The supervisor of all live action series is Oda, that is, if Oda trusts, I trust him.

Oda-Sensei had A LOT of say in the production, he hand picked the cast, says the "Luffy Help" scene is perfect, and the Showrunner is truly a one piece superfan, as well as most of the main cast. At the very least, this will set the precedent for all future LA adaptations.

Regardless of criticism first time I have seen the trailer I both laughed and cried during it. So I think it is a win.

It’s hard to tell how the general public is going to receive this. The thing about the OP community is that everyone in it is going to be trying to convince others to watch it, but there are a lot of people that aren’t open-minded to these types of things. If I wasn’t part of the community and I had only seen what I saw from the teaser trailer, I would have likely given up before the end of the first episode. But hopefully even getting a glimpse of this would get more people to read the manga or watch the anime. The full trailer has interest, suspense, and character so that alone should at least bring more people into the community. Traversing the internet, I’ve seen a bunch of intrigue from people that didn’t know what One Piece was and part of it is because of this community. OP has the best community of any fandom ever and I truly think it can carry a lot of weight in how the general perception is received. There is really nothing like the support in this community.

I really don't get why people are so dissatisfied with Arlong. Idk what people expected, he looks more or less like the character and is probably as close as they could possibly get to an accurate portrayal.

I understand why she says "its a little goofy". Well, it is goofy! Look at all the super clean and neated clothes, absolutely clean ships and bright clean scenarios... It's unatural. But yes, and the acting work is also like that childrren plays trying to imitate their heroes and not the reality. And this give us a diferent vibe of this kind of show, almost like a mexican soup opera. like RBD or even that old series like Hercules and Sheena. Its this kind of "taste", and how to get fun in this pointview. To me its an upgrade of this kind of production. So, if you are waiting to see Caribbean Pirates with all shaggy clothes and realism, you will get flustered.

Idk about everyone else, but I think Foxy should definitely look like a horrid attempt at live action. Like he should have the dumbest looking cosplayesque design. Like uncanny valley all the way, I think it would fit Foxy’s character perfectly. 😂🤣

I think they're not going for intimidation on Arlong. Seeing how difficult it is to CG Arlong. I think they're going for fear. Looks like they're going to make him as strong as in animé but not as big. Which make him scary for some reason. Its just me opinion. They already have enough CG from background and other things.

When Roger is executed he is actually deathly ill so I think they went more for his current health during the execution scene but I think they did a fabulous job. And with Arlong sure he is nowhere near as massive as he is in the manga or the anime but I think compared to how everyone else looks he looks fine for a live action and at least this way he can fit through doors. I think the only casting choice they made that I'm confused about is shanks I mean I'm not all the way through it but I'm past the water 7 and the prison ark and Shanks I thought was one of the better looking captains I mean sure he's got a big scar on his face but for some reason I figured they'd get a better looking dude to play him. Just my opinion but maybe this dude's acting is on point. That mihawk is crazy good other than the close up on the sword looks a bit cheap for some reason. That news coo gives me very high hope for chopper if the first season does well. And buggy looks fantastic. I wonder if that thing that looks like Zorro is down in a well is Zorro after his battle with mihawk like maybe he's unconscious for a little while and he's thinking about how much of a difference there is between his power and someone like Mihawk and he's like I feel like I'm down in a well that I got to climb out of to get to that point. Like more of a metaphorical type thing. That's my guess. I cannot wait! After being fully amazed by the Alita battle Angel movie that Cameron let Rodriguez make I have high hopes for this series. I mean the showrunner is working very closely with Oda so any changes are given his Blessing. ^_^ haters are just going to have to hate Oda I guess and that's sacrilege.

Idk, Iam really trying not to hate but I feel like this series will have a mixed review rating. Arlong, shanks, G.Roger and Sanjis[eyebrows] Ussops[nose] doesnt really making me feel the vibes. Big props to Luffy, Zorro and Mihawk they nailed those for sure.

What they didtn to ussop nose, they did it to Arlongs. HATE THE VOICE, looks fake and over reacting. My only conclusion is that they spend all the money before they start with Arlongs character, because it was more tha obvius that the character it self was going to need all the CGI effects.

I'm a super fan but I have a similar opinion to hers. I was glad when she mentioned Nami's hair looking horrible, it's driving me insane that they're choosing to dye Nami and Shanks' hair when they could have just, you know, cast freaking redheads! These are the kinds of details that make me say this show is going to be okay but that's it. I don't know how non-fans will react more generally but I'm skeptical.

In my opinion Arlong is trash, Mihawk doesn't look as intimidating and stoic as he should be, Zoro casting wise looks fantastic but I don't think he has the same grumpy but at the same time friendly attitude as he should, Luffy doesn't have the same child like excitement and looks like he is blinded by the sun or confused all the time. Visually it is nice sure but the it's gonna be bad
