I honestly think this is what most Swifties want, just an honest reaction to her music, giving it a chance, taking what you like and leaving the rest. Also for people to have actual criticism and not generalized "her music is just bad" is great. Music will always be subjective and we know that. Not everyone needs to be obsessed and know and love every song. This was a great video!

She put "marjorie" in the Eras Tour set list and it was confusing at first, but I think it's because the instrumental includes archived audio of Marjorie. This way, she can take her grandmother on tour around the world with her.

Yes! All her grandmothers backlogged dreams and how she left them all to Taylor. Everything of her grandmother would be taken away from her but the desire to one day make it was left for Taylor to receive. It makes me think of the reading of a will and these were here hopes for Taylor so she left her dreams with her. Taylor now brings her grandmother on her world tour. They’ve made it.

I am swiftie and I have been a fan since the beginning of her career and I have to admit that I was so hesitant to watch this video. I appreciate that you took the time to actually listen to her music and give it a chance. As you said with debut, it's been amazing to see her grow as an artist and as a person. I also appreciate that you acknowledge that so much of the criticism levied against her has an undertone of misogyny. i just want to say i really appreciated that you came into this with an open mind. as a swiftie of 15+ years, i've seen the rise and fall and back and forth of public opinion about taylor and it was super refreshing to see someone approach her discography with the thoughtfulness that you did. and while i may disagree with some of your takes, we actually have a lot of the same feelings towards certain songs. what i try to remember as a long time fan is that i am biased because i grew up with her. but i can look back at her older albums with nostalgia and still understand your criticisms as someone with a fresh perspective. i think one of the best things about taylor is that she has something for everyone and not everything for anyone. i think most die hard fans can agree that all we want is for people to give her work an honest and fair shot, which you absolutely did. great video!

Holy Crap this was an investment. I'm not a Swiftie either but she does have a beautiful voice. I watched a TV interview with Stevie Nix about what she went through in the '70s and '80s and being overly criticized as a woman when Male musicians were held to completely different standards. If you haven't listened to Fleetwood Mac's, Rumors album, and the backstory behind the album. The band was all fighting because almost everyone had cheated on each other with another band member, Then they basically all locked themselves in a remote farmhouse and wrote all the album's songs based on their tumultuous relationships and arguments. All while trying not to kill each other lol

Taking in all of her discography is absolutely insane and indeed after a while you get a bit tired as it is a lot to digest but truly no one in this fandom would come for you due to the actual effort you put in to listen and digest her work. It’s admirable tbh. I do think you should listen to the non-album singles because she has some beautiful songs like “Beautiful Ghost” and “Safe and Sound” and actually has a song called “Christmas Tree Farm” 😂

woowww this is some dedication!! I will say for me, and for the of majority of swifty Tumblr and Twitter lol, that TTPD is a grower and not a shower, I would definitely give it a try when you’re not just trying to get through it, as it really is an album that you have to listen to and process. It’s one of her most in-depth, raw albums, and I would definitely give it more of a chance! for me, I would probably rank the first part over the second part with how much I’ve grown to love it in the last few days, and it was very much the opposite on release day. It’s very cynical and downright hilarious when you understand her intentions behind some songs and lyrics; the title itself is a mockery of the tortured poet that she’s describing throughout the album, two characters and two men that we don’t fully see or understand, as the album is based around solely her, with them as the trigger for her mania. This was mentioned in her “summation” poem in the booklet of the album, which I would thoroughly recommend anyone reading before beginning the double album, as it perfectly tunes us into her mental state and intentions and makes it overall so much more interesting. I’ve been a fan of her for almost my whole life, my first concert being hers when I was four years old, with great attachment to each album, and it’s already skyrocketed to my top three. ooooh and 'cowboy like me'! It seems to be a trend that lots of people don’t like the song at first, and then it becomes a top favorite, which was my relationship with it, and now almost all of my usernames are based around it lmao, so I would definitely give it a few more listens if you were up for it! I would say that Midnights is the most polarizing Taylor Swift album within public opinion and even her community, but as someone who really adores it, I would definitely give it another chance, keeping in mind its unserious nature; it’s essentially a breakdown album before the breakup. 'you're losing me' coming out way later, after the breakup, and it was like a puzzle piece clicking together. And OMG, I’m so sorry for rambling, but Evermore, to me, is a better album song-wise, and Folklore is a better album as a body of work. Folklore tells a story, and Evermore shows us momentary windows into her world, so I can’t begin to compare them. “Happiness” is assumed to be about her relationship with Scott Borchetta, The CEO of Big Machine Records, the man who sold her masters. She had practically grown up with him, and her family treated him like family, so when that whole debacle went down, there was lots of anger from both sides, and the song is basically her grappling with that. It is not appreciated enough by many, and I care for it so deeply, so I hope that explanation adds a little bit more love to it lol So sorry for rambling! I love her very dearly, and I’m so happy that you chose to do this. I hope your sleep was good after all the editing lmao💗💗

I love this response! The other thing I was going to add is that so many swifties deep dive into the lyrics and story behind each song which being it to life in a different way than it does on your first listen or two. When you understand what she’s talking about or referencing the story becomes alive in your head and the “weird lyrics” become a puzzle piece. I have found this to be true with soooo sooo many of her songs and thats one reason why a lot of them are growers!

19:03 innocent is basically a song about Kanye West and Taylor forgiving him for what he did at the 2009 VMAs so there’s your context there. Speak now is actually a song that Taylor wrote because Haley Williams recently attended the wedding of her ex who is her band mate. Ours and superman are songs that were written about John Mayer early on in their relationship so you can see the delulu in those songs.

Not even joking - this is the best video I’ve ever seen. I love the attitude you went in with and the amount of time you dedicated to each song (not too much or too little). What you said about midnights being unserious is actually what we are now saying about the tortured poets department. Judging from the title, everyone (including swifties) thought this would be an album full of deep, serious, tortured & poetic lyrics and though we do get some of that, the whole title and concept is making fun of the pretentious, (forcefully) tortured art bro/writer trope. -> “You left your typewriter at my apartment, straight from the tortured poets department.” “I think some things I never say, like who uses typewriters anyway?” “you’re not Dylan Thomas, I’m not Patty Smith, this ain’t the Chelsea hotel, were modern idiots” In her epilogue about the album, she describes that phase in her life as “manic” and of “temporary insanity”. That’s why the first half can come across chaotic and the lyrics are sometimes hella specific and other times vague and confusing. It might be the progression from her old albums that you were missing - she was manically writing all of this in the midst of chaos, but doesn’t censor herself anymore afterwards.

Not my kind of music either! But I'm happy I can appreciate a talented person when I hear one, I'm not comfortable with the vacuum of negativity that people throw at her And thank you!!

This is my favorite kind of non-Swiftie person! The “not my style of music at all, but can acknowledge that she has talent” kind of person ❤

Always! High levels of respect. Also I should have said - *mostly* not my kind of music. Obviously as you can see from the video, some of her stuff rocked me

Lol dorothea is about the person who sings in tis the damn season, therefore the narrator of tis the damn season is dorothea. Tis the damn season is consequently about the narrator of dorothea

lol i never recommend binge listening to even just TTPD in one sitting, let alone her entire discography in a handful of days. talk about mental fatigue! i will say that midnights was a grower for a lot of people, and TTPD is also definitely a grower for many. the prologue for the new album DEFINITELY helps add some context; i sure as shit wish i'd read it before listening lol

I highly recommend the live acoustic performance of Dancing with Our Hands Tied from the Rep tour. I had the same issues with the production but the live performance made it my favorite song on the album.
