am remembering correctly. It only recently made it way into consoles as a main platform, however, the console and PC versions are operated by slightly different rule sets and interfaces, so players cant play together cross platform.

Lilith is completely different from diablo and not a prime evil like he was from what I understand. She seduced an angel and birthed humanity and created sanctuary which is the world humans live on. So the who deal with him calling her "blessed mother" is spot on. You learn a lot of her lore at the end of diablo 3. Itll be interesting to see what the do with her. How will they scale her up to diablo and maltheal. Because diablo especially had all the evils fused into him

To be honset with you, soon as they were inside the temple he didn't need to be nice. That dude wasn't manipulating. He told the priest to say the words for knowledge. The demon could have just sacrificed him like the last two. The ritual was already complete. The priest wasn't violently slammed against the pillar, but softly added as the final piece.

I think everyone even Diablo fans was a bit surpriced by this trailer. I mean the previous Diablo 3 launch trailers was like 11 years ago, was pixelated tiny 800x600 (or something like that). Graphics has come a long way. Also then there is the blood/gore. Kinda also says how much Blizzard hasnt done anything with this hugely beloved franchise at all.

Everyone wants the guy to not speak the words, but I think he did the right thing... for himself at least. I mean he would have died anyways, but because willingly spoke the words he was granted knowledge and was spared from pain I believe.

Late to the party, so Sanctuary is basically the equivalent to "Earth" in the game. Lilith is a demon that ran away with an angel to create this world because they were tired of the war between angels and demons. Humans are their "children" and she wanted to enslave humanity to overthrow heaven and hell to end the war. Her lover banished her to the void between worlds because he had to stop her, but because of his feelings he couldn't bring himself to kill her. So she's been in purgatory for a few thousand years and now she's back and pissed off.

Blizzard is behind Overwatch as well, if you want to go back to those. I always read it as he likes the priest, so he takes him more gently and gives him knowledge, unlike the other two who its like "well you already signed the contract with your blood so SOL" and no gold. I guess I figure he probably doesn't actually need him to say the the words, so much as he NEEDS his blood since that's the key. I could be wrong.

She wasn't summoned to wreak havoc. The world's already gone to shit. The last words in the video were "Blessed Mother, save us." and that's what she's there for. People below say how Lilith was hated. But she is literally the mother of humanity and the creator of the planet they walk on. It's just that, since she still was a demon and true to her nature, she didn't want to live there in peace. She wanted to get rid of all the other demons (including the ones that had joined her) and use her children, humanity, to conquer Heaven, Hell, and everything else. Her angel boyfriend (and father of humanity) Inarius wasn't up to it and was afraid of his children. So he had her imprisoned in the Abyss and used the World Stone (the thing that gave the couple the power to do all this in the first place) to rob us humans of our power. Well, now the World Stone is broken and Lilith has returned to save us from ourselves and from everyone else.

In the Diablo series and in actual Judeo-Christian lore, Lilith is not synonymous with the name diablo.

Angel's and demons have been at war forever and Lilith and an angel (cant remember his name) were tired of the war so they made Sanctuary our home. The eventually did the nasty giving birth to us the nephleum, both angel and demon but stronger than both. He has second thoughts and gets chained and tortured while she gets banished. In the last game we defeated all the Evils so now all the monsters are running without anything commanding them, bald boy wants her to take control so that there's some order in the world.
