@Dr Boom in the lore, Rathma has a similar outlook to his mother but he also mistrusts her since she always tried to use her children to wage war on both Heaven and Hell. Though it would still make sense lorewise that he would do this if Sanctuary has been besieged by destructive forces.

Not exactly: The war is called just Grate Conflict, its called Sin War when this war spills into a world of mortals. Lillith and Inarius stole the Worldstone from the High Heavens, that is why Inarius was given to Mephisto as a punishment for going against the High Heavens. Using the Worldstone they create the Sanctuary and used it, the Worldstone, to hide the world from both sides. Lillith and Inarius were not the only ones that created Nephlem, as Nephlem is born from the union of Demon and Angel, and Lillith and Inarius were not the only couples like that just only one mentioned by names... I think. I don't think that is Tristram in the trailer. There is mining equipment on the floor so it would seem that they dug the hole by hand, the layout of the Church is too small and the Diablo 4 from the map we are given takes place in other continent than where Tristram is. The underground thing that they are is a Triune temple. Triune was a religious organization that secretly worshiped the Prime evils and attempted to corrupt humanity, in order to turn Sanctuary into a permanent outpost of Hell. The reason why in Diablo 3 player characters are called Nephlem is that Inarius used the Worldstone to weaken Nephlems, after banishing Lillith into the Abyss, creating humans as side effects, so humans essentially are Nephlems and would be Nephlems without the influence of the Worldstone. In Diablo 2: Lord of destruction, Baal: The Lord of Destruction, corrupts The Worldstone, forcing Tyrial, Archangel of Justice, to destroy it. So the power that limited, weakened Nephlems, making them human, was destroyed. Allowing some of the people to regain the abilities and strength of the ancient Nephlem.

@@Oxmosh Many claim that Mephisto is the most intelligent and cunning of the Prime Evils. There are some who believe that if there is truly a leader among the Burning Hells, it is Mephisto. Although, Diablo is the most powerful. Also said to be the most creative and farsighted of the three.

That's one theory. Lilith is a charcter from the older texts (Thora and Bible have been altered A LOT over the millenia), so we don't have a definitive answer to who she is. This however is the Lilith from the Diablo-lore. Diablo is basically a rip-off of older Judaism with a little bit of Christianity sprinkled in. That way Blizzard can rewrite the story ... and possibly avoid a bit of the cultural appropriation-outrage.

After watching it a few times, I love it. You can get the sense that the two robbers were just there for gold, and the dude helping with the summoning drew them down there for other purposes so they were "willing" in a sense, but the cleric knew it was forbidden and was not. But you realize that he came down there looking for SOMETHING, and the knowledge that of summoning a prime evil like Lilith just drew him in and he couldn't resit. Unreal cinematic.

@@Orapac4142 You're very right. A lot of things are poorly worded in my comment. Still we'll be killing demons all day long in this game with Lilith supposedly as the end boss. So if the demons in this clip aren't renegade demons, who's minions are they? I'd somehow find it a lot more logical if they had to fight off nephalem to get to the summoning gate... I don't know it doesn't completely make sense to me, but maybe i'm just looking to much into it now.
